    Tan & Sober Gentlemen
Born and raised in North Carolina, the Tan and Sober Gentlemen began taking the songs, stories, and tunes that make up their beloved state’s musical tradition before they could talk. The music of the Carolinas, (and Appalachia in general) stems from the marriage of the Irish fiddle and the African banjo, which first met in the American South before the Revolution. The Tan and Sober Gentlemen aim to bring these traditions full circle. They play Irish tunes, ballads, and pub songs right next to the Appalachian fiddle tunes of their youth, melding the two into what they call “Irish-American hillbilly music.” Meanwhile, they have earned a reputation as one of the South’s hardest-hitting live acts, playing at blazing tempos, and putting every last bit of energy they possess into the show. The result is a raucous celebration of the Carolinas’ Irish heritage, with drinking, dancing, and merriment galore.

    Ashley Heath and Her Heathens
With a voice once described as “velvet soul,” Asheville songwriter Ashley Heath has been winning over the hearts of Americana music lovers since she gave up her barista apron in the spring of 2015. Heath released her third album “Something to Believe” on October 14th, 2022 under Organic Records in Asheville, NC.

She is now playing solo shows, as well touring with her full band "Ashley Heath and Her Heathens," in support of her new album, and set to deliver her signature sultriness to clubs and festivals around the country. Often compared to her influences, Bonnie Raitt and Norah Jones, Heath easily manages to find a voice all her own. She has been recognized across Greater Appalachia for her strong songwriting and vocal abilities, having made the WNCW Top 100 list and Mountain Xpress "Best Of" awards several years in a row.

Jake Xerxes Fussell is a singer and guitarist based in Durham, NC. He is, according to Ann Powers of NPR, "maybe the leading interpreter of American folk music right now..."
Fussell’s album Good and Green Againwas released to critical acclaim in January of 2022. The album was produced by James Elkington and featured some formidable musicians, including Casey Toll on upright bass, Libby Rodenbough on strings, Joe Westerlund on drums, Joseph Decosimo on fiddle, and others. Bonnie “Prince” Billy contributed additional vocals.
“...Fussell is the rare contemporary to approach folk in its pure form, shunning self-penned compositions about bummer relationships to concentrate on material handed down from bygone, hardenedtimes.” –The New Yorker
“(Fussell) is one of the great magpies of American song, collecting forgotten, tarnished gems with a folklorist’s zeal... his renditions aren’t so much cover versions as composites...” –The Guardian

    Dark City Kings
The Dark City Kings marry the garage rock of the Asheville underground with the mountain music of this region. We are heartache, raucous sing-a-longs, indie pop, Irish music, country music, get-up-and-dance-and-then-make-out-with-your-baby-at-the-dark-end-of-the-bar music. We are fans of Lucinda Williams and Blondie, The Waterboys and The Cure. This is Black Mountain flirting music.

40 20 10s are an Asheville-based Americana band that plays the type of music the Cohen Brothers would make a movie out of. The band consists of Galen Holland, Springs Wade, Donny Brazil, Didier Rubio, and Josh Gibbs.

Resurrected from the ashes of COVID-19, Fashion Bath is the self-effaced love child of Max Murray and Kevin Boggs. Joined by Zack Hayes and Peter Gonsalves, Asheville’s favorite slacker rock band plays tunes that are outlined with catchy hooks and harmonies, baby oil slick grooves, and other things people tend to enjoy. Caged Affair
is an alternative rock band based out of Asheville NC.  Their neo-grunge punk hybrid sound has drawn parallels to bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana and Royal Blood.

Led by guitarist/vocalist Tyler Kemmerling, whose music has been heavily influenced by the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins, Caged Affair delivers music written with a sense of both despair and whit, a counterculture look at modern day society.  “Falling into Madness,” a recently released single, vividly illustrates youths’ disillusionment with the fading American dream.

    The Appalachian Renegades
A rock band that fuses classic sounds and modern tones, The Appalachian Renegades call upon guitar heavy riffs mixed with soaring saxophone melodies and clean vocals to form their core sound. Having spent 7 years playing shows across WNC, the renegades are currently writing music for their 4th studio release. Devil's Wish, the third of their career, had two #1 singles in the summer of 2022 on Buzz Radio Asheville. The guys produce a sound reminiscent of rock bands like Greta Van Fleet, Clutch, Volbeat, Government Mule, Jack White, Black Stone Cherry, and My Morning Jacket among many other influential contemporary and classic rock artists.

    Palmyra
“Like the best folk often does, [Palmyra] balances melancholic yearning with intimate beauty, crafting a dance of lovely harmony and unadorned instrumentation.”

    -Under The Radar, 2023

“Their voice(s) drips with a beautiful desperation, every single word holding an earnestness you don’t find just anywhere anymore.”

    -The Alternative, 2023

Established in the Shenandoah Valley, Palmyra’s set explores the fusion of traditional folk string instruments, three part harmonies, and earnest songwriting. The trio captures the collective spirit of three Virginia natives, Teddy (he/him), Manoa (he/him), and Sasha (they/them), often described as a distant cousin of the progressive folk band, Punch Brothers, mixed with elements of Oliver Wood or the Avett Brothers. Palmyra’s songs are intimate and contemplative, with arrangements that allow them to create the illusion of a full, larger-than-three ensemble. The trio's sound is a nod to Appalachia and Midwestern Americana, apparent through their stirring craftsmanship and dedication to a folk-driven, innovative experience throughout each unique live performance.

Palmyra has supported Watchhouse, Mipso, and Illiterate Light on the road and had the honor to play the historic Newport Folk Festival in both 2022 and 2023, Americanafest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots, and Floydfest where they were named the “On The Rise” competition winner in ’22.

Jack Marion and The Pearl Snap Prophets bring a youthful-exuberance and high-country swagger to the doorsteps of modern country music. The North Carolina-based band has spent the past 6 years in honky-tonks, bars, and mountain roadhouses, collecting fodder for songs along the way. There are songs about living; written in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains. They are straight-from-the-hip and straight-from-the heart. No bull-honky. All truth. But they are just as catchy as any songwriting-factory-formed mega hit that will ever curse your ear.
