The Carolina Civic Center and The Locals Comedy are proud to announce the first ever Carolina Comedy Jam – a LIVE stand-up comedy night on Friday, August 2^nd in our beautiful historic theater. Come out for an evening of laughs and entertainment with Fayetteville’s own Ace Brown and Bristol Tennessee’s own, Bryan Morton. This must-see night of comedy will surely leave you splitting at the sides with laughter and begging for more.

Ace Brown has performed with comedy legends to include Paul Mooney, Tommy Davidson, Cocoa Brown and Kevin Hart. Ace has performed at the top Comedy Clubs in the nation. As an accomplished actor, Ace has written, starred, and co-directed a web series titled “Risk The Life of Floyd and Sabrina” and “Not To Be Played With”, both of which can be seen on TUBI.

Bryan Morton has toured with world-class comics including Nate Bargatze, Tim Dillon, Joe Zimmerman, Michael Palascak, and Chris Kattan. Named the funniest in the Tri-Cities, Bryan has been sharing stories to the delight of audiences all over the country about his life as a down-to-earth, good ole boy from East Tennessee, just tryin' to get by.

A Night of Silent Film and Organ Music with Mark Andersen

A Fundraiser for the Robeson County Arts Council

The theater's "Mighty Morton" organ is featured during a special evening of new and classic silent film as well as nostalgic tunes performed by master musician and composer Mark Andersen. 

The performance will start out with the screening of the short film "Applecalypse", which was created by and stars UNC Chapel Hill film department students. The film, which was scored by Andersen, had its premiere recently at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro. Director Minh Ngo will be on hand to introduce the film and discuss its process. 

The musical part of the program will be “The American Songbook” with music by George Gershwin and Cole Porter. The night ends with the silent short "Laughing Gas” starring Charlie Chaplin and also scored by Andersen. 

Admission for this special event is $20 for adults and $15 for students. A portion of the funds for this show will benefit the Robeson County Arts Council.

Up on the Roof.  Under the Boardwalk.  This Magic Moment. There Goes My Baby.  Dance with Me.  Spanish Harlem.  Stand by Me.  The list of hits goes on and on. THE DRIFTERS…one of Rock & Roll’s founding vocal groups is once again touring the U.S. under the auspices of their original management team.

From their inception in the early 1950s and up until recently, THE DRIFTERS has a symbiotic relationship with Rock & Roll legend George Treadwell, who has discovered and managed such famous artists as Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn and Nina Simone.  The Treadwell Family was there when the original DRIFTERS formed and was responsible for guiding their career through 20 years of uninterrupted hits that has made them the second most successful recording artist of all time, according to Billboard Magazine.

From the start, the term "Drifters" was used to denote performers who "drifted" in and out of the group.  All of the original members are long deceased and, in fact, the last original member departed the group over 40 years ago.  Robert Wiggins, our longest current member, has been with the group 30 years and worked with 3 original members.  While the Drifters were among the first group of artists to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, several of their members who left the group and went on to have solo careers (like Ben E. King and Clyde McPhatter) were also inducted for their individual efforts.

Caroline Owens is a two-time IBMA & SPBGMA nominated Bluegrass Vocalist, recording artist for Skyline Records, and publisher for Billy Blue Records, of Nashville, TN. She has performed alongside many of the music industry's most accomplished artists such as: Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, Suzanne Cox, The Isaacs, Larry Gatlin, Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, The Malpass Brothers, Darin & Brooke Aldridge and many others.

In addition to her undeniable vocal talent, Caroline made her mark in the songwriting industry when her debut single, Heartbreak Train, claimed the #1 Bluegrass song of 2023, on the Bluegrass Borderline Charts.

Caroline's vocal abilities, paired with her down home southern charm, have received critical acclaim from some of the music industry's most accomplished performers, and have enabled her to become one of the most successful, young vocalists in the Bluegrass genre.

The band features musicians on mandolin, fiddle, bass, banjo and guitar.

The Legacy Gospel Night featuring Vickie Winans, Denise Tichenor and Friends

Following last season’s smashing success with audiences, Denise Tichenor returns with her band and full singer ensemble for a night of gospel and memories. The RevNation Gospel Concert offers a full gospel concert with a “Gaither” gospel feel! This year’s gospel concert will feature a full concert set by the legendary, international gospel artist, Vickie Winans. She will be performing many of her hits such as, “As Long as I’ve Got King Jesus” as well as “We Shall Behold Him” and so many more! The concert will also highlight many RevNation, national gospel artists, featuring many well-known gospel favorites like “Oh Happy Day” and some of their own original gospel music as well!

Denise Tichenor has been a professional singer/performer for over 30 years. During her years in the entertainment industry, she has been a regular lead singer for the Bobby Jones Gospel Hour on BET Television Network for 17 years. She has also been featured in the Gospel Music Encyclopedia, "Uncloudy Days" among many of the gospel greats, such as Mahalia Jackson. She has traveled the world singing both gospel and secular in places such as Italy, Spain and Australia. Denise also continues to sing with the legendary group, Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers.

Denise just recently began her "Patti LaBelle Tribute" tour in September of 2020 and is now very excited about her Motown tribute show! The Motown Special will feature many Motown hits from artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell, Gladys Knight, James Brown and many more - as well as some other Old School R&B favorites during the Motown Era that you may remember and continue to enjoy! This show features a full band and singer cast.
