iHeartCountry 103.7 ‘CKY (WCKY-FM/Toledo) will be presenting their first annual T-Town Hoedown starring Rodney Atkins with Jerrod Niemann and special guests Brent Lowry & The Drifters. Tennessee-born Rodney Atkins has six #1 hit songs and four studio records, selling more than 10-million units worldwide. His first compilation, Rodney Atkins Greatest Hits, pushed his music forward but stayed connected to what had always made it great. In Atkins’ eyes, that’s songs about the highways of life, about family, and about love. His last studio LP, Take A Back Road, yielded his sixth career number one, and his fastest rising single to date with the title track. His 2006 single, “Watching You,” was named the Number One Song of the Decade by Country Aircheck, an accolade that even found Atkins himself surprised. Atkins is more invested than ever in making honest, authentic records that tell a story and showcase his unique place in the world, which is exactly what he does on his upcoming fifth record.
Jerrod Niemann’s fourth album, released last year on Curb Records, included a stunning batch of new songs that pushed and pulled country music’s borders. The Ride was heralded by many as quite possibly the most relevant country release of the year, producing the hit single “A Little More Love.” Jerrod’s success with three radio hit singles from The Ride follows up on Platinum-selling singles like “Drink To That All Night” (from 2014’s High Noon) and “Lover Lover” (from 2010’s Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury). Niemann is emerging as one of country’s most progressive artists.
Brent Lowry & The Drifters are bringing back a revival of real country music with a unique and modern twist. Formed in 2016, Brent and his band have been working on original music while playing shows all over the Midwest. The band has two self-produced EPs, Pemberville Road (2016) and The Drifter (2017), as the 2018 single, “American Flag” – now used by the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye teams in their “Hometown Hero” segment during games. Brent Lowry & The Drifters adds the ‘CKY T-Town Hoedown to their show resume which already includes opening performances for Toby Keith, Joe Nichols, Brothers Osborne, David Alan Coe, Bucky Covington, and others.
