    Bruce Iglauer founded Chicago-based Alligator Records at the age of 23. He built the company into the largest contemporary blues label in the world, becoming the Grammy-winning producer of blues giants Koko Taylor, Son Seals, Hound Dog Taylor, Johnny Winter, Billy Boy Arnold, Lonnie Brooks, Fenton Robinson and dozens of others. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1997. He is also a founder of the Chicago Blues Festival and co-author of Bitten by the Blues. Bruce—the man who wants his headstone to read “The Blues’ Best Roadie”—takes us on a journey through the business of the blues and shares stories of the extraordinary and larger-than-life blues greats he produced and toured with and with whom, in many cases, he became personal friends.

    Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling
    Set in the early 1980’s, Steel Magnolias is both a comedy and a drama as it recounts the real life story of a woman (based on Harling’s sister) who is a Type 1 diabetic and risks everything to give birth to her own child. The action takes place in Chinquapin, Louisiana at Truvy’s beauty salon where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. The “regulars” share the message that women have an inner strength that is evident during good times as well as bad times.

    To celebrate Chamber Music on the Fox's 10th Anniversary season, 3rd Coast Brass will be paying tribute to the legacy of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble.  Conducted by brass legend Mark Fisher, the program includes the Elgar Howarth arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition as well as Gunther Schuller’s Symphony for Brass and Percussion.  This epic assemblage of eighteen of the finest brass and percussion musicians in the Chicago area is a concert not to be missed!

    The Martin Metzger Flamenco Ensemble consists of some of the most experienced, talented and dedicated flamenco musicians in Chicago. All the of the members have studied the art in depth, traveling to Spain regularly, in order to capture the art’s energy, nuances and spirit. The ensemble consists of Marisela Tapia (dance), Patricia Ortega (voice), Diego Alonso (guitar), Martin Metzger (guitar), and Javier Saume (cajon). The respect for flamenco and desire to preserve its authenticity, is at the core of the ensemble’s vibrant and moving performances. The ensemble currently performs throughout the Chicagoland area, inspiring audiences of all kinds. Some of the venues that the ensemble has performed at include the Cervantes Institute, the Old Town School of Folk Music, Uncommon Ground, National Museum of Mexican Art, Millennium Park, and many outdoor festivals, art galleries and private events.
