Lorain & West Virginia Railway

Last year, some of the county historical societies began to celebrate the beginning of Lorain County.  December 26, 2022, marked the 200th anniversary of the day the Ohio Legislature formed Lorain County from parts of Cuyahoga, Medina, and Huron Counties. On May 24, 1824, the county officially began to operate.  We will be celebrating the Bicentennial on May 11.  Join us for a trip back in time on our 1950s era train.  Dress in your best vintage attire (not required, it just adds to the fun) and board the train at 1:30 PM for a 4.5 mile train ride through the rural countryside of southern Lorain County.  On display at the station will be a Bicentennial Traveling Exhibit.   “Lorain County: 200 Years” is a collaboration between the Lorain County Historical Society and the Lorain County Convention & Visitors Bureau and will be available to enjoy.
