Every Wednesday means Trivia and Karaoke night!  We host trivia seasons that run for 10 weeks.  Our Spring tournament starts on 2/28/24 and runs until 5/1/24.  Trivia teams can have up to six people.  Weekly trivia prizes include gift cards to 185 King Street / Noblebräu Brewing and tickets to upcoming converts.  We also award the team that has the highest score at the end of the season 6 tickets to our next beer dinner.  This season's beer dinner will be held on 5/28/24.  We drop each teams two lowest scores so that if you miss a week or two you still have a chance.   

Karaoke starts at 9:00 and goes until 11:00.  Check our facebook page for updates on theme nights!   We are 21+ after 9:00 pm.

Virtuoso musician Eric Congdon is one of Western North Carolinas  most engaging and popular artists.  Voted #1 Guitarist in Mountain XPress, his amazing musicianship always thrills audiences no matter what he's playing.   He will be playing several Thursdays throughout the season with different featured guests each week.  This week he will be joined by Hope Griffin.  

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Hope Griffin was literally born into music. Surrounded by a musical family, she began singing and performing when she was very young. Hope first got turned onto the idea of writing her own music when she received a guitar at age 17. She attended Carson-Newman University and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in classical voice. It was there that her true flair for songwriting developed. Hope’s drive to perform her original works was launched after winning a songwriters contest in college in 2007. She eventually moved to Asheville, North Carolina where she began introducing her angelic vocals and folky lyrics into the music scene.

Cody Hale Siniard is a singer/songwriter from Penrose, North Carolina.  His debut album, 100 Miles to Nashville, was released in 2023 and has been rising in popularity.  Songs such as Wouldn't Mind, Grass is Greener and Like the Rain Does are currently being played weekly on country radio in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.  

 

Artists such as Woody Platt, have shown interest in Cody's music.  So much so, that Woody plans to record one of Cody's singles, Like the Rain Does, and release it on his own record.  Cody will be accompanied by his wife, Jonlyn Linville, on stage along with JT Linville and Eric Henninger."

Local singer/songwriter, Mabry Robinson, will open the show.  Mabry was born and raised here in Brevard, North Carolina.  He grew up playing music with his family and became inspired by artists such as James Taylor and Jim Croce at a very young age.  Mabry currently has multiple singles available for streaming on all media platforms.

Brushfire Stankgrass is an Asheville-based bluegrass fusion group featuring brothers Ben & Will Saylor (banjo/guitar/vocals), Micah Thomas (drums) and Daniel Iannucci (bass.) Now in their tenth year with its current lineup, the band has released four studio albums to date, with two more records underway tracked at Asheville’s famed Echo Mountain Studios.

Launched in August of 2020, Tuesday Casual Collaborations at 185 King Street has become a cornerstone of the vibrant Brevard music community. Every week Travis Book assembles a unique group of musicians for a one-time-only show, drawing on his vast network of friends and growing repertoire of musical styles. From Bluegrass to Blues, Songwriter to Americana, Country to Funk, Travis and his ever-evolving cast of local and national (even international) musicians consistently hit the sweet spot between preparation and spontaneity. “Eventually, I hope to play with everyone!” he occasionally boasts, and he’s well on his way. Travis has hosted a wide range of musicians, including: Anders Beck, Nicki Bluhm, Josh Daniel, Beppe Gambetta, Mike Guggino, Vince Herman, Sierra Hull, Cris Jacobs, Jim Lauderdale, Lindsay Lou, Steve McMurry, Mimi Naja, Tim O’Brien, Woody Platt, Jon Stickley, Kyle Tuttle, and Cristina Vane. He also regularly employs the skills of world-class local musicians like Jeff Sipe, Mike Ashworth, Tommy Maher, Bennett Sullivan, and Derick Gardner. Every week is unique, the musical styles wide-ranging, but the one thing that remains constant is the intention, positivity, and charisma that Travis brings to each and every show.

Travis is on the road this week touring so he is handing the hosting microphone over to trusted friend, and Tuesday regular; Tommy Maher.  Tommy will be joined by some of his bandmates from Fireside Collective for the show.

This week's theme is "Play It Again" which means Patrick will be asking questions that he has asked in the past.  If you are a regular to 185 Trivia you will be testing you memory skills, for all those of you who are new it will be like a regular night of trivia.  Prizes include gift certificates and tickets to upcoming shows.

Free show - In September 2018 Seth & Sara  both quit their jobs, sold everything they owned, and moved across the country to Asheville, NC to start pursuing a full time career in music. The Nighthawks was an idea in Mark Wenner’s brain long before he was able to
implement it. The musical product of pre-1958 radio in Washington, D.C., he did not
know there were rules against mixing blues, R&B, honky-tonk country, doo-wop, gospel
and rockabilly into one delicious stew.

In 1972, Mark, then 23, returned to his hometown after a New York City band
apprenticeship, eager to start a real, work-every-night band based on American roots
music. He found a receptive local scene. Washington has long been a musical melting-
pot of the kind that made Memphis the source point for the evolution of American music
in the second half of the 20 th Century. It just never had a Stax or Sun record label to tell
the world. As the city exploded with an influx of people from all the surrounding states
during the Great Depression and World War II, Washington became a hotbed of musical
cross-fertilization. When Bill Haley first brought his wacky Pennsylvania mix of hillbilly
music and rhythm and blues to D.C. in 1952, people got it. And white kids like Mark
found the Howard Theater – now recently restored and part of the historic top tier of the
Chitlin’ Circuit that included Baltimore’s Royal, Chicago’s Regal and New York’s Apollo
– just a 25-cent bus ride away from the suburbs.
