Join the Roadhouse Storytellers as they bring local and regional tellers together for an evening of stories in the intimate space of the Page-Walker. Featured tellers are Jane Dorfman, Milbre Burch, Mary Wood, and Sam Pearsall. Dessert and beverages are included. Jane Dorfman’s stories draw from her favorite Celtic, traditional, and mythic sources with a few personal stories and lies thrown in. She has two award-winning CDs. Jane was a featured teller at the Glens of Antrim Festival in Ireland. She’s told at Speak! The Women’s Storytelling Festival, Alleghany Highlands, the Andersen Statues, NSN Fringe, and Stone Soup. Milbre Burch is a GRAMMY®-nominated spoken word recording artist and internationally known storyteller. Featured at the National Storytelling Festival nine times since 1984, Milbre has performed at festivals across the US and in Europe and Asia. She has released award-winning spoken word recordings on her Kind Crone label. Mary Wood teaches Advanced Placement English in Chapin, South Carolina. In 2023, Mary faced censorship in her classroom when students complained to school board members about being assigned Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Between the World and Me. Despite a firestorm of calls for her termination, she continues to teach and push back against censorship. Sam Pearsall is a retired ecologist and conservationist, the organizer of Roadhouse Storytellers, and the event’s emcee. Sam believes we are all made of stories! Stories are what we remember and dream and how we think of each other. Every story is a whole world, and Sam believes that with any good story, the further in you go, the bigger it gets.
