PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Common Blah is the debut full-length by Portland, Maine's Weakened Friends. Founded by songwriter Sonia Sturino, bassist Annie Hoffman, and drummer Cam Jones in 2015, the trio is a low-pressure outlet for emotionally volatile music. Engineered and produced by Hoffman and perfected over the last year, the record broadcasts heavy feelings amid screech and feedback with little more than a distortion pedal the clog up the signal chain.

Many of the songs reckon with deep mid-20s malaise — with the feeling of being young, stuck, and settling for less. ͞Sometimes, things look good on the outside, but they͛re not working. That͛s how it used to be for me. I͛d hear, ͚You have a really cool job. You live in a cool city. Your band is cool.͛ It was ͚Common Blah͛ though because I was miserable. I didn͛t care. Now, I͛m at the other end of the spectrum. People do something that they think they͛re supposed to do when it͛s not what they should be doing and it doesn͛t make them happy. In a lot of ways, this is the first time I͛ve found happiness. I wrote the lyrics about the time before that happiness.
On Common Blah, Weakened Friends use volume — instrumental and emotional — to reassert a sense of control in a time when daily life has slid out of tune. The album also features guest shredding by peer and kindred spirit J Mascis on the song Hate Mail. Common Blah will be out on CD, LP, and digital download via Don Giovanni Records on October 19th.

In 1967, George Romero gathered a handful of Pittburgh's industrial film and TV commercial producers — they all wanted to make a movie. A horror film seemed like the right idea to them, and with a half-written script, they secured a house scheduled for demolition, clothes from goodwill, buckets of chocolate syrup, and various pieces of flesh from a local butcher. The scrappy, gory, black-and-white movie they made is a landmark of horror films, and created the zombie genre.

This showing is a new look at Night of the Living Dead. Ben Singer has re-edited the soundtrack, composed a new film score, and will perform the music live, accompanied by drummer Nicholas Falk.

"Some of the most refreshingly unhinged guitar recorded in this century." - New York Music Dail
"[Naylor] creates a language all his own...[and] comes across as a mix between a guitar-slinging Colin Stetson and a guitar-slinging Fred Frith, with the result (and main takeaway) being that he’s a pretty competent guitar slinger, no matter what style he’s tackling." - The Critical Masses

This Sound Machine, built of guitar, sax, bass, and drum, employs modern technique in revolutionizing post-rock grooves and confronts you while you head-bang your way across the dance floor. Guitarist Xander Naylor’s work, which has been recognized by New York Music Daily as "Some of the most refreshingly unhinged guitar recorded in this century,” uses myriad rhythmic influences to solidly bond the machine’s language of sound. Executed by an all-star group of musicians who perform all over the world, XNSM supplies a power surge of cohesive sound that stops just short of overwhelming your brain, allowing you to live fully in the moment and embrace what is possible.

Naylor's latest album, Transmission, out October 26, 2018 on the Chhandayan label, features drummer Dan Weiss, tabla master Samir Chatterjee, and a slew of other innovators from New York City.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Sometimes the best way for artists to keep pushing ahead is to remember who their people are –especially when they're the ones they've known for ages and have been itching to work with from the very start. Stef Alexander and Andy Bothwell, respectively known as P.O.S and Astronautalis, have been making guest appearances on each other's records for over ten years, and date their friendship back even further. That makes a collaborative project like Four Fists both inevitable and necessary at the same time: it's the team-up of two of Minneapolis' most stylistically fearless artists, both of whom simultaneously inhabit the worlds of hip-hop and indie-punk in a way that the Twin Cities music community has always welcomed.

Raleigh, North Carolina's Morning Bells, an eclectic mix of musicians and long-time friends, create songs hope, of loss, of adoration, of anger, and of love

Our musical influences include pop, goth, industrial, new wave, metal, R&B, country, and rockabilly. To say we are an "alternative rock" band could be an understatement, but it's the closest description of this conglomerate that can be suggested. It has been said that no two Morning Bells' songs sound the same, and we take this as a great compliment.

Every band, every artist, has a story to tell and feelings to evoke through their work, and Morning Bells hopes you will hear some of your own story in our songs, and that you'll travel with us for as far as the journey takes us. And, in case you were wondering, Morning Bells are Laura Weislo, Emory Ball, Peele Wimberly, Bryan Fransman, and Ric Denton.

We all need a new call to action. A new jolt of optimism. If you will, a New Reveille.

Especially those of us who know the power of music as it once was… before computers started smoothing rough edges, before writers fell into step with paeans to parties and beer and the like, songs could cast spells. They could change the way people thought and felt. They touched on life and death.

They were real — as real as the five-piece ensemble known as New Reveille.

On The Keep, their inaugural album for Loud & Proud Records, New Reveille’s distinctive talents find common ground in traditions that stretch back to and beyond early America. On that foundation, through their varied gifts, they build a unique sound that encompasses the virtues of music that came before and the promise of what it might yet become.

Begin with their sound. Amy Kamm on lead vocals, Daniel Cook on banjo and guitar, George Hage on guitar, Autumn Brand on violin — an Americana lineup so far. But there’s also Kaitlin Grady on cello, adding a classical element, combining with Autumn in mini-orchestral textures and melodies. Cook’s banjo avoids flashy patterns, instead harks back to a pre-bluegrass era. As for the vocals, Kamm dances deftly between artful interpretive solo parts and three-part female harmonies that somehow soar, caress, and electrify all at once.
