Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been called contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known venues. Known for performances that convey deep emotion, Vega’s distinctive, “clear, unwavering voice” (Rolling Stone) has been described as “a cool, dry sandpaper-brushed near-whisper” by The Washington Post, with NPR Music noting that she “has been making vital, inventive music” throughout the course of her decades-long career.

Bearing the stamp of a masterful storyteller who “observes the world with a clinically poetic eye” (The New York Times), Vega’s songs have tended to focus on city life, ordinary people and real-world subjects. Notably succinct and understated, her work is immediately recognizable—as utterly distinct and thoughtful as it was when her voice was first heard on the radio over 30 years ago.

The trio—Bekah, Joshua, and Caleb Liechty—notably made history as “the only group to ever win NBC’s The Voice.” Along the way, they’ve impressively generated millions of streams across chart-rattling covers such as “River,” “The Chain,” and “Dust in the Wind.” The proud Midwesterners gained further traction with the independent Another World EP.

Returning to the road with a bang, they performed 100-plus shows throughout 2022 alone. Safe Haven Ballet will grace the Nashua Performing Arts Center stage with its production of Beauty & The Beast, for one spellbinding performance only. This production features choreography from Columbia City Ballet’s Director, William Starrett and music composed by Thomas Semanski. The performance will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 4:30pm. A love story perfect for all ages, Beauty & The Beast is a captivating fairytale that blends magic with artistry. The Beasts’ character is created to come off artistically elegant with a touch of menace, and Belle from the original fairytale leads this dramatic performance emerging as the merchant’s daughter chosen by the Beast to be his bride. The dancers of Safe Haven Ballet couple beautiful lines and riveting stage presence to tell a beautiful tale where love conquers all. Choreographer William Starrett says, “My goal has always been to allow the audience to discover the art of ballet and love it as much as I do," he said. "To see how amazing the ballet is."

This classic story mixed with despair, travail, patience and glory is fitting for the whole family. 

Safe Haven Ballet is a non profit 501(c)(3) professional ballet company, and school that creates uplifting ballet performances as well as offers free trauma sensitive ballet, movement and arts classes for survivors of sexual violence and trauma.

Symphony NH marks the anniversary of its very first concert TO THE DAY with a centennial gala celebration at Nashua Center for the Arts. Join us for a concert featuring acclaimed cellist Amit Peled, who performed Dvořák’s Cello Concerto with SNH in 2001, followed by two works played on Symphony NH’s very first concert on April 29, 1923: a movement from Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony – and Strauss’s On the Beautiful Blue Danube, a piece that has stood the test of time.

Scaggs launched his solo career with 1968's seminal Boz Scaggs LP, recorded in Muscle Shoals, AL for Atlantic Records. Scaggs continued to mine a personalized mix of rock, blues and R&B influences, along with a signature style of ballads on such influential '70s albums as Moments, Boz Scaggs & Band, My Time, Slow Dancer and 1976’s Silk Degrees. The latter release became a massive commercial breakthrough, reaching Number Two and remaining on the album charts for 115 weeks.  It spawned three Top 40 hit singles: "It's Over," "Lido Shuffle" and the Grammy-winning "Lowdown."  Subsequently, "We're All Alone” from that same album, would become a #1 single for Rita Coolidge.  Silk Degrees was followed by the albums Down Two Then Left and Middle Man, and such hit singles as "Breakdown Dead Ahead," "Jo Jo" and "Look What You've Done to Me."

Chart topping songs like “Fadeaway,” “Only Love,” and “Dreams” won them Rolling Stone's readers poll for “Best New American Band” in 1987, and they were part of a small contingent of bands that inspired a new radio format known as Adult Alternative, Album Rock-Triple A. Their reputation for delivering a dynamic live show garnered support slots with U2, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Tom Petty, George Thorogood, The Pretenders, David Bowie, and Chris Isaak. They’ve shared the stage with Los Lobos, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Joan Osborne, Train, The WallFlowers, Cheap Trick, Robbie Robertson, Daniel Lanois, and many others.

The BoDeans signed their First recording contract with Slash/Warner Brothers Records in 1985 and their First record, “Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams” was released May, 1986. In the 36 years that followed, BoDeans have released 13 studio albums with ten records that hit the Billboard Top 200 Chart, and numerous singles on the Mainstream Rock, Top 40 and Triple A radio charts. Bodeans 14th studio album, ‘4 the Last Time’ will be released this June and the band intends to tour extensively in support of its release.

BoDeans songs have been used in various television shows including “Party of Five,” ABC News, NBC Monday Night Football, “The Simpsons,” “Northern Exposure,” Dawson’s Creek” and many others. FOX used the song “Closer To Free” as the opening theme of their hit TV show, “Party of Five,” which became the band’s biggest hit, peaking at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Their songs have been in movies such as “The Color of Money,” “The Player,” “Opportunity Knocks,” Heavyweights” and many others.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

‘Celebrating Billy Joel – America’s Piano Man’ is returning to pay tribute to the songs and style of Billy Joel. This year they mark the 50th Anniversary of the iconic album ‘Piano Man’ with a show that spotlights songs from the classic 1973 record, as well as hits from the full length and breadth of Billy Joel’s extensive catalogue.  

This band of talented multi-instrumentalists evoke the energy and verve of Joel’s iconic live performances and pay homage to his virtuosity and craft.  Expect to hear international smash hit songs such as ‘Just The Way You Are’, ‘Uptown Girl’, ‘Vienna’, ‘New York State of Mind’ and of course the timeless ‘Piano Man’ amongst many, many more.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

Pat Metheny is launching a new playing environment called “Side-Eye” for this upcoming season.

Pat explains “I wanted to create an ongoing setting to feature a rotating cast of new and upcoming musicians who have particularly caught my interest along the way.” Pat continues “From my earliest days in Kansas City onward, I was the beneficiary of so many older musicians giving me a platform to develop my thing through the prism of their experience and the particular demands of what their music implied. I have been feeling like I wanted to have a specific platform to focus on some of the many younger musicians I have enjoyed recently who I have felt some kind of a kinship with.”

“I hear regularly from new players on the scene who have professed an influence from my records and tunes and I often invite them up to my house to play. Very often, it is really natural and organic to the music to play with them, they have literally grown up with it. I find myself inspired by how they deal with the musical challenges that come with the territory of some of those older tunes, and at the same time I find myself intrigued with the possibilities of what might be possible in writing new music just for them. This band setting is what that will be all about.”

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

An unequivocal musical prodigy, singer-saxophonist-songwriter-composer and band leader Grace Kelly has rocked the jazz world with sold-out concerts, 13 acclaimed albums and a resume that includes performing at the Hollywood Bowl and as part of the house band for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” – all before reaching her mid-twenties.

A limited number of VIP Meet & Greets will be available for this performance. VIP Meet & Greet includes:
- Early admission to the venue at 6:30pm (7:00pm doors / 8:00pm show)
- Patrons will sit in their assigned seats and will watch an intimate performance from Grace Kelly
- Patrons will attend a brief Q&A and photo op
- Patrons will receive 1 signed poster
