Launched in August of 2020, Tuesday Casual Collaborations at 185 King Street has become a cornerstone of the vibrant Brevard music community. Every week Travis Book assembles a unique group of musicians for a one-time-only show, drawing on his vast network of friends and growing repertoire of musical styles. From Bluegrass to Blues, Songwriter to Americana, Country to Funk, Travis and his ever-evolving cast of local and national (even international) musicians consistently hit the sweet spot between preparation and spontaneity. “Eventually, I hope to play with everyone!” he occasionally boasts, and he’s well on his way. Travis has hosted a wide range of musicians, including: Anders Beck, Nicki Bluhm, Josh Daniel, Beppe Gambetta, Mike Guggino, Vince Herman, Sierra Hull, Cris Jacobs, Jim Lauderdale, Lindsay Lou, Steve McMurry, Mimi Naja, Tim O’Brien, Woody Platt, Jon Stickley, Kyle Tuttle, and Cristina Vane. He also regularly employs the skills of world-class local musicians like Jeff Sipe, Mike Ashworth, Tommy Maher, Bennett Sullivan, and Derick Gardner. Every week is unique, the musical styles wide-ranging, but the one thing that remains constant is the intention, positivity, and charisma that Travis brings to each and every show.

Travis is out of town this week so he has handed the hosting microphone over to Jon Weisberger.  Jon has invited Natalys Weinstein of Zoe & Cloyd, Danielle Yother of The Wilder Flower, Graham Sharp of Steep Canyon Rangers and Nick Chandler to join him and collaborate for an evening of bluegrass.  

A resident of Brevard since 2019, Jon spent more than 20 years as a touring bass player before settling in Western North Carolina. The recipient of the IBMA’s first Songwriter of the Year award, his co-writes have appeared on recent Grammy-winning bluegrass albums by Billy Strings, the Infamous Stringdusters, the Travelin’ McCourys and Mark O’Connor.  In the studio, he has worked as a producer with Aaron Burdett, Anya Hinkle, Zoe & Cloyd, Tray Wellington, Carley Arrowood, Fireside Collective and other Mountain Home and Organic Records artists.

Every Wednesday means Trivia and Karaoke night! We host trivia seasons that run for 10 weeks. Our Summer tournament runs from 5/29 to 7/31. Trivia teams can have up to six people. Weekly trivia prizes include gift cards to 185 King Street / Noblebräu Brewing and tickets to upcoming concerts. We also award the team that has the highest score at the end of the season 6 tickets to our next beer dinner. We drop each teams two lowest scores so that if you miss a week or two you still have a chance.
Karaoke starts at 9:00 and goes until 11:00. Check our facebook page for updates on theme nights! We are 21+ after 9:00 pm.

Honky Tonk Thursdays are returning by popular demand! This evening's featured band is Fancy & Her Gentlemen  Join us for line dancing lessons at 6:00 and music at 7:00.

Based out of Asheville NC, Fancy and the Gentlemen brings an eclectic mix of honky tonk, blues, southern gothic, rock and classical roots to this Americana band.  Sensitive and rich harmonies weave through the tapestry of original compositions and carefully curated covers.

His feet are sunk deep in the Bayous of South Louisiana and his head is lost in the Mountains of Appalachia. Singer and writer John Trufant plays tribute to his roots and all that shapes him. Touches of soul, blues, country and roots through and through. John and his band will be opening up the evening.

Claiming Texas home for the last decade and originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Jonathan “Jelly” Ellington, has been courageously crafting his unique sound as an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter since first picking up the guitar at age seven. An electrifying fusion of impassioned vocals and vivacious guitar playing, Jelly delivers his blues-centric rock and roll by way of his dynamic stage presence and evident classical training.  Having shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning artists and Texan icons alike, there is no wonder he was voted into the Top 10 “Best Guitarists” in the Austin Chronicle’s Austin Music Awards in both 2018 and 2019. Jelly's latest live EP "Live At Antone's" is available on all streaming platforms. Jelly and his band from Austin will be closing out the night, and excited to have John join them on stage as a special guest!

Ska City is a British-American nine-piece collective, based in Asheville, North Carolina.  They play original and classic ska, two tone, and Trojan rocksteady songs. They also play a variety of Ska standards and covers in the Ska style that you'd never expect.

Rapidly rising on the bluegrass scene, Billboard-charting artists Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road perform internationally and stateside winning both industry awards and the hearts of fans who turn out to see them at some of the industry’s most iconic venues.

Growing up just down the road from Doc Watson, Liam Purcell leads Cane Mill Road as they rock the traditional bluegrass standards they were raised on, yet boldly write original music with roots in the fertile grounds of bluegrass, old-time, and Americana. Their powerful arrangements and dynamic stage presence have landed them main stage slots at legendary festivals across the country. 

Named Momentum Band of the Year by IBMA in 2019, Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road have been recognized as one of the fastest growing bands in the industry. Their latest release "Roots" debuted at #6 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album Charts, joining their three previous albums for a total of 12 weeks in the Top 10.  

In 2022, bandleader Liam Purcell turned heads by sweeping the Rockygrass Instrumental Championships on Guitar, Mandolin, and Banjo, becoming the first person in history to do so.

You’ve seen Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road on national TV with PBS appearances on David Holt’s State of Music and Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour. Other performance highlights include Merlefest, Grey Fox, The Berklee Performance Center, and Wide Open Bluegrass.

Mae Simpson has been shaking up the Minneapolis music scene ever since her band formed in 2018, performing on larger and larger stages to a growing base of loyal fans across the Midwest. Led by her powerful vocals, the seven-piece band brings audiences to their feet with driving horns and drums. The Minneapolis-based singer songwriter weaves elements of funk, soul, pop, rock and country into her sound. Mae and her bandmates leave it all on the stage. Their high-energy show creates a powerful connection with the audience. Hailing originally from South Carolina, Mae has been passionate about singing and creating music for as long as she can remember.  Her broad and soulful voice and deep well of creative energy are complemented by the musicianship and passion of the band. The band has released two EPs, Feel It Comin’ in 2018 and Did You Make it Back in 2020. Mae is set to release a full length album “Chandelier & Bloom” September 1st, 2023.

“Her raspy, dynamic voice is larger than life,” said Helen Teague of Minnesota Public Radio, “but not as large as her uncontainable energy that radiates from the stage.” 

Simpson has opened for acts including Dermot Kennedy, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Robert Clay, Ike Reilly, Langhorn Slim, RubbleBucket, and Pert Near Sandstone. She has performed multiple times on the iconic First Avenue main room, The Fillmore in Minneapolis, the Basilica Block Party, Live On King Street in Madison, Wisconsin, and the Blue Ox Music Festival. If you are a fan of artists like Alabama Shakes, Lake Street Dive and Bruce Springsteen, Mae Simpson is right up your alley.

This week's featured guests are Shawn Lane and Darren Nicholson.  
Shawn Lane is a three-time GRAMMY Nominee and 28-time IBMA Award winner with supergroup Blue Highway.   A fan-favorite vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter, Shawn co-founded Blue Highway and space-age I-Tone Picks.  Shawn is as explosive on fiddle as mandolin and guitar, and has often lent his talents to the GRAMMY winning Earls of Leicester.  

Darren Nicholson  is a grammy nominee and winner of 13 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, Darren Nicholson has taken his own brand of mountain music around the world. A regular for years on the Grand Ole Opry out of Nashville Tennessee, and a founding member of acclaimed bluegrass group Balsam Range, Darren now spends his time recording, writing new songs, and performing. You can catch Darren almost every week sharing the music he loves somewhere, traveling both nationally and internationally - as a solo artist, with his own Darren Nicholson Band, or in collaboration with other musicians. With more new music on the way, Darren is booking now for the 2024 season and beyond.

This band is half man, half beast, and all cowboy. They’ll sooth you with their vocals and slap you with their guitars. Bending your ears and moving your feet to an infectious sound uniquely their own. Carolina Sage is serving up the goodness home style so bring a friend and come hungry! Vocals and acoustic guitar from Chris Porter blend with the songwriting, singing and steel guitar of JP Furnas to blaze a trail right into your heart. Random Animals is an Asheville, North Carolina based Indie-Soul quartet that formed in 2016.  Their sound is defined by dreamy vocal harmonies, a driving rhythm section, thoughtful lyrics, and guitar arrangements that are tight yet melodic.  Weaving together elements of indie-rock, funk, r&b, jazz and soul music, Random Animals puts on a dynamic show that’s aimed to please a diverse audience.
