When people hear the term "singer-songwriter" they usually feel the sudden urge to take a nap. Dylan Innes seeks to change this notion. He believes music should be honest and original; bringing feeling to the listener and last but not least be catchy as hell. When Dylan Innes combines with his backing band "the Business" (it rhymes with his name), you'll be wondering if you're at a singer-songwriter show or a face-melting, genre-bending, soul-inspiring display of musicianship.

    PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

Adam began forming the Pseudo Cowboys in 2009 after reconnecting with his former drummer from Earos. The new band made their foray into the Raleigh music scene rapidly with only their second show being on the main stage at the 2009 Bud Light Downtown Live series, sharing the bill with nationally-touring act, Better than Ezra.

Shortly thereafter, the band recorded a full-length demo, “Rehearsals With the Pseudo Cowboys,” wherein they recorded band practices with the intent of capturing the kinetic quality of their live sound instead of making a polished album. The point was to let ‘feeling’ take precedence over perfection. While these early performances and recordings were rough around the edges, Adam felt there was something more honest and emotionally valuable that could be expressed with the band as opposed to playing solo. Simultaneously, the band’s power offered a feeling of transcendence and an outlet for something primal, both characteristics of art lost when performing covers songs for nights on end.

In the years that followed, Adam began integrating modern sonic elements he had developed while performing solo with looping technology into the raw, classic British rock style at the core of the band. Combining this sound with a passion-filled vocal and lyrical style reminiscent of 1990s alternative rock and grunge rock, the Pseudo Cowboys have developed a unique and powerful rock sound all their own.

The Pseudo Cowboys continue to create music and a live show experience that is simultaneously thought-provoking and also a rowdy good time. After a few lineup changes, the band is building steam as one of NC’s few remaining rock groups that attempts to honor the bold and dynamic facets of classic rock bands, while reframing the sound for modern times. Intense passion and joy are palpable at every Pseudo Cowboys show, granting audiences the freedom to be overcome by the music along with the band.

The band’s story is just beginning. Their following growing with every performance, the Pseudo Cowboys continue to release exciting new original songs and music videos, which they hope to introduce to greater audiences throughout NC and beyond.

Adam is a singer, drummer, and composer based out of Atlanta, GA. Throughout his 10-year career as a professional drummer, he has worked with artists such as Joe Gransden, the Bill Peterson Trio, Fred Wesley, Katie Skene, the Brown Goose, Kat Hall, the Steve Gilmore Quartet, the Blues Factor Band, Brittany Howard, Duane Betts, and George Clinton. He has had the opportunity to open for artists such as the Revivalists, the Nth Power, and KRS-1 and to play festivals such as Suwannee Hulaween, Savannah Music Festival, and New Orleans Jazz Fest.

After 7 years of Adam’s first band out of Tallahassee, FL: Urban Soul, the group of funksters decided it was time to say goodbye to the band and birth a new project. Urban Soul at this point is no longer your typical band; we're a collective of hidden talent and deep pocket that lies amongst the entire southeastern region. We run our ship less like the Meters or the Beatles and more like the Funk Brothers or the Wrecking Crew. The new funk collective would be named The Testifiers in 2020.

Josephine Gore grew up singing in Spring Hill Baptist Church alongside her father who was the church pianist and deacon. The daddy-daughter duo performed extensively at churches and revivals throughout southeastern North Carolina. Church audiences were enthralled with the four-year-old's ability to memorize an entire catalog of hymns and spirituals. She was the little girl with the big voice.

As a teenager, she would plunder through her grandfather's record collection, playing albums by Mahalia Jackson, Ray Charles, James Brown and Nina Simone. She's been hooked on jazz, blues, and soul ever since.

Jo Gore mesmerizes audiences with her angelic voice and electrifying stage presence while remaining true to her love of R&B and jazz standards. Each performance is full of love, life, music, and story-telling. These days, she's the woman with the big voice and audiences are still enthralled.

In 2023, vocalist & producer Mia Brunal teamed up with guitarist & recording engineer Tom Detrick to meld the saccharine aesthetic & sensibilities of modern hyperpop artists (Brakence, 100 Gecs, Charlie XCX) with the powerful, dark, scream-crying-in-the-rain-angst of yesteryear’s emo titans (My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, Taking Back Sunday) into a brand new, never before heard sound. Dotingly, they call this new genre “Hyper-Rock.”

At age 44, Wes Collins and his wife Anita made a pact to become writers: she started writing fiction and Wes penned his first song. A few years later, they were both multi-award-winners in their fields. Collins more than makes up for lost time with songs so dense with ideas that a first listen only scratches the surface. Come for a haunting melody and some intricate fingerpicking and stay for the wit and deep literary intelligence. There is always more to find in a Wes Collins song.

And now Wes is flanked by musical heavyweights FJ Ventre on bass and harmonies, Scott Dameron on guitars, and Barry Gray on guitar, cajon, drums and harmonies. The call themselves the Wes Collins Band, and they drive, groove, and tiptoe. Yeah, all those things.

    Come see what we mean.
