The house band is a handpicked group of Northern Colorado's best musicians who will be accompanied by three unique Fort Collins songwriters and youth musicians from The Matthews House and School of Rock Fort Collins.

The Uplift: FoCo house band includes:
Eric Thorin on bass (Bonnie Paine, Darol Anger, Matt Flinner, more)
Joe Lessard on fiddle (Head For The Hills, Whiskey Blanket)
& more!

The evening will include a Silent Auction featuring items based in Northern Colorado and will be heavily focused on local art. Plus there will be a live painter, limited edition merchandise, and prize giveaways.

The Matthews House music program provides underserved and at-risk youth access to music lessons, music production classes, instruments, rehearsal space, and recording opportunities, plus has been approved for high school credit. The focus is to give students a creative outlet, healthy coping mechanisms, and an opportunity to have their voice be heard. Youth from the music program will work alongside technical staff and perform in collaboration with the Fort Collins School of Rock House Band. This creates an exciting goal for students to work towards and an opportunity to showcase their achievements to the community.

Grassroots Blues. Wistful Soul. Boot Stomping Bass.

Nestled deep in the beautiful Kootenay mountains of Western Canada lies the home of Moontricks, a duo whose timeless sound captures the essence of their rugged roots. Combining their love of folk, blues, and electronic music, Nathan Gurley and Sean Rodman are blazing their own trail, merging musical worlds previously unacquainted and capturing audiences along the way.

Since connecting in their rural hometown through a shared love of music, the pair’s chemistry was instantly apparent. With Gurley at the production helm and Rodman on songwriting and vocals, they’ve birthed an authentically raw and seductive sound infusing grassroots blues, wistful soul, and gritty, bootstomping bass. Their breakout organic hit “Home” has surpassed 1 million streams and their music is frequently licensed for film and television.

Once a bestkept secret in Canada's festival circuit, Moontricks is now taking their sound worldwide. Feeling just as at home on an electronic festival stage one weekend and a folk festival the next, their spirited live performances feature an assemblage of guitar, keys, banjo, and vocals atop stunning original productions. Their touring schedule has seen them play across North America and Australia with stops at major festivals like Lightning In A Bottle, Rainbow Serpent, and Shambhala Music Festival where they’ve become fan favourites, playing every year since their debut in 2013.

Experiencing an unexpected tragedy or loss often provokes a period of self-reflection, a time to contemplate one’s own place and purpose in the world. That was true for El Ten Eleven’s Kristian Dunn. When a beloved family member passed, Dunn found his own reflections on life emerging in the music he composed. Those expressions led to the creation of Tautology — a sonic meditation on the arc of human life, composed in three parts.

Over the course of three discs, Tautology is, in Dunn’s words, “a representation of life from the teenage years, through middle-age, until the end of life.” The sounds on the album echo Dunn’s own experiences, veering from aggressive metallic riffs to blissful ambient soundscapes. And while there are shared melodies and harmonies through all three records, each one has its own distinct qualities: Tautology I, which represents adolescence, is angsty, aggressive and occasionally depressive; Tautology II is head-noddy and mid-tempo, and represents middle age; while Tautology III, quiet and ambient, represents one’s golden years.

TX2
Rising out of the shadows of a small town known for music, Fort Collins; TX2 brings an unmatchable intensity in his music through the form of powerful raw lyrics and explosive performances. After building a loyal hometown fanbase, TX2 eventually moved to Miami, Florida, to pursue his dreams and start a hip hop program at the University of Miami. After struggling for so many years as an artist, TX2 used his pain as fuel and finally found his sound with his latest release 'Pull The Plug'. TX2 has since begun a movement among his fans known as the "X Movement". TX2 aims to bring true punk attitude back into the mainstream music genre.

TX2's newest release "Pull The Plug" was written alongside his mentor Joey Barba. This song is about TX2's struggle with mental health- as he portrays himself as a happy cheerful character, but deep down is fighting his own inner demons. On the surface, someone can seem put together, but you never know when that person is one stitch away from falling apart.

Write Minded
Based out of Fort Collins, CO, Write Minded is a fresh and tasteful addition to the Colorado music scene. A unique mixture of hip hop, rock, reggae, funk, and soul, Write Minded pushes the confining boundaries of genre to bring you something new.

"You don't get music like this anywhere else, could Fort Collins be where a new genre begins?" - Rooster Magazine

A little house, a little blues, a little funk, a little rock, and a whole lot of soul blast through BoomBox.

Since first emerging in 2004, founder, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Zion Rock Godchaux has been quietly seasoning and simmering this recipe to perfection. At the same time, the Muscle Shoals, AL native stays true to what attracted countless fans in the first place.

“You hear about different forms of magic around the world,” he goes on. “The West, in general, has its own voodoo influenced by the blues. That’s what shaped me as a musician growing up in this country. It’s hard to put in the words, but you know it when you hear it.”

You hear it in everything that BoomBox has done thus far. Over the course of five albums, the group has become a streaming favorite with numerous tracks clocking in the millions of plays on Spotify. Moreover, they’ve made audiences groove everywhere from Electric Forest and Hangout Music Festival to High Sierra Music Festival and Red Rocks.

In the spring of 2019 Zion enlisted his “brother from the same mother” Kinsman MacKay to embark on BoomBox’s most exciting configuration to date. “There’s a special kind of chemistry between two brothers playing music together,” Zion explains. “Since 2003 we’d get together and make tracks just for fun, and realized we had a strong connection in the studio.” The two always knew they would work on a project together someday, and when the doors opened up logistically in 2019, it was the natural move for the brothers to take form as BoomBox.

BoomBox debuted their live horn section called “The BackBeat Brass” in the fall of 2019 to great reception. “It’s like these songs are my children that I’ve been raising for the past 15 years, and with the addition of the horns it feels like seeing them again for the very first time” says Godchaux. The Backbeat Brass, led by trumpet artist Nic Chaffee of Delta Nove, will be featured on select shows, bringing a classic live horn sound filtered through an array of psychedelic sounds and elements.

Head for the Hills--Adam Kinghorn, Joe Lessard, Matt Loewen--come out swinging and invigorated with fresh sounds on their latest EP, Say Your Mind (out March 22). Recorded at Swingfingers Studios in Fort Collins (Colorado), the band brought a larger band than ever before, including drummer Darren Garvey of Elephant Revival, Vocalist Kim Dawson, Dobroist Todd Livingston, a horn section and more. The material reflects both the turbulent social rhythms of our current era and more timeless moments of joy, growth, and change—think #MeToo, the current body politic, and inequality, but also relationships, fatherhood and growing up.

Like a painter that starts in acrylic and graduates to oils, Head for the Hills is deeper and richer in their 15th year as a band, with a wider palette of sonic textures at their disposal.  Dorm room jam sessions have turned into a decade plus on the road--from humble coffee shops to theaters, festivals, roadhouses and clubs all across the country. Over time those sounds and influences have crept more and more into the bluegrass beginnings of the band, morphing into the seasoned eclecticism of Say Your Mind. The new songs are quinnessential Head for the Hills; genre-stradling, lyrically deep, and danceable, with a crew of collaborators bringing the best of Colorado acoustic, roots, and soul music together.

Aggie Theatre Presents
Chris Knight
w/ Special Guests

“It’s hard to know how people are gonna react,” Chris Knight says of Almost Daylight, his ninth album and first new recording in over seven years. “I’ve written songs about a lot of different things going all the way back to my first record, and some folks still think ‘somebody kills somebody’ is all I write about. Maybe that’s why I was bound and determined to get these particular songs on this album. If people like them, then we’ll be fine. But I wasn’t gonna do it any other way.”

For the past 20 years, Chris Knight has only made music his own way. He’s released eight acclaimed albums, played thousands of electrifying live shows and built generations of fervent fans from Texas honky-tonks to Manhattan rock clubs. He’s been hailed as “the last of a dying breed...a taciturn loner with an acoustic guitar and a college degree” (The New York Times) and “a storyteller in the best traditions of Mellencamp and Springsteen” (USA Today). Bottom line, he’s hard-earned his reputation as one of America’s most uncompromising and respected singer/songwriters. And now with Almost Daylight, Knight delivers the most powerful – and unexpected – music of his career.

Almost Daylight is very much a Chris Knight album, familiarly featuring vivid pictures of rural characters, desperate men and hardscrabble survivors. At the same time it’s unlike anything Knight has done before, with formidable testaments to compassion, redemption and even straight-up love. It’s an album both tough and tender, as bare-knuckled as it is open-hearted. “I do think there’s a cohesiveness to this album,” Knight explains in his thick Kentucky rasp.“The title is key, I suppose. Through all these songs, you could find a theme about seeking shelter.”

Produced, mixed and mastered by Grammy-winner Ray Kennedy – best-known for his 30+ year creative partnership with Steve Earle as well as producing Chris’ Enough Rope (2006),Trailer II (2009) and Little Victories (2012) albums – Almost Daylight also sounds like no other Knight record, with scorching guitars by Georgia Satellites founder and two-time Knight album producer Dan Baird, rich background vocals by Chris Clark, Siobhan Kennedy and Lee Ann Womack, and deeper instrumentation than ever before. “Chris had been playing some of these songs on the road and started developing ideas before we got to the studio,” Kennedy says. “He and I talked about keeping the Appalachian factor with banjo, fiddle, harmonica and mandolin where it felt right. It was significant that Dan was involved, as he’s the man who can play guitar with the right feeling for Chris. The background vocals really brought the fire, and this lead to ideas for piano, Hammond B-3, accordion and Wurlitzer electric piano. Everything evolved from the performance of each song and I let the songs dictate what they needed in order to evolve into an album.”

“Jerry Dance Party is a chance for music lovers to experience the mind-bending marriage of cutting-edge audio-visual technology with the timeless music of the Grateful Dead.”
-concert promoter and Relix publisher Peter Shapiro

From its inception, The Jerry Dance Party has brought together the best of Jerry Garcia live catalog, from his extensive and wide ranging career with the Grateful Dead to his work with Old & In The Way, Jerry Garcia Band, Merl Saunders, John Kahn, New Riders of the Purple Sage and many more.

“We’re bringing Garcia’s entire career to the dance floor, for three-plus hours of the most ripping, psychedelic live tracks,” says DJ JerrBrother. “Undoubtedly, at every Jerry Dance Party, people come up to me and ask, ‘What show was that from?’ ‘What year is this song from?’.. I’ve combed through hours of live Garcia tracks to find the best of the best. We leave people with a renewed sense of exploration and love for the guy who brought it every night, Garcia.”

As NPR writes, “siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are not your typical pair.” Clyde Lawrence and Gracie Lawrence have been writing songs and listening to countless Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and Aretha Franklin records in their family’s New York City apartment since they were little kids. After years of playing together, they officially created Lawrence, an eight-piece soul-pop band comprised of musician friends from childhood and college. The band has since gained a devoted following for its high-energy, keyboard-driven sound, which features tight, energetic horns, explosive lead vocals, and fully-live arrangements.

In June 2019, Lawrence became the first band to sign with Beautiful Mind Records, the label of Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/artist Jon Bellion, and within a few months embarked as support on Bellion’s Summer 2019 Glory Sound Prep Tour. Lawrence has since released the Bellion-produced singles “Casualty” (performed live on NBC’s Today Show), “It’s Not All About You,” “The Weather,” “Freckles,” and “Don’t Lose Sight,” which have garnered tens of millions of streams across all platforms and have had multiple viral moments on Tik Tok and Instagram. The singles are a part of the band’s new album, Hotel TV, which is out now and will be performed on their 2021 Fall headline tour.

Lady Denim officially surfaced in January of 2019 while attending Colorado State University. Just a few weeks into that same year, they released "Pipe Dream" which would be the first track off of their debut EP, “For Edgy Girls, Like Ramona”.

Early on, they performed their limited discography at dive bars and crammed college basements, garnering a cult-like fanbase along the way. They quickly transitioned to headlining prominent venues around Colorado and supporting national acts, such as Saint Motel, The Unlikely Candidates, Generationals, Spin Doctors & more!

The 4-piece is currently based out of Fort Collins, CO consisting of members Nick Lundeen (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Nic Lubin (Lead Guitar), Chris Lubin (Bass), and Matthias Mandl (Drums). The band pulls elements of 80's pop and Indie Rock together to create an upbeat unison. Their fanbase continues to remain dedicated to the energy and positivity that the band provides. Their sophomore EP, "loosely held hands” is out on 9/10 :)

"Lady Denim is the Colorado band you probably don’t know yet – but should." - 303Magazine

“Bright, energetic, and bursting with youthful pop polish. That’s been the name of the game for Fort Collins indie rockers and it’s paying off” - Bandwagon Magazine

Dirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues, swamptronica, and electro-twang.” It’s a sound informed by Dirtwire’s travels and performances around the globe, where East meets West and North joins South. From the favelas in Brazil, Femi Kuti’s Shrine in Lagos, Tokyo’s bluegrass clubs, Ayahuasca ceremonies in Central America, Gamelan performances in Bali, desert festivals in the Australian Outback, and the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s modernized new capital Astana, the band spreads its message by building bridges across musical cultures in their own unique way. Dirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern, including West African kamale ngonis, jaw harps, space fiddles, whamola basses, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. Hailing from the underground west coast electronic bass music scene Dirtwire finds itself at the forefront of experimental electronic music production mixing in their wide array of world instruments with sampled beats and 808’s. Dirtwire’s live shows are a communal psychedelic journey, which have been channeled into their latest full-length effort, Electric River.

In the near-decade they’ve been together, Kitchen Dwellers have performed for thousands at Red Rocks, shared bills with the likes of Railroad Earth, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Twiddle, and graced festival stages everywhere from WinterWonderGrass to Northwest String Summit with their intoxicating blend of bluegrass wizardry and rock and roll energy.

The Montana four-piece’s spectacular new album, Muir Maid, is their most daring and collaborative work yet, an eclectic marriage of past and present fueled by virtuosic instrumental work, airtight vocal harmonies, and transportive storytelling. The Chris Pandolfi-produced record follows the band’s acclaimed 2017 LP, ‘Ghost In The Bottle,’ which was helmed by Leftover Salmon’s Andy Thorn and featured a slew of special guests, including Little Feat’s Bill Payne and Greensky Bluegrass’s Anders Beck.

How Do You Love?, the sophomore LP from L.A. power-pop outfit The Regrettes, is a an album about the most universal of emotions: love. Throughout the record, 18-year-old frontwoman Lydia Night details the rise and fall of a relationship—from that first rush of butterflies, through a destructive break-up, to ultimately finding peace and closure.

The album arrives on the heels of a few explosive years for The Regrettes. In 2018, the band— currently rounded out by members Genessa Gariano (22, guitar), Brooke Dickson (24, bass) and Drew Thomsen (22, drums)—released their critically acclaimed Attention Seeker EP, as well the passionate standalone anti-Kavanaugh anthem “Poor Boy,” which ELLE deemed “a feminist call to arms.” The group also dominated the year’s top summer festivals, from Coachella to Reading + Leeds, landing on the covers of LA Times and LA Weekly and earning praise from the likes of Rolling StoneBillboardUSA TodayVariety, and The Guardian. Together, the group has graced the stages of CONAN and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, toured extensively across North America and Europe, and garnered widespread acclaim from NPRVogue, Entertainment WeeklyConsequence of Sound, and many more since the 2017 release of their breakthrough debut album, Feel Your Feelings, Fool!

Taking that momentum in stride, The Regrettes are excited to move into their next era. Night, who wrote the vast majority of lyrics on How Do You Love?, came up with the idea after writing a group of songs about her experiences in various real-life relationships. From there, she says, she “realized that they all fit together and tell a story.”

This story begins with a spoken-word poem, as Night diagnoses the listener as being “infected” with a “love disease.” From there, the album is off to the races: the first song is the recently released standout “California Friends,” a danceable track about the excitement—and the nerves—that come with meeting someone new. “[It’s about] not knowing your feelings towards that person, really,” Night says, “but your gut is telling you that you like them, or love them, but you just know that it’s not what’s easiest [for you].”

A little less than halfway through the record, with the sauntering “Stop and Go,” Night pumps the breaks a bit: “Stop before we lose control,” she sings, “Let’s take a breath before we go, go, go.” She explains that the song is about realizing that her new relationship isn’t perfect: “A lot of times,” she says, “at the beginning of a relationship, there’s just nothing wrong. But then the problems start popping up. [You discover] there’s a lot you don’t like about the person—a lot of [qualities] you don’t think you can be with.”

STRFKR
w/ The Undercover Dream Lovers, Das Kope

Being No One, Going Nowhere. The title of STRFKR’s fourth album may seem bleak at first. But hold it in your head a minute, feel its weight, and you may recognize the phrase for what it is: a goal. In the era of the personal brand — amid the FOMO Age — it’s increasingly hard to shed a stifling sense of self, or to just be in the moment that you’re in. Well, consider this an invitation to get blissfully insignificant. That’s what STRFKR founder Joshua Hodges aimed to do when he exiled himself to the desert to create this record, but he returned with his most significant work yet: a set of darkly glistening dance songs rife with sticky beats, earworming hooks, philosophical heft, and bittersweet beauty.

The album opens on “Tape Machine,” and the difference is readily apparent. On 2013’s Miracle Mile, STRFKR refined a full-band sound, but this doubles down on and completely reimagines the project’s electronic and pop roots. The initial synths could fuel a rave, and the ensuing groove could score a Drive sequel, but the song is richer still, with cosmic effects flying overhead and a psych-folk earthiness below. It isn’t that the band sat this LP out — drummer (etc.) Keil Corcoran penned the thick astral disco of “In the End,” and he and bassist (etc.) Shawn Glassford both pitch in throughout. But Being No One, Going Nowhere was born in Joshua Tree after Hodges packed up his Los Angeles apartment and moved to that tiny Mojave outpost under the great big sky. “It came together for me in the desert,” he says. “Out there, it’s easy to feel small and slow.”

When Hodges started STRFKR in 2007, it was designed to be success-proof. The name was both unfit for radio and a jab at fame-chasers. But the project was also meant to be bright, playful and brimming with energy. He stumbled upon a winning juxtaposition that’s a STRFKR staple to this day: dark (or heavy) lyrics set to happy music. Hodges credits that to Elliott Smith’s influence, although Being No One, Going Nowhere has closer sonic kin in Italo-disco, kosmische musik and Tony Hoffer’s work with Phoenix, Beck and M83. English thinker/writer Alan Watts, a scholar of Eastern philosophy, was another muse for Hodges — his voice appears on nearly every STRFKR release, including this one. That’s him on “interspace,” talking about sloughing off preconceived identity to find one’s place in the universe, which is the story of Hodges’ eventual career: stop trying — no, start not trying — and succeed.

Jimkata

Four years after going on hiatus, Jimkata is back with a renewed sense of purpose and an extraordinary new album. Recorded in Syracuse with producer Jason Randall, Bonfires finds the trio digging deep and stretching their boundaries with bold, intoxicating arrangements fueled by swirling synthesizers and anthemic hooks. The songs here are at once modern and classic, blurring the lines between the organic and the electronic as they reckon with doubt, struggle, and perseverance in a search for truth and meaning. Like much of Jimkata’s catalog, Bonfires delivers transcendence in tight, dancefloor-ready packages, but there’s a sense of freedom at play that pushes the trio’s performances to new emotional heights, a kind of liberation that can only come from learning to let go of expectation and embrace the moment.

“I think the time away brought us all more maturity, more patience, an ability to see the bigger picture,” says singer/guitarist Evan Friedell. “We all gained a lot of perspective on life and the value of being in a band together.”

Indeed, the heart and soul of Jimkata has always been the enduring bonds between Friedell and his longtime bandmates, guitarist/keyboardist Aaron Gorsch and drummer Packy Lunn. Pals since middle school, the three launched Jimkata in 2005 while attending Ithaca College, where they quickly found an audience for their relentlessly feel-good performances, which grew from local house parties to club, theater, and festival dates on the strength of a series of critically acclaimed albums. Popdose hailed the band’s “bubbly sweetness,” while American Songwriter praised their “organic chemistry,” and Relix raved that the trio’s sound “proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.”
