Grupo Aldaco from Lansing, MI, originated in the early 1960's by founder Juve Aldaco. In the early years the group was known as Los Rayos Del Norte, a group which consisted of the traditional three line button Accordion, Bajo Sexto (12 string guitar), Bass and Drums, producing a style of music known as "Conjunto". As the mid/late 70's came, Juves three sons, Ernesto, Juve Jr and Daniel would eventually join the group and change the style of music to "Tejano", a blend of Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Rhythm/Blues and pop along with the traditional Mexican style.

Grupo Viento is a Tejano band based out of Grand Rapids composed of two brothers, Roy Valdez Sr. (vocals) and Ray Valdez Sr. (drums). They are joined by longtime member Leo Mendoza III on guitar and bass. Grupo Viento is in their 35th year and they have been blessed to share the stage with some of the best in the Tejano music industry throughout the Midwest and Texas. Thank you to all and especially the good Lord, we will see you on the dance floor.

You've never heard violin like this! The world's premier visionary violinist, Dixon's life mission is to inspire people - and he has done so across North America, including giving three TED talks/performances, over ten years at Burning Man, plus radio, TV, and film appearances.

A former technology leader and symphony violinist, Dixon walked away from a distinguished career to follow his dream full-time, and invented a whole new music genre. Dixon now improvises on a 5-string electric violin with a looping system he developed to create an all-live one-man symphony, guided by his remarkable personal story of life transformation.

May Erlewine has split her heart wide open and hasn't hidden any of the contents from view. One of the Midwest's most prolific and passionate songwriters, Erlewine has a gift for writing songs of substance that feel both fresh and soulfully familiar. Her ability to emotionally engage with an audience has earned her a dedicated following far beyond her Michigan roots. She shows us her heartbreak, but she also shows us her empowered and emboldened spirit. In her quest to find her most authentic self, Erlewine gifts each listener with a powerful, emotional experience that immediately connects us.

Raised in a home full of art and music, Erlewine began writing songs at a very young age. As a teenager she hitchhiked across the country, honing her skills as a performer and absorbing the kind of stories and landscapes that would inform her music. Her songs show a very real connection and concern with everyday folk. In the following years, Erlewine would perform in every kind of venue imaginable, from street corners to festival stages to the live airwaves of A Prairie Home Companion.

It's hard to imagine a band just coming into their own after 20 years of success, but that's exactly what makes a true anomaly. This multi-national, Celtic juggernaut grows stronger with each live performance, and as you can imagine, after two decades and over 2000 shows, it is a true force to be reckoned with. With their latest release, Go Climb a Tree, their music has never sounded more representative of themselves as musicians and as live performers.

The band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience, and it's a well-diversified crowd for sure. The country-music folks adore the storytelling, the bluegrass-heads love the instrumentals, Celtic fans love their devotion to tradition, and the rockers simply relish the passion they play their instruments with. Each band member, in their own way, expresses a deep gratitude for their fans, but it's best summed up in the words of Patrick Murphy: "The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We're here for them."

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
2020 Bell's Beer Garden Summer Concert Series

Led by singer Brooks Nielsen and music director/guitarist Matt Taylor, The Growlers have forged their own twisted path on the global music scene since their founding in 2006 in Dana Point, California. They're the party band that grew into a traveling circus, spawning their own annual event (Beach Goth) and growing an international fanbase, while releasing six studio records that trace a line from garage psych ballads to edgy radio pop.

On their first three records - Are You In Or Out? (2009), Hot Tropics (2010), and Hung at Heart (2013) - The Growlers combined reverb-rich waves of vintage surf rock with the dark, slow-burn melancholy of outlaw country. Chinese Fountain (2014) introduced a new, disco-infused direction that saw them move away from their swampy roots and relocate to Los Angeles. The band teamed up with producer Julian Casablancas (and frontman of The Strokes) to make City Club (2016), infusing their sound with Casablancas' angular melodies and speaker-popping mixes. 2018 brought Casual Acquaintances, a raw collection of City Club-era demos and outtakes that - even as b-sides - ranks with the band's finest material.

Between records they toured constantly, raising their status as icons of the Los Angeles music underground, capable of drawing arena-sized crowds for their hometown shows. On their latest, self-produced record Natural Affair (2019), The Growlers move their DIY aesthetic into an even sturdier, synthier, dancier sound, bolstered by Nielsen's finest lyrics to date: social commentary, rhymes, and ruminations on the pleasures (and perils) of modern love.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
"I want it to bring comfort," The Lone Bellow guitarist Brian Elmquist says. "But it's not all hard conversations. There's a lot of light and some dancing that needs to happen." Brian is reflecting on Half Moon Light, the band's highly anticipated new album.

Half Moon Light is an artistic triumph worked toward for years, earned not by individual posturing, but by collective determination and natural growth. With earthy three-part harmonies and songwriting as provocative as it is honest, the trio made up of Brian, lead vocalist Zach Williams, and multi-instrumentalist Kanene Donehey Pipkin creates sparks that make a stranger's life matter or bring our sense of childlike wonder roaring back. On Half Moon Light, The Lone Bellow mix light and dark to muster a complex ode to memory, a call for hope, and an exercise in empathy. Anchored in the acoustic storytelling that first so endeared the band to fans and critics, Half Moon Light also takes more chances, experimenting with textures and instrumental fillips to create a full-bodied music experience. The result is The Lone Bellow's most sophisticated work to date.

"We try to invite as many people into the process to see what we can make together," Brian says. "I like that spirit and that freedom. Then, the songs speak for themselves."

2020 Bell's Beer Garden Summer Concert Series

Doug Martsch formed Built To Spill in 1992. His intention was to sustain a project that would involve a rotating cast of musicians to record albums and tour. The first incarnation of Built To Spill included Doug, Brett Netson, and Ralf (Youtz). Recording in the middle of the night in order to get free studio time, they assembled 1993s Ultimate Alternative Wavers. For a few years and a few records band members came and went.

Their latest release, Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnston features Martsch, bassist Jason Albertini and drummer Steve Gere. The songs derive from the band's rehearsals during Johnston's final tour in 2017 when they served as the late songwriter's backing band.

"It was pretty special for us," Martsch tells Rolling Stone of playing with Johnston. "It was a lot heavier than what I thought it would be." As far as the album itself, Martsch added, "Basically we wanted to get a good documentation of what our rehearsals were like." The album was in the final stages of production in September when the cult artist died from natural causes at the age of 58

New Built To Spill lineup features Melanie Radford and Teresa Esguerra.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
2020 Bell's Beer Garden Summer Concert Series

Drive-By Truckers is kicking off the new election year with The Unraveling, our first new album in 3 1/2 years (the longest space between new DBT albums ever). Those years were among the most tumultuous our country has ever seen and the duality between the generally positive state of affairs within our band while watching so many things we care about being decimated and destroyed all around us informed the writing of this album to the core.

While a quick glance might imply that we're picking up where 2016's American Band album left off, the differences are as telling as the similarities. If the last one was a warning shot hinting at a coming storm, this one was written in the wreckage and aftermath. I've always said that all of our records are political but I've also said that 'politics IS personal'. With that in mind, this album is especially personal.

Our 2018 single "The Perilous Night" acted as a sort of coda to the polemic of the last album and the original plan was to zigzag in a different direction, but alas the past few years have seen an uptick in school shootings, church shootings, racial violence, suicides and overdoses, border violence, and an assault on so many things that we all hold dear. They're literally putting children in cages. Writing silly love songs just seemed the height of privilege.

In the end, we whittled the album down to the nine songs included, saving several key songs for a foundation to the next one that will hopefully occur sooner than later. Lilla Hood designed the packaging utilizing a stunning photo by Erik Golts of two young lads watching a sunset at the Oregon coast, lettering by famed graphic artist Aaron Draplin, and once again beautiful artwork from our long time collaborator Wes Freed. We plan on touring extensively throughout the next year taking these songs around the world.

We hope to see you there.

- Patterson Hood

It's a beautiful moment when music from the heart and poetry from the soul truly connects with its intended audience. For Satsang lead singer and songwriter Drew McManus, that moment occurred on a 2018 tour through the Midwest, Northeast and Pacific Coast in which two-thirds of the band's dates sold out. That's when the truth hits home for McManus that his soulful, reggae-infused blend of folk-rock and melodic hip hop and its message of strength, growth and resilience is his testimony to the world - and the world is finally listening.

Satsang, in its few short years, has headlined or shared the stage with the likes of Michael Franti & Spearhead, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Trevor Hall, Wookiefoot and many more. The Montana-based quartet is currently enjoying the success of its 2019 release, Kulture, a collection of songs representing the culmination of all the band's influences

"In Kulture, you can hear influences from Motown to 90's hip hop to Tom Petty, but none of it was really intentional," McManus says. "It was just me finally finding my sound. It's authentic. It's the first thing we've made that feels 100 percent like us."

Mustard Plug started out in the punk clubs, basements and dive bars of the Midwest, playing punk-influenced ska music before most people in the U.S. had ever heard of ska. They clung to a DIY work ethic that had been ingrained in them growing up in the 1980's hardcore punk scene and applied it to everything they would ever do together as a band. Mustard Plug released their first cassette tape themselves (1992's Skapocalypse Now!), and played constantly to earn enough money to record their first album - 1994's Big Daddy Mulititude. Their debut full length was released on legendary NYC label Moon Records (home of Toasters, Hepcat, Dance Hall Crashers, and pretty much every other 90's ska band of note). With their new found national distribution and exposure, the band climbed into their van and performed their music to new fans across North America. Twenty-one years, 1500 shows and 200,000 album sales later, it cannot be denied that the band has surpassed all expectations and permanently staked their claim in contemporary music..

Ever-evolving artist Bob Mould-whose face belongs on the Mount Rushmore of alternative music-decided to "write to the sunshine," as he describes it, not because he likes the current administration. It comes from a more personal place-a place found in Berlin, Germany, where he's spent the majority of the last three years. Here Mould would draw inspiration from the new environments.

The theme, the cathartic vocals, and the strings all amount to Mould's catchiest, grabbiest album since Copper Blue, the acclaimed 1992 debut of his trio Sugar. Back then, Mould's work in Hüsker Dü, as a solo artist, and in Sugar helped define the sound of guitar rock in the alternative age. Sunshine Rock finds him doing it again for an era that has ostensibly eschewed rock.
