Find new and exciting ways to treat and improve your ceramic pieces, get excited with endless possibilities and embrace the unexpected. This comprehensive course involves ceramic sculpture, found objects, assemblage, painting and the use of unconventional techniques. This class challenges the ceramic artist to think outside the box and find their own voice. With slips, stains, metal and glass we will explore new ideas and ways to use clay as a medium with other elements.

This class welcomes experienced hand builders to participate as the basic fundamentals of working clay is required.

Mixed Media: Texture Focused | 2-D Acrylic Painting.

Mondays, 6pm - 8pm  

In this class we will create textured mixed media pieces using any or all of the following that you choose: acrylic paint, collage, pencils, oil pastels, oil paint, paper, or even fabric. Many different mark making tools can be used like brushes, palet knives, stamps, stencils etc. You can work on canvas, heavy paper or cradled wood panel, Many master painters like Matisse, Bearden and Picasso used collage with paint so why not try it? We will first create collage papers with acrylic paint on various papers, then create mixed media pieces by combining paint with the collage papers. In each class will be a short lesson/demo and then the teacher will assist students with their projects. Basic art principles like composition, value, color, etc will be reviewed as needed as to to how they relate to students’ pieces.  The teacher will assist each student with their choice of media, and everyone will have their own 6x3’ table and large easel.  It will be so fun!

Beginners or advanced students are welcome!

Perfect for beginning students or the more experienced ones, this is an all-level ceramics class that will focus on form, shaping and textural methods on the clay wheel. Learn how to add handles, and other ornamental designs to your pieces while also discovering new techniques through demonstrations and one-on-one instructions

In this class, we will focus on the basics, focusing on a variety of hand building tips and techniques. This will be a project-based class with ideas and examples that will challenge and build your skills. We will focus on pinch, coil, and slab and begin applying ways of combining these to make more both functional and sculptural pieces.  We will explore not only hand building techniques but a variety of glaze and other surface design treatments.

Join Instructor Brett Beasley as he shares with you the wonders of lidded vessels. In this intermediate wheel throwing course, we will cover the three main styles of lids: gallery seat lid, cap lid and flange lid. What will you put in your new lidded vessel? Whatever it is 'put a lid on it'!
