PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
“They say you don’t have the capacity to be scholars. So read everything. Learn everything. Know the philosophers, and then think for yourselves.” It's 1896 and four women begin their studies at Girton, the first college to allow women at Cambridge University. However, unlike their male peers, no matter how hard they study, the Girton girls are denied degrees upon graduation. They leave as “Blue Stockings”—educated and intellectual, but both unqualified for the workforce and unmarriageable in the eyes of good society. A sharp, comical, and inspiring story of young women confronting the challenges of life and love, while fighting for their right to graduate.

Please note: This production is taking place off-site at Performance Works, 1218 Cartwright St, Vancouver.

RISKY NIGHTS Public Onsale: October 3, 2022 11:58 AM to October 16, 2022 8:00 PM

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

enough is enough is enough
a natural fantasia
An original production created and performed by fourth term students
Directed by Cameron Peal
Live in S032, October 11–16, 2022

Content advisories: Mature themes, including death and sex

What is enough? How do we know it, when it is present? What does it look like? If we look back on life, can we see where we weren’t aware of it? Is it more clear after we pass away? How does “enough-ness” show up in our lives? What does it look like when it shows up in people? If we saw it, could we name that we saw it? What if we don’t know? What if we don’t know that we don’t know? Perhaps this show might help clarify these curiosities?

Now in its 21st season, the Risky Nights Series is an opportunity to bridge classroom work and mainstage productions. Students in their fourth term of training create and perform every aspect of an original theatre piece with a professional director.

Please note: Risky Nights is by donation only. This is a reservation fee.
