PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

Join senior tenor Roman Fenner as he performs an anthology of the modern musical theatre repertoire. Featuring the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Sarah Bareilles, and more, he hopes to share his passion for one of humanity’s oldest art forms.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
The Davidson Concert Series is proud to welcome back the Ivalas Quartet, winners of the 2019 WDAV Young Chamber Musicians Competition. Founded in Ann Arbor in 2016, the Ivalas Quartet comprises violinists Reuben Kebede and Anita Dumar, violist Aimée McAnulty, and cellist Pedro Sánchez. They are currently Graduate Quartet in residence at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they study with the renowned Takács Quartet. Through music, they strive for the highest standard of playing in every performance and to be living proof of the power of diversity in all art forms.

We end our season with a recital by violist, Dr. Marcus Thompson—viola faculty at the New England Conservatory, University Professor at MIT, Artistic Director of the Boston Chamber Music Society, and the first African American to be awarded at doctorate from the Juilliard School. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this underappreciated instrument and works by Bach, Harbison, and Enesco. The recital also features works that have been composed for or premiered by Thompson. The centerpiece of the Sloan Music Center is the 200-seat Tyler-Tallman Hall, an acoustically and visually stunning recital hall. The two-tiered venue is ideal for intimate musical performances and lectures, and is located on the upper floor and features two Steinway concert grand pianos and full audio-visual capacity to host recitals, lectures, and master classes. Tyler-Tallman Hall is on the second floor of the Sloan Music Center, located near the heart of campus, south of Chambers Building and east of the Baker-Watts Science Complex along Concord Road. Parking is conveniently located in the Baker Sports Complex or along Concord Road.
