For over 55 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk and soul music. “We were a Soul band called The Motowns.” recalls Emilio Castillo. “Rocco was the bass player, I was there, and my brother was the drummer. I met “Doc” Kupka back in 1968, and gave him an audition. He came in the band, and we eventually changed our name to the Tower of Power.” The reason for the band name change was that they had a specific goal in mind.

2024 Membership - Friends of Cain Park

Born Troy Andrews, Trombone Shorty got his start (and nickname) earlier than most: at four he made his first appearance at Jazz Fest performing with Bo Diddley; at six, he was leading his own brass band; and by his teenage years, he was hired by Lenny Kravitz to join the band he assembled for his Electric Church World Tour. Shorty’s proven he’s more than just a horn player, though. Catch a gig, open the pages of the New York Times or Vanity Fair, flip on any late-night TV show and you’ll see an undeniable star with utterly magnetic charisma, a natural born showman who can command an audience with the best of them. Since 2010, he’s released four chart topping studio albums; toured with everyone from Jeff Beck to the Red Hot Chili Peppers; collaborated across genres with Pharrell, Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Foo Fighters, ZHU, Zac Brown, Normani, Ringo Starr, and countless more; played Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Newport Folk, Newport Jazz, and nearly every other major festival; performed four times at the GRAMMY Awards, five times at the White House, on dozens of TV shows, and at the star-studded Sesame Street Gala, where he was honored with his own Muppet; launched the Trombone Shorty Foundation to support youth music education; and received the prestigious Caldecott Honor for his first children’s book. He's a rapper, songwriter, record producer, actor, and philanthropist, born Antwan André Patton. You can often find him in your favorite rapper's "Top Five" and with good reason. Over two decades since he first crash landed, it's nearly impossible to escape his influence. Of course, he made history as the preeminent spitter of the Dungeon Family and one-half of OutKast. The legendary duo sold 25 million albums and garnered seven GRAMMY® Awards, becoming the first and only hip-hop artist in history to win the GRAMMY® for “Album of the Year” upon release of the 2003 RIAA Diamond-certified Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

Los Lonely Boys are the GRAMMY® Award-winning multiplatinum San Angelo, Texas trio consisting of Henry Garza [vocals, guitar], Jojo Garza [bass, vocals], and Ringo Garza [drums]. Her voice, rich and velvety yet precociously refined, has already earned her fans like Regina King and Elton John, appearances on the TODAY Show, The Tonight Show w/Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show w/Stephen Colbert, CBS Mornings, MSNBC, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Drew Barrymore, etc., in addition to millions of likes on TikTok—cementing her status as perhaps the first Gen Z jazz singing star. Linger Awhile introduced that massive audience to a slew of classic standards several times older than she is through her timeless, irresistible sound. Steve Earle is one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of his generation. A protege of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, he quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, with his songs being recorded by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, The Pretenders, and countless others. 1986 saw the release of his record, Guitar Town, which shot to number one on the country charts and is now regarded as a classic of the Americana genre. Earle has published both a novel and collection of short stories; produced albums for other artists such as Joan Baez and Lucinda Williams, and acted in films, television (including David Simon’s acclaimed The Wire), and on the stage. Mr. Earle was recently inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Over the past 17 years, the MultiMusicFest (MMF), has been the biggest fundraiser for the MC Chatman Center.

Your attendance at this benefit generates funds for MC Chapman Center programs. These include daycare; employment assistance; food pantry; clothing and school supply assistance; tutoring and computer classes, and scholarships, among others. These programs assist thousands of people in inner city Cleveland and beyond every year.  

This annual event is designed to bring a diversified audience together to celebrate the art of great musical entertainment. 

2024's MultiMusicFest features Grammy Award nominee singer-songwriter Kenny Lattimore who grooved last year to his second #1 Billboard charting hit with "Take A Dose", Grammy-winning keyboardist, composer & producer Jeff Lorber who just released his 30th studio album and R&B smooth jazz saxophonist Kirk Whalum who has had successful solo albums in addition to his career as a session musician for artists like Barbara Streisand, Al Jarreau, Luther Vandross, Larry Carlton, Quincy Jones and most notably, Whitney Houston -it's his sax heard on the mega-hit, “I Will Always Love You.”

Our opening act will be local vocalist Stacey Richardson, professionally known as Sarah's Girl as a tribute to her late mother, Sarah Weeden Richardson. She began singing with her family’s gospel choir, the Weeden Family Singers at the age of 3. Most recently she has performed with Hubb's Groove.

Mark Ribbins and Carmen Kennedy will host the event. 

VIP ticket buyers are automatically entered into raffle drawings to take place day of show. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing.
