PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
The 1491s sketch-comedy group, a self-described “gaggle of Indians chock full of cynicism,” claims to have mooned Columbus when he landed. Their mission is simply to make themselves and their audience laugh, and to encourage critical discussion about some social norms within the Native community.

UNC Asheville requires all conference attendees who are driving private vehicles to have a parking permit. This is for parking only and is not for the event registration itself. PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Founded in New York City by guitarist Mamady Kouyaté, a veteran of 1970s Guinean dance bands, the Mandingo Ambassadors make music that is “structured to make you feel good,” with “dazzling vocal and guitar patterns over a rhythm section that is like a perfect system,” according to The New York Times.
