PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Alabama Singing Men is a group of ministers of music, pastors, staff members, and laymen from Alabama Baptist churches. The group has been on national and international tours since 1972. Former directors include Dr. Paul Hall and Dr. Tim Banks, both long time music faculty at Samford University. The current director is Dr. Thomas Smith, a Samford graduate, and former head of the Division of Music at Auburn University. He has been director for twenty years. The pianist is Frank Jones, also a Samford graduate. Frank has served as ASM pianist since 1983. He serves with Frank Jones Ministries and Hunter Street Baptist Church. The group will be on a mission trip to Maine in April, 2020.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Invoke continues to successfully dodge even the most valiant attempts at genre classification. The multi-instrumental quartet is fueled by their passion for storytelling and their music is infused with traditions from across America, including bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle tunes, jazz and minimalism. Invoke weaves all of these styles together to form a unique contemporary repertoire, featuring original works composed by and for the group. Guest residency will include Monday Coffee House Composition Competition and Tuesday public recital.
