"Dynamic excitement...Nick Moss is a major force in contemporary blues. Dennis Gruenling plays soaring harp...Infectious, finger-snappin' R&B." -Blues Music Magazine

Blues guitar virtuoso Nick Moss>/b> and harmonica wizard Dennis Gruenling have been on a winning streak since they first joined forces in 2016. With relentless nonstop touring and the release of their Alligator Records debut, The High Cost Of Low Living, in 2018, The Nick Moss Band Featuring Dennis Gruenling has been playing for wildly enthusiastic fans and winning over critics and radio programmers worldwide. Debuting at #3 on the Billboard Blues Chart, the album topped many 2018 "Best Of" lists. UK tastemaker magazine Mojo said, "Guitarist and singer Nick Moss shows the world his fearsome guitar chops and his complete familiarity with the great tradition of Chicago blues music. Dance the turkey right off your bones - and - bring the whole family! You've sat around enough the last two days.

ABOUT JOE BELL & THE STINGING BLADES
Conceived in cigarette smoke and nurtured on cold beer, the Stinging Blades are a bar band down to the marrow. Their mixture of Memphis Soul, New Orleans R&B, Blues, Rock & Roll, and finely honed original tunes all played with real feeling keeps a joint rocking. They never resort to the lowest common denominator in choice of tunes, but always try to lift the atmosphere to a higher plane while remaining anchored in carnal pelvic funk. This band jams! However, don't think of them as a "jam band'. That's not to say that they aren't open to the ecstasies of psychedelic pandemonium. But when all is said and done, the pleasure found in a good groove well played is paramount for these fellows. If it's feeling, quality tunes, and a healthy portion of Rock & Roll magic you desire, let the Blades cut off a slice for you.

Master of the 88 Key Disaster!

Reverend Billy C. Wirtz is a comic genius, gifted pianist and American musicologist who defies easy classification. "I like to think of myself as the Victor Borge of the blues," states the Reverend, but Billy goes way beyond Borge both in scope of subject matter (from politics to social commentary) and, of course, in taste. In fact, no theme is too extreme, taboo, or undignified for the Reverend, so long as it garners a good laugh.

Five Easy Pieces presents a wide ranging mix of classic rock, ballads, blues and original compositions in a largely acoustic setting.  With four strong singers, the vocals are prominently featured.  From The Beatles and Van Morrison to ZZ Top and Sam Cooke, most any and all musical styles are represented.

Five Easy Pieces consists of Tommy Hartley on vocals and guitar, Jason Barker on vocals and guitar, Billy Belk on vocals and bass, Carter Minor on vocals and harmonica and Bakru Hunsel on drums and percussion.

Tommy Hartley has been a fixture of the Triangle music scene for many years.  His projects have included SLOWHAND - a Tribute to Eric Clapton, The Tornado Blues Band, Rewind, The Doug Prescott Band and Sutter's Gold Streak Reunion Tour.  He brings a wealth of experience to the group.

Jason Barker has likewise been involved in many regional music ventures, including an active teaching schedule.  He was also part of The Tornado Blues Band and performs as a solo artist.  His expertise also includes production and arranging.  He and Tommy have played together for over twenty years.

Billy Belk is returning to the music scene after several years of inactivity.  He and Tommy played with the late Dave Braswell in Trickbag, a power trio blues band active regionally in the late '90s.  His solid bass lines and strong vocals are an integral part of our sound.

Carter Minor needs no introduction.  He has been active in many different aspects of the Triangle musical pantheon as a singer, instrumentalist, voice over artist and much, much more.  As band director and music teacher at Cary Christian School, as well as an associate minister, he lives his faith daily.  He was a member of Heartwood, Steps and many other musical groups.  Carter is a good friend, a consummate musician and we are lucky to have him on board.

Last, but certainly not least, is Bakru Hunsel.  Hailing from the South American country of Suriname, he brings an extensive knowledge of rock, jazz and blues percussion to the stage.  He was a member of The Tornado Blues Band and is currently active in Floy Doy, an eclectic jazz ensemble featuring Bryan McCune on cornet.  Bakru's groove is deep and we are indeed fortunate to have him.

Please watch email and Facebook for gig alerts concerning upcoming events.  Our recent shows have included Abbey Road in Cary, Apex and Fuquay, City Kitchen in Chapel Hill and Durham's premier listening room The Blue Note Grill.  Please make plans to join us for an evening of the music we love and you love to dance to.  We hope to see many of you in the near future.  Please continue to support live music and Five Easy Pieces.

While it's hard to put a finger on any one sound that defines "American music," the compositions of Bill Toms are as close a template as any. The Pittsburgh native, along with his band Hard Rain, delivers a sound that takes the greatest of America's most beloved genres and melds them into a poetic representation of the best the country has to offer. With his ninth full-length studio release, Good For My Soul (street date October 27), Toms channels a foot-stomping, wall-shaking blend of soul, blues, gospel, and rock vibes, all brought together with his lyrical specialty -- stories of everyday men and women doing their best to stay ahead while still managing to keep a dream or two in their heads.

Soaring horns, gritty licks, toe-tapping rhythms, and Toms' own rough-hewn vocals will draw listeners in, as well as well-deserved comparisons to the greats such as Dr. John, Little Feat, Springsteen, Joe Tex, The Blasters, Otis Redding, and Rufus Thomas.

"The idea of a horn section behind my songs has been something I've thought about for a while," explains Toms. "Albert King, and all the Stax artists come to mind when I think of what true rhythm and blues can do. I wanted a piece of that; creating dynamics, and drama within the song; and fostering the deep emotion that a great horn section can give. The words also needed this place-- in order to be fully interpreted as the representation of 'my America,' and the people who make up my small part of this world."

As a solo artist, Toms has opened for the likes of Levon Helm, Marshall Crenshaw, Steve Forbert, and Buddy Guy. He's plotting a string of regional east coast dates to support Good For My Soul, as well as a full European tour in 2018.

"Tom Gray and Mark Johnson are the rusty, banged up Cadillacs of the slide guitar, side by side coughing up smoke and spitting backwoods dirt, but unswerving in their precision and singular style." - Tom Clarke, Hittin' the Note

Delta Moon plays deep roots music. A whisky-flavored voice delivers 21st century lyrics, while two slide guitars wind around an unshakeable groove like kudzu vines on a barbwire fence.
Delta Moon won the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2003.
The Roots Music Association named lead vocalist Tom Gray Blues 2008 Songwriter of the Year. Tom is well known in the music industry as a songwriter, having penned, among many songs recorded by other artists, Cyndi Lauper's hit "Money Changes Everything."
Delta Moon's music has been featured on Showtime, Lifetime, the Food Network and more.Delta Moon tours extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Low Down, released in 2015, reached #2 on the Roots Music Report's Contemporary Blues Chart and was named one of the Best Albums of 2015 by both DownBeat and Blues Music Magazine.

Delta Moon's latest album, Cabbagetown - named for one of the band's favorite Atlanta neighborhoods - came out in March 2017. The band has been touring incessantly behind it, visiting nine countries since spring, every night winning enthusiastic audience response. No Depression describes Cabbagetown as having "great grooves, thought provoking lyrics, infectious hooks, sweet slide guitar work and mountains of superb tone.

"It has been two decades now since Tom Gray walked into an Atlanta music store hoping to sell a 1930s Dobro. The owner said, "I don't want it, but this guy might." The guy was Mark Johnson. As they stepped out to Tom's van to see the guitar, the girl with Mark kept whispering, "Let's get out of here." Mark didn't buy the guitar, but the two exchanged phone numbers and soon were playing slide guitar together - Mark on bottleneck and Tom on lap steel - in clubs, coffee shops and barbecue joints around Atlanta. The name Delta Moon came to Mark on a pilgrimage to Muddy Waters' cabin near Clarksdale, Mississippi. Delta Moon quickly gathered a wall-full of local "best" awards. After winning the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2003, the band widened its travels to include the US, Canada, and Europe. Bassist Franher Joseph joined Delta Moon in 2007, adding a sweet pocket and rich bass vocals.

"Delta Moon is deep blues with a fury.... Hot stuff!" - Vintage Guitar

Ronnie Baker Brooks announces release of 'Times Have Changed', his first album in 10 years.
Out on Provogue/Mascot Label Group on 20 January 2017.

Produced by: Steve Jordan
Featuring: Lonnie Brooks, "Big Head" Todd Mohr, Bobby 'Blue' Bland, Steve Cropper, Angie Stone, Eddie Willis, Al Kapone, Felix Cavaliere and Lee Roy Parnell.

Brooks, 49, was born in Chicago, and started playing guitar around age six. At 19, he joined his father, Lonnie Brooks
who by then had influenced some of the most well-known bluesman of our history: Jimmy Reed, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Johnny Winter, and Junior Wells. For 12 years the two would tour together, putting Ronnie out front with
Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and Koko Taylor.

"My whole intention, when I started with Golddigger (his 1998 debut album) and up through this one, was to be
authentic enough for the older generation but have something that the younger generation could latch onto," says Brooks.

"I try to be that bridge. With Take Me Witcha (2001), I've got a rapper on that. On The Torch (2006) we went with
Al Kapone. He's a bridge. He's a bridge from blues to hip-hop. With music, it all comes from the heart. It comes from the heart and from the soul. In blues, it doesn't matter what you're talking about, it definitely relates.

"That was my intention on this record: to build that bridge."
