    About CHANTAE CANN
If we’re being honest, no one’s ever really just heard Chantae Cann. In truth, you experience her.

She opens her mouth and 10,000 hours of studied mononymous legends filter through that voice, The Stevie. The Chaka. The Erykah, Jill, India and Brandy.

It’s the church in her work. The courageous blend of an authentic soul choosing to exist in the midst of an often inauthentic industry. Yet somehow she chooses to find strength in her vulnerability.

Chantae Cann, the artist, is both jazz and soul. Rooted in gospel, reflective of world rhythm and hip hop.

Her debut release, Journey to Golden, landed at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts and #7 on the Jazz Billboard Charts in March of 2016, and was a much welcomed introduction to the songstress. By the time of her follow-up release, Sol Empowered, we were well into the story. Earning #8 on the Jazz Billboard Charts, this album resonates with so many because they genuinely connect to the story. And Chantae, if nothing else, knows how to make a connection. Whether it’s the parents who divulge the fact that their kids listen to and sing along to her songs, or those who express that Chantae’s artistry has gotten them through some pretty tough times. Chantae makes music that serves as a safe haven for those seeking respite and reformation. All the while undergirded with a simple, but profound truth: Love Heals.

When she’s not working, Chantae can be found in her private time binge-watching episodes of Sister, Sister or freestylin these bars since she is an incredible emcee in her head …for now. But even if she’s not in your Top5 Dead or Alive GOAT convo for rappers, Chantae is one of the best kept secrets in music. She’s collaborated with PJ Morton, Masego, Tarriona “Tank” BallSnarky Puppy, Foreign Exchange, and Jonathan McReynolds. Chantae has electrified stages with Cory Henry, Robert Glasper, and Marcus Miller. She’s opened up for India.Arie, Tweet, Avery Sunshine and Lalah Hathaway.

    ABOUT KAIRA BA
Kaira Ba ecstatically explores the spiritual songs, stories, and rhythms of Senegal’s millennia-old Mandé culture.

Bandleader Diali Cissokho chose the name “Kaira Ba” (meaning “The Great Peace”) because it elegantly reflects a core value that he and his band aim to express when they perform.
Cissokho comes from a long line of prominent hereditary griots – people who are entrusted to maintain a West African village’s genealogies and important ceremonial affairs through song. But he is much more than a preservationist. Cissokho and his band effortlessly integrate the traditional sounds of the kora, the 22-stringed bridge-harp, with a modern rush of electric guitar and an exuberant rhythm section.

    ABOUT AFRICA UNPLUGGED
Africa Unplugged is a dynamic group, led by djembe master, guitarist and songwriter, Atiba Rorie. The band uses traditional percussion instruments from West Africa in combination with guitars and bass to play traditional rhythms while drawing from influences across the world. Their creativity results in a funky, soulful blues and dance music that keeps you moving as they tell stories from the old world and the new!

    ABOUT

“I’ve always had an affinity for the Hammond organ,” says Sam Fribush. “It’s such a greasy, funky, soulful instrument, but it’s also an incredible piece of engineering. You open it up and there’s over a hundred spinning discs; it’s more complicated than a grandfather clock. It has such a mind of its own — most of the time, it feels like it’s playing me more than I’m playing it.”

That funky Hammond sound can be heard in all its greasy glory on two blazing new albums from the Sam Fribush Organ Trio — Vol. I: Riverboat and Vol II: The Root. Produced by virtuoso guitarist Charlie Hunter, both records find Fribush, Hunter and drummer Geoff Clapp putting their special soulful spin on everything from jazz standards (Yusef Lateef’s “Plum Blossom,” Billy Strayhorn’s “A Flower is a Lovesome Thing”), New Orleans touchstones (Allen Toussaint’s “Riverboat,” Ellis Marsalis Jr.’s “Swingin’ at the Haven”), 70s R&B jams (Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round in Circles,” The Impressions’ “We Must Be in Love”) and modern classics like D’Angelo’s “The Root” and Bonnie Raitt’s “Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About,” as well as a couple of Fribush originals. Playful, thrilling, and cheerfully sweat-soaked, both records cook like the kitchen of a packed juke joint. If you dig the likes of Jimmy McGriff, Big John Patton and Brother Jack McDuff, the Sam Fribush Organ Trio is most definitely in your wheelhouse.

The Sam Fribush Organ Trio began to take shape in the spring of 2020, when Fribush — a jazz piano graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, who had established a sizeable following in New Orleans — moved back from the Big Easy to his hometown of Greensboro, NC. “My friends in New Orleans and I were all making a fine living, having fun, playing out every night of the week, and putting cash in our pockets,” he recalls, “but then the pandemic hit and all the gigs dried up.” A mutual friend introduced Frisbush to Hunter, who had himself relocated to Greensboro from the NYC area a few years earlier, and the two immediately hit it off. After woodshedding together in a converted garage studio at Fribush’s parents house, the pair convened at Stephen Lee Price’s Studio in High Point, NC with veteran jazz drummer Clapp in tow.

“SHINE”, Innervision Records label recording artist Kim Scott has impressed audiences across the globe in performances and on the airwaves. Known for her exceptional tone, intoxicating melodies, and flawless technique, she is one of the most sought-after flutists in both the classical and jazz fields. The contemporary jazz superstar has an ever-growing fan base garnered from her continued presence on the performance scene and from her visibility as radio host of the nationally syndicated, two-hour jazz program, “Kim Scott’s Block Party Radio”, which airs weekly across the world. She’s a fresh image and sound for today’s contemporary jazz scene. With five albums to her credit, Kim Scott has proven to be a mainstay in the field and a promise for the future as both a soloist and collaborator.

Ronald Jackson, journalist for The Smooth Jazz Ride, states “Artists like Kim Scott bring an exuberance to an art form long prophesied to be a thing of the past in short order by critics. When you listen to the Pied Piper-like allure and magic of her style, you come to the conclusion that those critics couldn’t be farther from the truth.”

Her collaborations include performances and recordings with Jonathan Fritzen, James Lloyd, Jazmin Ghent, Greg Manning, and others. Kim Scott has performed on the stages of Blues Alley, Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz, Catalina Jazztrax, and more as a soloist. She is also a member of the all-female jazz supergroup Jazz in Pink, alongside other musicians such as keyboardist Gail Jhonson and violinist Karen Briggs, and has shared the stage with them across the country.
