    PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

     Basic Improv for Adults 


    Ages: 18+


    Teacher: Miriam Naponelli


    Day of the Week: Tuesdays for 4-weeks


    Time: 6:30 – 8:30 PM


    Dates: Tuesday, April 30th thru Tuesday, May 21st 


    Location: St. Mary’s Episcopal Church 210 McHenry Ave Crystal Lake, Il 60014


    Cost: $300


    Hone your skills and build your confidence on stage with this beginner’s improv class. This four-week class will take students through the fundamental tools and skills of improvisational comedy. Through group play, students will learn what it takes to create scenes that are not only funny but smart and dynamic. Through exercises, we will explore ways to create environments in which creativity and improvisational freedom can thrive. Class will finish with a short showcase for friends and family. Improv Fundamentals include:Yes, and, CROW, Questions kill, Specifics, Specifics, Specifics

    Miriam Naponelli is a graduate from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University with a BFA in Acting. Since graduating, Miriam has made a career in theater administration working as the Director of Marketing at Spotlight Youth Theater then at Raue Center for the Arts. Miriam is no stranger to theater education as she has taught improv as well as character acting for several youth theater companies.Miriam has been an ensemble member of GreenRoom Improv for the past 13 years. She is proudly represented by Lily’s Talent.

    Her recent theater credits include; WSRep: Sylvia (Sylvia), WSRep: Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Suzanne/Countess/Admirer). Other credits include, AT&T Cool Factor (Susan, Host).

    REFUND POLICY- In the event that your child cannot participate in the class after you have registered, Raue Center will issue a 50% refund of your registration fee up to two weeks before the start date. After this time period, if your child cannot participate in the class we will refund you 50% of your total fee in the form of a Raue Center gift certificate, redeemable for any upcoming RCSA Class within a year of cancellation, or can be used at Raue Center for tickets, etc. (restrictions may apply). Day of/ after the start of Class drops will not be refunded.

    Movement Matters For Actors (Adult Movement Class)


    Ages: 18+


    Teacher: Tasha Guevara


    Day of the Week: Wednesdays for 4-weeks


    Time: 6:30 – 8:00 PM


    Dates: Wednesday, May 1st thru Wednesday, May 22nd

    Cost: $250 | RaueNow Family: $187.50


    Movement class for actors and non-actors alike that incorporates elements from yoga, Laban Movement Analysis, and breathing techniques. These practices can enhance physical awareness, creativity, and expressiveness.

    Topics to be covered will include:
     Body Awareness: Discover and redirect postural habits to achieve a grounded, centered,
    and dynamic body use. 
     Creative Movement: Unleash your imagination and explore movement improvisation.
     Laban: Dive into Rudolf Laban’s principles of movement analysis and expression.
     Relaxation Exercises: Learn techniques to release tension and access a relaxed state.
     Yoga: Cultivate flexibility, strength, and mindfulness through yoga practices

    Tasha Guevara - Hailing from Trinidad and growing up in Brooklyn New York, Tasha recalls always being deeply impressed by music and movies. Some of her earliest music education moments came via browsing the 45 record collections of her uncles. Though music was among
    her first loves, Tasha for many years pursued her career in Acting and Education. She has held DJ residencies all over NYC and has served as a sound designer for multiple theater companies. She also has several independent movies, TV appearances and commercials under her belt. In her spare time she served as a teaching artist in the NYC school system.

    Scripts for the Screens (Adult Screenwriting Class)


    Ages: 18+

    Let’s get the pen moving.  Students will focus on getting the pen,
    metaphorical or otherwise, moving through writing exercises, free writing, and feedback.  The
    goal of the class is to add to the writer’s toolbox in order to write the scripts without having to
    wait on a fickle muse. This class will help all those enrolled to find and channel their own
    inspiration. 

    Students should be prepared to: Bring a computer, tablet, pen and paper, or whatever modality of
    writing you prefer.

    David Bradburn – Writer/Director - Whether he’s serving as writer, producer, or director, Bradburn wants to do little more than just make movies. His directorial approach draws on his 20 years’ worth of experience as a high school English teacher and focuses on collaboration and inclusion. His leadership and focus inspire his cast and crew’s motivation to realize his creative vision. Bradburn’s films have appeared in over 70 film festivals worldwide, Amazon, cable, and PBS.
