PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Punch needle is a fiber craft that dates back to the 1880’s, but is experiencing a big resurgence in popularity with more modern designs and applications. Existing somewhere between rug hooking and embroidery, punch needle involves punching a needle through fabric in a repetitive motion to create amazing designs with loops of yarn. It’s a fun, relaxing and easy craft that can be used to produce wall art, patches, pillows, rugs… just about anything made with a textile! And with a great set of tools, even first timers can walk away with a beautiful piece. In our online version of this class, you will complete a punch needle project from start to finish. Along the way, you will learn about material selection, loading your punch tool, what yarns work best, how to work with a pattern to create your design, punch needle techniques, and options for finishing your piece! And though you’ll be following a set pattern for this class, you will learn how to design and produce your own pattern for your future punch needle projects!

For this class, you will work with our Landscape Skies design pattern, featured in the photos above. Landscape Skies is a detailed pattern, but still easy to complete. Colors can easily be swapped out and adjusted to create the look you want. The pattern was designed by Kelly Malone, co-founder of WorkshopSF and owner of the newly launched The Punch Needle Shop.

How to attend this online class: This class will be taught via Zoom video call. You may download Zoom for your desktop or mobile device here. You will also need an internet connection strong enough to stream audio and video. After you register for this class, we will email you a link with details on how to join.

One WorkshopSF Punch Needle - Landscape Skies class kit is included in the price of the first ticket option. IF you have already taken a punch needle class with us, and already possess the Oxford Punch Needle #8 Regular, then you are free to choose the second option which includes all class supplies except for the Oxford punch needle tool.
