    Psymon Spine
Psymon Spine’s latest album ‘Charismatic Megafauna’ explored complicated feelings and catharsis through a singular approach to left-of-center indie, electronic and dance sounds. The release earned praise from publications such as Paste, FLOOD, Brooklyn Vegan, Under The Radar, and NME, and saw playlist support from NPR Music (New Music Friday), Spotify (All New Indie, undercurrents, Fresh Finds), Apple Music (Midnight City, Today’s Indie Rock), and TIDAL (Rising: Indie/Rock), as well as notable airplay from KEXP, KCRW and the BBC.  The core members of the band—Noah Prebish, Peter Spears, and Brother Michael—grew up in the ‘00s and ‘10s with a deep appreciation for the art of “the remix,” and after the release of ‘Charismatic Megafauna’, the group found themselves craving longer and more dance-floor friendly versions of their songs to play at their recurring party Secret Friend.

    May Rio
May Rio's first record Easy Bammer was released in June 2021 via DPI (Grace Ives, Model/Actriz), right as New York’s nightlife began to rouse from its pandemic slumber. Ready to meet the moment, May threw herself into a trial-by-fire gig grind, playing upwards of three shows a week for months on end. During this self-prescribed performance bootcamp, she befriended a group of like-minded emerging artists. Over the past year May has brought her innate knack for melody to a variety of features including The Dare’s indie sleaze hit “Girls” and Blaketheman1000’s underground smash, “Blake 2.” If there’s a keystone to New York’s downtown music sphere, it might very well be May. Her latest solo release is, French Bath, which takes its title from a deceptively luxurious act of dousing oneself in cologne to disguise an unsavory stench.

    gloss
Gloss, a Philadelphia-based pop fusion band formed in 2019, comprises the dynamic talents of Isabella Amada (bass), Corinne Kite-Dean (guitar), Mollie Schechter (drums), and Sophia Grosshauser (vocals/keys/aux percussion). Emerging from a desire to address the gender gap in music at the University of the Arts, Mollie and Sophia initiated the formation in 2019. Drawing influences from jazz, synth pop, funk, Latin, and more, Gloss's sound defies easy categorization. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Gloss persisted in creating music, releasing their first EP with remote collaborations. Their momentum accelerated after landing notable gigs, including opening for Pom Pom Squad and Fleece. The band's second EP, "Are You Okay?," sold out its release show in less than a week, marking a significant milestone. With a growing fan base and a commitment to reinventing their discography, Gloss signed with management, Elton Audio, in 2023, signaling a new era of dedication and creativity for the band.

    Graduation Speech

As musicians change, so does their music. It’s an unavoidable truth that some fans hold against their favorite artists, but an artist’s evolution also yields some of their most powerful music. Case in point: New Jersey’s Graduation Speech was conceived when Kevin Day sought a quieter creative outlet separate from his band Aspiga. Though the intimate acoustic project differed dramatically from Aspiga’s brand of blown-speaker pop-punk, it opened new doors for Day as a songwriter. Now, after six years of releases, Graduation Speech is ready with Arcane Feelings, an EP that noticeably features six full-band songs, building on 2021’s Maintenance Required. On that EP, Day called on friends to add guitars, drums, keys, and percussion, showing what Graduation Speech could look like with more rhythm and layers. Where previous Graduation Speech releases were quiet, personal — perfect for an acoustic house show living room — the songs on Arcane Feelings are written for a small stage in the back of a bar, the crowd knocking shoulders, nodding to the beat as they nurse their beers. That's in no small part due to the addition of Billy Bollinger (Crucial Dudes), Brandon Iacometta (Crucial Dudes), and Pat Pie rounding out this new lineup. “Henry,” for example, bounces, rowdy and antsy, to Pie’s stamping drums, acoustic chords jangling between the beats. Bollinger’s long, electric leads drip across the verses throughout Arcane Feelings, but also add texture and heat. On “Get Lost,” guitars glint like the summer sun off of chrome; on “No Confidence,” they smolder following the first chorus, send clean plumes of smoke into the second verse. But even the slower, quieter songs—those most reminiscent of previous Graduation Speech albums—still feel weightier with a full band.

    Night Windows
Where do I go from here? Everyone is getting older. I’m losing people both to death and life. I’ve written about the sadness that comes with the gift of life, but never like this. This time, I leaned as hard into the sadness as necessary in order to feel better. “In Memories is a huge step forward from a band that already ruled, but really benefits from the format of full band arrangements interspersed with the more solo-born experiments or just differently fleshed out songs. It's a really dynamic set of songs that I could see people getting really excited about, especially with the way bands like Wednesday, MJ Lenderman, and Big Thief have gotten folks excited about a specific kind of wood-grained songwriting that Night Windows isn't totally like, but could appeal to fans of.” -Fred Thomas

    Taggart
Upon the release of their most recent album album Philadelphia Magazine wrote “The “alt” tag usually makes us suspicious, but this veteran Philly band has earned it. Taggart‘s spent two decades making the sort of jangly, catchy, thrift-store t-shirt rock that would’ve fit nicely on a college radio playlist circa 1990”. A Philadelphia institution for over 20 years Taggart has never taken a break from writing, performing and recording. In 2022 they celebrated the 25th anniversary of their first album with its first vinyl release and now are back to working on a batch of new songs for their next album.

    AVOID
Engaging, edgy, erratic, irreverent, wild, vibrant, fun... There's certainly no shortage of adjectives to describe AVOID and their quest to fuel that feeling of being a part of something. Evoking a nostalgia for the kind of music that seeps into your soul, the Seattle five piece channel the musical legacy synonymous with their hometown while blissfully genre hopping to create something entirely new. Good times with a message of inclusivity, with a drive to bring passion, innovation and provocation back to heavy music and pull in the community around it, AVOID crackle with the energy of a young act ready to take the world by storm. Carving his own path hustling promoting shows and managing bands, the band’s inimitable future frontman Benny Scholl knew early on the dedication it would take to be successful in the music business. Meeting impressive guitarist Nick Olson, he turned his hand to playing music, deciding he would be unlike any other frontman he had seen, and on enlisting Chris Echols (guitar), Luke Ryder (bass), Paul Jaton (drums) some of the top talent in the local scene became AVOID, releasing their debut album Alone in 2018. While the world fell silent in 2020, the band seized the moment to make noise with the release of their attention-grabbing EP The Burner - and it got LOUD. Securing a sponsorship with NASCAR which turned their passion into promotion, they had their  music and band branded vehicle in the official video game. Singer Benny Scholl went viral with his accidentally acapella rendition of the National Anthem at the NASCAR Vegas race, endearing himself to sports commentator Jim Rome who ran with coverage of the event for weeks. They also forged a long term partnership with SiriusXM, taking over the airwaves on Octane and Liquid Metal with ambassador single “Song About James”, which incorporated their lyrical muse James “Jeopardy James” Holtzhauer in its marketing. With new tracks “My World”, “COWABUNGA” and “Split (Kill It)” setting the tone for a new era for the band, and their live show reputation building more buzz daily, AVOID are ready to spread their brand of infectious hedonism that injects some magic into the mundane. Bringing twists on the art, and the media and methods of the 90s/00s into the modern day, this is the something new that we have all been craving. This is the start of something important, something defining - and AVOID are bringing everyone along for the ride. Hold on tight, it’s about to get weird.

    Layto
Layto [aka Paul Catalano] was born and raised in Boston. Being the youngest of five, in the midst of family turmoil and dysfunction, music became an escape.Growing up, Layto was exposed to many different types of music through his parents and even taught himself to play the piano. Gradually, he grew a deep appreciation for melody, and with an already established passion for writing, it was a natural progression. After dropping out of college one credit shy of his degree in English, the focus shifted to his music. In 2018, Layto independently released his debut EP ‘Low Boy’ featuring single “Little Poor Me” which quickly gained traction from Sirius XM’s ALT Nation & now has over 50 million streams worldwide. Now with over 150 million catalog streams, Layto will be moving forward with Position Music Group as a label partner after inking a deal in June 2022. Layto has an intensity about his style, delivery and blending of alt rock, pop, and hip/hop elements. His music has given a voice to the millions who suffer from anxiety and depression.“When we get into the studio to cut a record, I’m always hyperaware of not trying to create something I could picture another artist singing. I want every track to feel like a Layto song, and with every release we continue to define what that means”

Coming off of the release of their debut LP, "Sad but True", the boys have been out on the road! This show has become the favorite amongst members and audiences alike, with a sonic rollercoaster, akin to the plot of a great American classic, with gripping performances and storytelling, and celebratory beverages following. Stephen Amoruso (bass/vocals), Jamaal Farrow (drums), and Kristian Lietzan (guitarist/singer/songwriter) configure the emotional folk-and-roll band, Virginia Man. With poetic lyrics bellowing over the sounds of middle Appalachia, these gentlemen champion the sound of their homeland: a strange suspension between the cardinal directions, musical genres, and the changing of seasons.

    Jesse Roper
Based in Victoria, BC, Jesse Roper is a blues/Americana artist with a penchant for writing modern indie-infused blues music and delivering bombastic live performances buoyed by his virtuosic guitar playing. His innate and impressive musical talent has served him well, giving him the flexibility to play with soul icon Booker T. Jones, rock veteran Colin James, blues belter Beth Hart, and Canadian legend Burton Cummings. The stage is where Roper shines. It has been his home since overcoming crippling stage fright during his early twenties. Fear is a part of Roper’s past that barely seems real today - especially when you see the in-concert image of a six-string soldier, hair matted to his face, tearing up the stage, without a hint of second-guessing. Roper’s last album ‘Horizons’ marked a sonic high point in his career thus far. Working closely with famed JUNO-nominated producer Gus van Go (Metric, The Stills, Whitehorse, Arkells, The Trews, Sam Roberts) on that new collection of songs has pushed Roper into creating some of his best work. “Recording with Gus and Werner F was on a whole new level. Roper released the first single off his upcoming LP (to be released in late 2023) "Make It All Work Out" on March 29th, 2023. The song charted on Canadian terrestrial and satellite radio throughout the spring and early summer. Now all eyes are on the next release, “Throw This Rope” produced by Gus van Go (Metric, Whitehorse, Sam Roberts Band). The song will be the second of multiple energetic, fresh, soulful and r&b inspired tracks from a forthcoming LP that harkens the voices of JJ Cale, The Teskey Brothers, Ben Harper and others - while maintaining Roper's strong and unique expression in the genre. When asked to describe the song, Jesse remarks, "Throw This Rope is about being told how to run your life and career by folks who are currently running theirs aground. I sure don’t know everything and I never will but I’ve been given every manner of advice from folks who have no idea what they're talking about. It’s frustrating sometimes."

    Pressing Strings
When music is given the benefit of instinct, imagination and inspiration, the results are guaranteed to be good. So it ought to come as no surprise that the critically-acclaimed Annapolis Maryland-based trio, appropriately dubbed Pressing Strings, has infused those elements within their musical mantra from the beginning. The band — Jordan Sokel (Guitar/Vocals), Nick Welker (Bass, Vocals), and Justin Kruger (Drums, Vocals) can trace its origins to Sokel’s initial fascination with some iconic influences, among them, the usual suspects — Dylan, Marley, Simon, Withers, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin, etc., as well as some more under the radar artists like Taj Mahal, R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, and Nick Drake. Fascination became fulfillment once he picked up the guitar and started writing songs. That’s when his course became clear. After growing up in New Jersey and Arizona, he eventually moved to Arnold, Maryland to attend high school and eventually university at Salisbury University. However once there, he found he began having doubts about his career choice. That’s when he made it his mission to pursue his musical muse. Still in college, he formed Pressing Strings with one of his buddies.
