Dog Sees God

Confession of a Teenage Blockhead

by Bert V. Royal

Directed by Corinne Philbin

When CB's dog dies from rabies, he begins to question the existence of an afterlife but his friends and family are no help. Between a stoner who misses his blanket, to a sister who has an identity crisis every week, to an ex-girlfriend who is institutionalized, CB struggles to find comfort or relief, much less a real friend in the midst of high school chaos. But will a shy artistic pianist be his answer to figuring out his identity, and the meaning of life? Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion, and sexual identity are the heavy topics to be confessed and satirized in this play based loosely on Charles Schultz's Peanuts characters.

Machinal

By Sophie Treadwell

Directed by Corinne Philbin

Feeling trapped by the mechanical motions of her daily life, a young woman takes it upon herself to break the cycle, through any means possible. A forced marriage, a controlling mother, an affair with a mysterious man, and an unwanted child combine to push her to her breaking point and a tragic result. This play presents a highly stylized and thrilling portrait of 1920s life, and a brutal examination of the ways in which society can provoke a woman's self-destruction.
