    Krista Holstein, RYT200

Krista was raised in a community that embraced yoga philosophy. From a young age, she was a student of meditation, breathwork, and the physical practice of yoga. As an adult, Krista began running as a form of both exercise and meditation. She realized that yoga was a natural complement to running; both practices connect mind, body, and breath. Krista began to incorporate a more regular yoga practice into her life, and it noticeably enhanced her physical and mental well-being. She recognized the benefits of yoga and wanted to help others experience the mind-body connection that occurs on the mat. She decided to become a yoga instructor in 2021 and was fortunate to find Loretta Jo Schlatzer at Yoga-Mojo to guide her through the next steps in her yoga journey.

Krista is an academic, a researcher, and an educator. She holds a doctorate in mathematics education and writes curricula for a non-profit company. As a lifelong learner, she knows that there is always room to grow and always more to learn. She understands that yoga is a practice and strives to continually grow, mentally and physically. Moreover, she works to ensure that her classes are evidence-based. In Krista’s yoga class, you will have the opportunity to meditate, connect your breath to your movements, work on alignment, build strength, stretch, and find relaxation and stillness.

    Lisa Woodring, RYT200
Lisa is a software engineer who originally discovered yoga as a way to help curb anxiety, and later, as a counterbalance to running. Having an outlet to explore the body and calm the mind is now an essential part of her life. The yogic relationship between the body, the mind, and the breath — and how that manifests and helps bring a sense of peace — is what keeps her showing up on the mat. A strong but steady flow that gets the breath and the blood moving, while focusing the mind!

Lisa has taken different yoga classes on and off over the years, but found Loretta Jo at Yoga-Mojo in 2014 and became a regular attendee. Practicing yoga on a regular basis became an oasis for her to tune out external stimuli and simply focus on what was happening in the moment, in the body. The practice has helped her to become more flexible and grow stronger, both on and off the mat.

Lisa graduated from Yoga-Mojo’s teacher training in 2019. She has also studied yoga anatomy with David Keil and yoga sequencing with Jason Crandall. She will forever be a student of yoga, and is grateful for the wisdom shared by her teachers. Her goal in teaching yoga is to keep a light-hearted attitude toward playfulness in poses — to keep you not only strong and flexible, but moving with grace. She aims to design her classes with a focus on movements that are key to keeping us all physically young. Lisa’s favorite poses are balance poses, as one really has to focus!

Lisa most often teaches a Vinyasa level 1-2 class. Her classes will start with a few moments of meditation, some warmup to awaken the body, then move into an energizing flow. Classes will conclude with balance poses, some lovely stretches, and finally Savasana. If you like a strong class with a little physical challenge, her classes are for you. Lisa’s approach to yoga is focused on the balance between strength and flexibility, between effort and ease. Her classes combine both strength and mobility work in a dynamic, Vinyasa flow style. Expect to move, sweat, and breathe.
Cary Yoga Collective offers a five-star rated Yoga Alliance registered RYS200 yoga teacher training program and RYS300/500 program beginning Fall 2022.

Heather, E-RYT200, RYT500. Heather initially discovered the soothing benefits of yoga through a local gym she was teaching aerobics at in 1995. At the time, her passion for movement stemmed from a lifelong love for dance, and she was fond of the alignment and lengthening the asanas provided. After being asked to teach a yoga class while working overseas for Club Med, she quickly worked with local instructors to learn a very basic hatha yoga “routine.” Soon, yoga became her favorite class to teach and she began to search for a deeper understanding of the tranquility found through her physical practice. After returning to the state in 1998, Heather was mentored by the founders of Triangle Yoga in Chapel Hill while learning to teach to special populations at the Duke Diet and Fitness Center. Their vast knowledge inspired her to explore many different styles of yoga, and she began a regular home practice. After a ten-year liaison from the fitness business due to long hours in the corporate world and to having children, she was ecstatic to find the Live Your Yoga Teacher Training program at Yoga Garden in 2012! The diverse program allowed her to explore the rich history and spiritual side of yoga, and begin sharing her love for teaching with students again. It’s a privilege to create a tranquil yet challenging environment for people to move in together, and to meet their needs at varying fitness levels. She strives to encourage everyone to practice with a smile on their face, and realize each moment spent in a limb of yoga is a gift. Heather lives in Raleigh with her husband Eddie, daughters Mackenzie and Lauren, and their goddaughter Sunshine. She gratefully works with Infinity Ballet Theatre, a nonprofit company in Apex, NC, and with the beloved staff of Yoga Garden.

In the fall of 2014, Jim hesitantly stepped into his first yoga class at the fitness center where he worked. He was looking for something to help him cope with stress and maybe strengthen his core a little. He quickly went from skeptic to enthusiast. Within a year he was taking three or four classes a week as well as practicing at home. Four years later, wanting to deepen his practice and share this with others, he completed his 230hr RYT training with Yogo-Mojo in Cary, NC.

Yoga, for Jim, is a moving meditation that allows him to connect mind and body to find an inner stillness and peace that remains with him long after his time on the mat. As a teacher, he wishes only to share this experience with others no matter where they are on their journey. Jim’s goal is to create a warm, inviting space for each and every student as he works together with them building strength, finding balance and focusing on breath to ultimately find stillness and peace.
