Marvel Years Bio

Cory Wythe, the producer and guitarist better known as Marvel Years, has found a welcome place for himself within the increasingly popular glitch-hop / electro-soul dance music scene. In just a short period of time, his progression has become outright impossible to ignore. Much more than your average DJ/producer, Marvel Years incorporates electric guitar in his live performances. His approach to blending electronic beats and shredding soulful guitar on his original tracks and remixes creates a sound that is a unique hybrid of EDM combing glitch, retro-funk, classic rock, soul, jazz and hip-hop. “Classic rock has been a huge influence on me,” Wythe explains. “I love breathing new life into those older songs. I think that’s a good medium for bringing new listeners into my music because they can relate to that stuff. I improvise (on live guitar) over a lot of my stuff.”

Maddy O'Neal
With a sound that is ever-changing and coined ‘signature,’ Maddy O’Neal glows amongst her fellow artists across the globe and stands out of the pack as truly remarkable. And that is just where she sets her aim -- for being ordinary is not in her DNA. Growing up with two wildly creative parents set the tone for Maddy’s life path, and soon her expression was formed by way of soulful melodic overtones, driven basslines, and glitched out hip hop grooves. “When you hear Maddy O’Neal, you know it’s Maddy O’Neal” and the more you get to know her, the more you realize this is something different.

Maddy O’Neal has played Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Summer Camp, Summer Meltdown, Red Rocks (x2) and many more. Her touring resume is long and accomplished by supporting such artists as Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, The Floozies, Cherub, SunSquabi, Manic Focus, Russ Liquid and so on.

JD Simo... The Chicago-born, now Nashville transplant is like a one-man crusade dedicated to keeping music real, raw, and honest. No matter the setting and no matter his role (whether it’s wingman or bandleader)  J.D.’s presence infuses the situation of the moment with the music that’s been fueling him pretty much his whole life, spiced with influences that straddle both decades and dimensions. As a songwriter, guitarist, and producer he has worked with the likes of Jack White, Tommy Emmanuel, Luther Dickinson, Dave Cobb, Blackberry Smoke, and even been a member of Grateful Dead founder Phil Lesh' "Phil & Friends".  Now he comes forth with his most unique, original and rawest effort yet… “Mind Trouble”. During lockdown in '20, he started cutting tracks in his makeshift studio on a weekly basis. Joined by longtime collaborator Adam Abrashoff on drums and the addition of longtime friend, bassist-producer-engineer Adam Bednarik (Justin Townes Earle), they mused a proverbial soup of shared influences.

Hill country trance blues of Junior Kimbrough, RL Burnside and Asie Payton. Hypnotic Afro Beat of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen. Psychedelic warps of Captain Beefheart, Funkadelic, and Jimi Hendrix. The old school blues of John Lee Hooker, Earl Hooker and Lightnin Hopkins. As well as the raw fuzzy rock of The Stooges and Nirvana. Mind Control is the product of 3 like minded buddies huddled in a humble setting, making music to make them feel good. The songs stark revealing nature, is the product of them using the creative process for therapy and enjoyment.

GA-20: Blues music is revered for its timelessness. The best blues –no matter how old –sounds as fresh and visceral today as it did when first recorded. The high-energy electric blues trio GA-20 –guitarist Matt Stubbs, guitarist/vocalist Pat Faherty, and drummer Tim Carman –know this well. Since first forming in 2018, GA-20 has drawn inspiration for their primal, original music from late 1950s/early 1960s blues, R&B and rock ‘n’ roll. They use rare and vintage gear (including at times the famed Gibson GA-20 amplifier for which the band is named), creating powerfully raw, driving music that is at once traditional and refreshingly modern. The band’s dynamic self-penned songs sound and feel as fresh and real as the old blues they love and perform, including songs by Otis Rush, J.B. Lenoir, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Wells and especially their favorite, Hound Dog Taylor. According to Stubbs, “Not enough people know just how cool Hound Dog Taylor was.”Legendary six-fingered Chicago bluesman Theodore Roosevelt “Hound Dog” Taylor always knew how he wanted to be remembered, declaring, “When I die they’ll say, ‘he couldn’t play shit, but he sure made it sound good!’” His first full length recording in 1971 was also the first album on now world-famous Alligator Records, Hound Dog Taylor & The HouseRockers. In fact, label president Bruce Iglauer founded Alligator for the sole purpose of recording and releasing that album. Fifty years later, Hound Dog Taylor & The HouseRockersis considered a classic of the genre, and Alligator boasts a catalog of over 350 blues and roots rock releases.

Zoso - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience formed in 1995 to perform the most accurate and captivating Led Zeppelin live show since the real thing. For Zoso, it's much more than just being a tribute. It's about touching a golden era in music. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly-wound talent and authenticity.

Each band member has been carefully selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of their Led Zeppelin counterparts. In eighteen successful years of touring, they have perfected their art. As one of the longest tenured Zeppelin tributes, Zoso's 2400 live shows around the world, including slots at major festivals such as Bonnaroo and Rib America Fest, have established them as the most traveled and successful band in the market.

Zoso's live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created. It's in the way they play: Each band member's mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spot-on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. The impact is so powerful that band members constantly hear from young rockers that they were the catalyst behind turning them into new, die-hard Zeppelin fans.

Their passion, musical ability, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim, name recognition and a loyal national following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being "head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes," and the Chicago Sun-Times declared Zoso is "the closest to the original of any tribute."

If you missed Led Zeppelin live in the 70's or are looking to relive the "Hammer of the Gods" phenomenon, you must experience what the St. Petersburg Times calls "the most exacting of the Zeppelin tribute bands in existence."

Zoso is: Matt Jernigan-Robert Plant; John McDaniel-Jimmy Page; Adam Sandling-John Paul Jones; Bevan Davies-John Bonham

Magic Beans Bio:

Denver’s Magic Beans return April 30th, 2021 with their third studio album, Slice of Life, a 14 song documentation of a year spent away from the familiar confines of the road.

When the pandemic hit, Magic Beans had dozens of shows cancelled, so they hopped into their studio in Denver, CO and started recording songs. Produced by Magic Beans - and Mastered by David Glasser (The Grateful Dead’s long time Mastering engineer) - Funk, soul, live electronica, and even bluegrass music find their way into this songbook from 4 band members that each bring their own flavor to the project. The different feels in the double record coexist harmoniously as the listener is slowly ramped up throughout the record. By the time you hit the second vinyl, the organic sounds of B3 organ and acoustic guitar give way to synths and drum sampling almost as if you’re descending into night.

The inspiration for the title “Slice of Life” is just that. A random and unplanned snapshot of the band in this time and place, a self portrait done unknowingly. “Throughout our days as a traveling band, we’ve encountered many a situation that is unexplainably surreal in its abnormality, but at the same time indicative of the location, culture, and context we find ourselves. "A person partaking in an activity you didn’t know existed wearing an outfit you’ve only seen in a dream, or a collision of occurrences just rare and unusual enough that you think you’re living in a simulation just to be in that place, sounds of B3 organ and acoustic guitar give way to synths and drum sampling almost as if you’re descending into night.

The band’s rule was to have fun making music and the record reflects that. Even the home-made and hand-cut collages for the album artwork were created by the Beans' tour manager and collaborator, Austin Koontz. What you got here with “Slice of Life” is a good time and a reflection of Magic Beans love for creating art. As the world returns to some semblance of normal, and Magic Beans hop back onto the road these songs will feature prominently in the sets from night to night, but until then this album will serve as a small Slice of of the last year in the Life of Magic Beans.

Living Legend -- few within hip hop ever earn such a moniker, but with nearly 40 solo and collaborative releases, Los Angeles' MURS has truly run the gamut of independent success.

Early work with 3 Melancholy Gypsys and the iconic Living Legends paved the way for MURS' celebrated journey in the music industry. The West Coast representative would use this unparalleled crash-course in indie hip hop to establish his critically-acclaimed catalog of work, including MURS 3:16 The 9th Wonder Edition.

2008's release of Murs For President on Warner Bros. provided a new national spotlight. As the founder of the pivotal Paid Dues festival, MURS would continue to elevate his presence in the genre by amassing a list of collaborations that included Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, will.i.am, DJ Quik, E-40, and many others.

His signing with Tech N9ne's independent Strange Music label in 2014 yielded three full-length albums as well as several national tours. He further raised the stakes by breaking a Guinness World Record with a 24-hour live rap marathon on Twitch in 2016.

2019 saw MURS return to his roots, teaming with 9th Wonder for the highly-anticipated release of The Iliad Is Dead And The Odyssey Is Over.

Meanwhile, the summer of 2020 gave way to the triumphant return of Felt -- the duo comprised of Murs and Slug of Atmosphere, with the surprise release of their fourth album, Felt4U.

Murs closed out 2020 as only he could, partnering with DJ.Fresh for the release of Love & Rockets Vol 2: The Declaration. The full-length solo album stands as a personal testament to Murs' influence and legacy on West Coast music.

Operating independently of labels once again, MURS stands as a beacon of self-made success and unbridled respect for the craft in a new era.

Dirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues, swamptronica, and electro-twang.” It’s a sound informed by Dirtwire’s travels and performances around the globe, where East meets West and North joins South. From the favelas in Brazil, Femi Kuti’s Shrine in Lagos, Tokyo’s bluegrass clubs, Ayahuasca ceremonies in Central America, Gamelan performances in Bali, desert festivals in the Australian Outback, and the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s modernized new capital Astana, the band spreads its message by building bridges across musical cultures in their own unique way. Dirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern, including West African kamale ngonis, jaw harps, space fiddles, whamola basses, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. Hailing from the underground west coast electronic bass music scene Dirtwire finds itself at the forefront of experimental electronic music production mixing in their wide array of world instruments with sampled beats and 808’s. Dirtwire’s live shows are a communal psychedelic journey, which have been channeled into their latest full-length effort, Electric River.

Animas City Theatre Presents
El Ten Eleven
Tickets on sale Friday July 23rd at 10:00am at www.animascitytheatre.com

Experiencing an unexpected tragedy or loss often provokes a period of self-reflection, a time to contemplate one’s own place and purpose in the world. That was true for El Ten Eleven’s Kristian Dunn. When a beloved family member passed, Dunn found his own reflections on life emerging in the music he composed. Those expressions led to the creation of Tautology — a sonic meditation on the arc of human life, composed in three parts.

Over the course of three discs, Tautology is, in Dunn’s words, “a representation of life from the teenage years, through middle-age, until the end of life.” The sounds on the album echo Dunn’s own experiences, veering from aggressive metallic riffs to blissful ambient soundscapes. And while there are shared melodies and harmonies through all three records, each one has its own distinct qualities: Tautology I, which represents adolescence, is angsty, aggressive and occasionally depressive; Tautology II is head-noddy and mid-tempo, and represents middle age; while Tautology III, quiet and ambient, represents one’s golden years.

The music on the first disc, Tautology I, has a heavier sound that might surprise longtime El Ten Eleven fans. “I wanted to represent what my teenage years were like, when I was full of testosterone and depression,” says Dunn. “When you're a teenager everything feels so grandiose and dramatic.” The album’s second movement, Tautology II, reflects Dunn’s current state. “I'm middle-aged now, and this is the happiest I've ever been. I think that comes across in the music. This record is the one that sounds the most like the El Ten Eleven people are used to.” For the final chapter, Tautology III, Dunn composed a transcendent set of ethereal music inspired partly by the loss of a dear family member. “I don't know what it's like to be elderly. But my grandmother-in-law Frances McMaster was a very inspiring person. She died recently, and I was thinking about her a lot. She was really smart. She lived into her early nineties and she wrote her fourth book when she was eighty-eight. I'd like to be like her if I make it to that age.”

Tautology is not a typical rock album, and El Ten Eleven are not a typical rock band. For seventeen years the instrumental duo of Dunn (bass/guitar) and Tim Fogarty (drums) have flourished outside the accepted norms of rock orthodoxy, releasing eight full length albums and four EPs, and performing over 750 live shows. Utilizing inventive arrangements and a masterful use of looping, El Ten Eleven create a sound much bigger than the sum of its parts. Most first-timers to an El Ten Eleven show are stunned that the band is a duo. It’s a refreshing sight and a palette whose boundaries the band have explored for unexpected additions to their sound. Tautology finds Dunn and Fogarty pushing this sound
