PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
After a series of indie record releases, Shawn Mullins' critical breakthrough came when 1998 "Soul's Core" album shot him to fame on the strength of its Grammy-nominated No. 1 hit, "Lullaby" followed by AAA/Americana No. 1 "Beautiful Wreck" from 2006's "9th Ward Pickin Parlor."
His song "Shimmer" was used in promotion of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and was included on the "Dawson's Creek" soundtrack.
He co-wrote "All in My Head," which was featured in episode one of the hit TV sitcom "Scrubs."
Mullins also co-wrote the Zac Brown Band's No. 1 country tune "Toes."
In early 2002, he formed super group The Thorns with Matthew Sweet and Peter Droge.
Mullins' most recent album "My Stupid Heart" was released in 2015, the theme of which, Mullins says, can be summed up most succinctly by the song title, "It All Comes Down To Love," the guiding force behind just about every song on the album.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Live Tissue is about information and what we have access to.

What informs the minds and bodies of she, he, they, him, her and them? What if a mistake is on purpose and destined to play out exactly how it plays? What if unique moments are actually that person gaining access to more information than the rest of us can comprehend? Are the rest of us limited, while they have no bounds? Live Tissue makes up 100% of each of us; have you gained access to all that it can provide? Is this the end? Is this the last question? No. Is clarity the goal? Let’s blur the lines a bit. See more. Hear more.

Experience Live Tissue in the flesh. Do it!
A brief Q & A follows each performance.

Take part in hands-on learning sessions for singing and speaking voices.
Anyone interested in having a better voice will benefit from this immersive event!
Social connection is one of the leading predictors of longevity, and the voice is vital to that connection.
As we age, the voice can change, resulting in a weak or raspy sound, difficulty getting loud, more effort with speaking, and general vocal instability.
Don't take voice changes for granted! Be proactive in aging well and maintaining a stronger voice.
Don't let getting older keep you from making the best of your aging voice!

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Running Time: 2 hours

The Cary Players season kicks off in September with Twelve Angry Jurors, a classic drama about what it means to pass judgment on your fellow peers in a democracy.
Originally released in 1957 as the film Twelve Angry Men, this update allows for a large cast of all ages and genders.
Directed by local theatrical veteran Yvonne Anderson, the show takes place on a hot summer day after a long trial, where a jury must unanimously decide the fate of a 19-year-old man accused of murdering his father.
With a single holdout, tempers flare as the eleven jurors try their best to convince the lone dissenter to come around to their side.
As the evidence is re-examined, however, jurors must face their own life experiences and perspectives in their search for the truth and whether there is, in fact, some measure of "reasonable doubt."
Performances run September 27 through October 6 at the Cary Arts Center.

Will call tickets can be picked up at the Cary Arts Center box office starting one hour before the show. For assistance with accessible seating requests at the Cary Arts Center after 3pm on Friday and throughout the weekend, please contact the general box office at 919-462-2055 or the Cary Arts Center 919-469-4069, and/or reach out to the House Manager beginning one hour prior to the performance.

But the rambunctious Herdman children, a tough group of siblings from the wrong side of the tracks, descend upon the pageant, lured by the promise of free dessert, and determined to win all the lead roles for themselves. PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
In December, Cary Players revisits a holiday favorite with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, directed by Shelley Sink. Whena small-town church's seasoned Christmas pageant director breaks her leg, it is up to an inexperienced fill-in to take up the reins. But the rambunctious Herdman children, a tough group of siblings from the wrong side of the tracks, descend upon the pageant, lured by the promise of free dessert, and determined to win all the lead roles for themselves. And while the process is rough, the community watches in surprise as the same old Christmas story is rejuvenated by the creativity, energy, and unexpected sincerity of a misunderstood young family. Based on the novel of the same name by Barbara Robinson, this is a widely beloved Christmas tale, warm and incredibly funny, full of characters both relatable and utterly unique. Performances run December 6-9, 2019, at the Cary Arts Center.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
In early February, director Mia Peters brings us a modern farcical twist to the classic murder mystery. Death By Deisgn:A Comedy with Murder has earned rave reviews for playwright Rob Urbinati, - frequently described as a mix between the brilliant wit of Noël Coward with the intricate plotting of Agatha Christie. Set during a weekend in an English country manor in 1932, Deathby Design is a delightful and mysterious "mash-up" of two of the greatest English writers of all time. Edward Bennett, a playwright, and his wife, Sorel Bennett, an actress, flee London and head to Cookham after a disastrous opening night. But various guestsarrive unexpectedly - a conservative politician, a fiery socialist, a nearsighted ingénue, a zany modern dancer - each with a long-held secret. When one of the guests is murdered, it's left to Bridgit, the feisty Irish maid with a macabre interest in homicide,to solve the crime.
