Join us for a curated presentation of song and spoken word in honor of Black Women’s History Month featuring gospel singer, historian, and educator Mary D. Williams.

Williams has a voice and a presence that demand attention. She has captured the hearts and minds of people across North Carolina and our region who’ve witnessed her chronicle the history of the Civil Rights movement through song.

Born and raised in Garner, Williams grew up spending summers with her grandparents in Smithfield, N.C. Music was an integral part of her daily life – her father was a quartet singer and her grandmother was always singing.

Williams weaves together African American spirituals from the Civil War era with more modern anthems of the Civil Rights Movement, connecting generations of music and social change.

Join Sean Dietrich – a.k.a. Sean of The South – for a little storytelling, a little music, and a lot of heart on Thursday, June 6, at 7:00pm. Presented by Musical Concepts Inc.

Dietrich will be playing songs from his album “Porch Music,” as well as sharing stories of growing up in the American South. After the show, join him for a meet and greet, where he'll be hugging necks, shaking hands, and signing books.

The writer, musician, and stand-up storyteller first appeared at The Clayton Center in 2022. Since then he has performed at the Grand Ole Opry three times, published two new books, and released his first full-length album entitled "Porch Music."

From "A Boy Named Sue" to "Ring of Fire" to "Rusty Cage," Johnny Folsom 4 is the ultimate tribute to the legendary Man in Black. While nobody really sounds like Johnny Cash, nobody sounds more like Johnny Cash than Johnny Folsom 4.

Lead singer David Burney’s lilting southern baritone delivers Cash’s classic songs so well you may well wonder from time to time if Johnny himself is in the building.
David Gresham fills the shoes of Luther and Carl Perkins on those classic guitar licks, while Randy Benefield (drums) and Steve Eisenstadt (bass) provide that hallmark, train-like rhythm the whole world knows and loves.

Tom Cotter took the comedy scene by storm in 2012 after becoming the first comedian to make the finals on NBC's America's Got Talent. He was the runner up and breakout star that year and the highest finishing human (He lost to Olate Dogs). Tom's other TV credits include The Tonight Show, his own half hour special Comedy Central Presents... Tom Cotter and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Tom regularly performs in America's most famous comedy clubs and has been featured at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, The HBO Comedy Arts Festival and headlining in Las Vegas with America's Got Talent Live at The Palazzo Hotel
and Casino.
