    PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Originally from Maine, Marley began performing stand-up comedy in his hometown of Portland. He moved to Boston early in his career, gaining experience in a city known for spawning comedy all-stars. He now has a weekly radio call in segment with several radio stations around the country called “The World According to Bob.” Winner of this year’s XM/Sirius Super Bowl of Comedy, he continually makes new fans around the country.

After making his first television appearance on Comedy Central, he is now one of the few comics to do the complete late night circuit including The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Craig Kilborn. He has also appeared on 100 television shows, including VH1’s Super Secret Movie Rules, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, USO Comedy Tour and most recently, Bob’s own half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents Bob Marley.

Many movie fans will recognize him from his appearance in the cult favorite movie Boondock Saints and the highly anticipated sequel All Saints Day, released in 2009. Bob co-stars with Willem Dafoe, Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly, Julie Benz (Rita on Showtime’s Dexter), brat packer Judd Nelson, and film legend Peter Fonda. His comedic take on “Detective Greenly” inspires fans to constantly approach him and quote lines from the film. Marley brought back the always funny and incredibly wrong Detective Greenly in a much larger role in the second film.

Tickets range from $39.50-$49.50 plus applicable taxes and fees ($47.25-$58 total at the Box Office & $51.25-$62.50 total online).

    PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

    1h 53m / PG / Historical Drama

Daughters of the Dust tells the story of the Peazant family, a multigenerational and matriarchal group of women on the precipice of a life-changing decision. They are Gullah people, whose ancestors were brought as enslaved people to islands off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina and, in the isolation of the large island plantations and over hundreds of years, blended their languages and traditions to create a unique and enduring culture of their own. Set in 1902, the film shows the family as they each decide for themselves whether to stay on their island and practice the old ways or migrate to the mainland and embrace a more “modern” way of life.

With shifting, lush, dreamlike visuals and dialogue spoken in Gullah creole without subtitles, writer-director Julie Dash creates a filmic family album — half full of happy memories and half sharp reminders of what’s been lost. Shannon Kelley of the UCLA Film Library says it “eloquently frames […] the place of family and tradition in ameliorating historical wrongs, the hope of spiritual escape from a history of trauma, and the elusive possibility of finding deliverance together.” And perhaps most noteworthy of all, it was the first feature film directed by an African-American woman to be distributed theatrically in the United States.

It took until 1991 to break that barrier.

Guests are invited to stay after the screening for a discussion with University of Tampa film professor Taylor Curry and others to explore some of the themes presented in Daughters of the Dust and consider its impact on Black cinema.

    PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

A first-generation Italian-American born and raised in Westchester, New York, Anthony Rodia came out of the womb making people laugh. In his 20s he tried a few open mics, but ultimately took a different career path as a finance manager of a luxury car dealership. In 2019, Rodia returned to comedy and left his day job to become a full-time stand-up comic. He hit the ground running and performed 100 shows in just nine months, and within three years Anthony has gained a massive fan base online and around the country.

In a very short time, Anthony gained more than 900,000 social media followers and his YouTube videos have amassed more than 22 million views. Rodia’s comedy pulls from his real life and razor-sharp observations on marriage, parenthood, road rage and everything else worthy of a social media rant.

With the onset of quarantine, Anthony made the most of a captive audience, delivering a staggering 86 weekly videos. Road Rage Wednesday became a fan favorite, but his Uncle Vinny and Zia Lucia characters transformed into a phenomenon. They are the crazy uncle and aunt you love but can’t be out in public with, who speak their minds (whether you asked for it or not).

In 2021, Anthony launched Rodia Wines, which include a Zia Lucia’s White Blend and Uncle Vinny’s Red Blend that both pair perfectly with any of your favorite Italian dishes.

Rodia also host the weekly podcast, Little Bit of Laughs, on Podcast One. Get to know the comedian behind your favorite viral videos and stand-up comedy alongside his co-host and radio legend Goumba Johnny. Join Anthony and Goumba as they get into hot topics, rants, pranks and listener's questions and stories.

Anthony has appeared on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, FOX’s Good Day New York, and Elizabeth & Elisa on News 12, where he quietly claimed the throne of “King of Off the Boat Comedy.”

Tampa Theatre and Outback Presents are proud to announce that comedian Taylor Tomlinson will return to Tampa Theatre (where she sold out her 2021 show) for a stop on her The Have it All Tour.

The New York Times opines, comedian Taylor Tomlinson “demonstrates tight joke writing, carefully honed act-outs and a ruthless appetite for laughs” in her second hour-long special, Look At You, now streaming on Netflix. New York Magazine adds, “Watching Tomlinson gives you the same comfort as a Swift concert or a Broadway show that’s been on for years. This is a professional. This performance will be ultra-produced. You do not need to be anxious,” and the Los Angeles Times observes, “Even when she’s navigating painful waters, she can’t help but find the humor… her wit and pinpoint delivery reveal both an incisive writer and also a talented actor.”

Tickets range from $29.75-$69.75 plus applicable taxes and fees ($36.75-$79.75 total at the Box Office & $40.25-$85 total online)

Tampa Theatre and Outback Presents are proud to announce that Leanne Morgan will make Tampa Theatre’s historic stage a stop on her Just Getting Started tour on Jan 20, 2024.

The tour’s name was inspired by Leanne’s career which started serendipitously 22 years ago when the mother of three realized her calling was in making people laugh.  At midlife, Leanne is truly just getting started and hopes that she can inspire others to feel the same. It’s never too late to start something that you love!

The comedian’s unique brand of comedy is grounded in her relatability and her no holds barred descriptions of motherhood (i.e.; What to do when puberty turns your children into monsters), dieting (i.e.; When it’s almost summer and you don’t have a bikini body), and marriage (i.e.; Two things that make a man happy), etc. all delivered with her sweet Southern charm.

Tickets range from $45.75-$109.75 plus applicable taxes and fees ($54-$122.75 total at the Box Office & $58.25-$129.75 total online).

Built in 1926, the Tampa Theatre is one of America’s most elaborate movie palaces and a beloved community landmark.

Visitors to the Theatre enjoy world-class entertainment under a realistic night sky with twinkling stars, in a romantic Mediterranean courtyard replete with old-world statues, flowers, and gargoyles.

Today, the Theatre is managed by the not-for-profit Tampa Theatre Foundation. As one of the most heavily utilized venues of its kind in the United States, Tampa Theatre’s single auditorium hosts more than 600 events each year, including a full schedule of first-run and classic films, concerts, special events, corporate events, tours and educational programs.
