Tim Hagans is one of the foremost jazz musicians and composers working today. He was nominated for Grammy awards for Best Instrumental Composition for “Box of Cannoli” from THE AVATAR SESSIONS (2010 Fuzzy Music); Best Contemporary Jazz CD for RE-ANIMATION (2000 Blue Note) and ANIMATION-IMAGINATION (1999 Blue Note). Jim Macnie of the Village Voice wrote: “Fetchingly situated between Brownian blasts and Milesian murmurs, the trumpeter’s lines cover lots of emotional breadth. It makes for a straight-ahead quintet approach that is quite willing to bend the rules to suit a tune’s forgotten corners.” Tim Hagans has performed and recorded with Thad Jones, Ernie Wilkins, Joe Lovano, Bob Belden and Dexter Gordon. It was Thad Jones who encouraged Tim to write music, and Hagans' first composition appeared on a Thad Jones Eclipse LP.

Andrew Rathbun has achieved a rare depth of lyricism and compositional intelligence in 20 years as a recording artist; Ben Ratliff of the New York Times described Rathbun as “an industrious saxophonist and imaginative composer-arranger.” Voted as a “Rising Star” in the 2018 Downbeat Critics Poll, he has documented his stirring original music with a series of 15 acclaimed recordings, on the Challenge, Fresh Sound and Steeplechase labels, and has collaborated with musicians like Kenny Wheeler, Billy Hart, Ben Monder and Luciana Souza .

Matthew Fries is professor of jazz piano at Western Michigan University. He is highly regarded in the jazz world as both a soloist and accompanist. The winner of the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, his debut album, Song for Today (TCB Music) was named a 2001 critics pick by Jazziz Magazine, and his continuing work with his collaborative trio, TRI-FI, “takes on the Jazz Trio challenge and delivers a ‘knock out’ punch” (Jazz Review). As a sideman his work has been described as “the best jazz accompaniment I’ve seen in a cabaret in years” (The New York Times), and “the crispest rhythm section imaginable” (The London Times). Matthew lived in New York City for almost 25 years performing with many of the greatest jazz musicians.

John Hébert is considered one of jazz’s most highly respected bassists. Moving from New Orleans to New York City almost 30 years ago, John has established himself as a integral force in the music from his performances and credits with artists Andrew Hill, Lee Konitz, Paul Bley, John Abercrombie, Kenny Wheeler, Paul Motian, Joe Maneri, Mary Havorson, Tomasz Stanko, David Liebman, Uri Caine, Greg Osby, Bill Stewart, Marc Copland, Fred Hersch, Toots Thielemans, Maria Schneider and many others. John has received many accolades including 2 Grammy nominations with the Fred Hersch Trio and most recently winning a JUNO for best jazz album alongside pianist Andy Milne and drummer Clarence Penn.

Keith Hall has established himself as a joyful performer over the last 25 years, performing with the likes of Betty Carter, Sir Roland Hanna, Michael Phillip Mossman, Janis Siegel, Steve Wilson and many others. He continues to tour and record with his critically acclaimed trio TRI-FI and is releasing his new album Trios and Duos-Made in Kalamazoo, featuring bassist Robert Hurst. Hall is also a passionate educator and is Professor of Jazz Drum Set at Western Michigan University, where he holds his annual Summer Drum Intensive and is the author Jazz Drums Now! Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

Bonehawk is a Rock and Roll band from Kalamazoo, Michigan playing a modern approach to 70’s era psychedelic hard rock, heavy metal, jam, and blues.

For fans of Thin Lizzy, Allman Brothers, Iron Maiden, Dio, and ZZ Top, BoneHawk brings a modern take with their own sound of big buzzy riffs, smooth vocals, thunderous drums, and tons of guitar harmony interplay.

In 2014, Bonehawk’s debut album, Albino Rhino, was self-released and made more than a splash locally.  The record spread west where the band was picked up by San Francisco label Ripple Music, who rereleased Albino Rhino internationally.   After countless nation wide tours, festivals, and re-pressings of their debut record, Bonehawk decided to regroup and begin work on new songs.

In 2016, Bonehawk released a split album and also a tribute to Thin Lizzy.

2020 marked the long awaited return of Bonehawk with the release of Iron Mountain and a new lineup consisting of Matt Helt (Vocals & Guitar), Nate Cohn (Drums), Cam Mammina (Guitars), and Matt Smith (bass).

Close your eyes and you won’t know the difference. Open them and you still might be fooled. The Insiders present the premier Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers experience. With 6 veteran musicians and decades of combined stage and touring experience, The Insiders are genuinely running down the dream.

It all starts with frontman Max Lockwood. “I grew up listening to Tom. My mom would play Tom Petty’s Greatest Hits while she worked out. I’d sit at the top of the stairs and listen to those songs—it was my most requested CD at the age of 6.” In high school, Lockwood’s band Big Dudee Roo started covering Mary Jane’s Last Dance at their frequent shows in West Michigan. “Tom was part of the great American landscape to me—a legend by the time I was musically conscious. We got a great crowd reaction with Petty tunes, and people frequently commented that I sounded authentically ‘Petty.’”

Nothing has changed with time. After the passing of Tom Petty in October of 2017, Lockwood organized the band by pulling together some of his favorite musicians for a benefit concert. After a sold-out show that raised thousands for a local domestic violence shelter, The Insiders decided they wouldn’t back down.

“We try to honor what Mr. Petty and the Heartbreakers have done for rock and roll each night. We’re fans of the music foremost. These songs are woven into the fabric of the American identity.” They’ve found no shortage of demand, selling out shows everywhere they go in the first year of the band’s existence. Local Spins’ John Sinkevics had this to say: “The Insiders set the bar at a new level for Tom Petty tributes.”

“Every waterfall jump scene in your head.”

“For every spaceship crew that went into warp and never made it back”

“For debris that never sinks in an eddy.”

The Go Rounds are one of contemporary indie rock’s most creative groups, a bold and visionary collection of talented musicians that have forged a reputation as innovators over the course of five studio albums and countless live performances.

Hailing from Kalamazoo, Michigan, they’ve firmly established themselves in the Great Lakes music community, becoming staples of the local festival circuit while taking their electric live show from coast to coast, from SXSW to Chicago’s Green Music Fest. Having shared the stage with Jeff Tweedy, Delicate Steve, Mandolin Orange, The Wood Brothers, Caroline Rose, The War and Treaty, Liz Cooper & the Stampede, and Lucy Rose, The Go Rounds are seriously experienced performers with the material to back it up.

Described as a blend of psychedelia, Americana, twang-rock and jelly-roll with a healthy dose of pop sensibility holding things together, The Go Rounds write music that sounds like bits and pieces of all your favorite bands exploded into rock ‘n roll confetti. Fingerpicked guitar, fuzzy distorted tones, introspective ambience, spellbinding vocals and effervescent synth-pop: they manage to effortlessly weave together a varied sonic palette through intricate arrangements that are at once accessible, engaging, surprising and evocative.

The All American Funk Parade brings a soft, cozy heat to a cold winter's night. But before you know it, that gentle heat has found its way deep into your loins where it quickly becomes anything but gentle. Lo! What fire is this that burns inside of you now?! This unquenchable, insatiable, intangible concentration of funk and flame! The night is cold but now you... you are hot. You are here and you are hot. You take off your ugly holiday sweater that you came in with 'fore you are too hot for the holidays. Beneath your hideous sweater is the most festive swimwear known to mankind. Perhaps, you even pull out a snorkle to ingest the cool air that floats above the funky firth. Yes, now you are ready to party with the All American Funk Parade.

OUT is Isaac Turner, Chafe Hensley and Mark Larmee – also of the acclaimed Michigan rock/roll band Minutes – joined in this new endeavor by TJ Larmee on the bass guitar.

OUT’s music is all about the interplay between seemingly simple lines (vocal blurts / guitar riffs) that come together to make a whole larger than its parts, described as both fist pumping and anthemic.

For Prof, the worlds of fact and fiction are often intertwined, as he balances on a fine line between real-life experiences and yet unfulfilled fantasies. The Minneapolis rapper has made a robust career for himself by crafting memorable songs about everything from heartache to arson. These terrific tales and his dynamic stage show have led to concerts and tours across the country, and have exposed him to life-altering experiences. They also planted a seed.

An accomplished and open-minded artist, Prof first started playing with a concept in one of his rhyme books years ago. As the idea germinated, the Minnesota artist decided to apply it to his life and his neighborhood while tapping into his vast imagination and his remarkable life. The result is Prof’s new album on Stophouse Music Group, Powderhorn Suites, a wide-ranging artistic tour de force that places him among rap’s most gifted auteurs. “There’s so many different things happening in a hotel at one time,” Prof explains. “Somebody’s doing drugs. Somebody’s having sex. There’s a fight over there. Someone’s trying to get some rest over here. There’s just so much going on in one place.”

The same can be said for Powderhorn Suites, a remarkable rollercoaster of a project that hits stunning highs and features dramatic lows. “Squad Goals” rollicks along with a festive beat and a nod to the “U Name It” challenge, while the liberating “Outside Baby” celebrates women who are vocal during sex. With the tense “Numbers,” Prof, Muja Messiah and Taylor J detail the struggles that come with trying to make ends meet. Then on “Fire Lessons,” Prof draws from the real-life anger and emotion he felt after a tense night in which he was chased by police and hit rock bottom. The album concludes with a stunningly powerful group of songs in which Prof analyzes the lasting effects of a dysfunctional upbringing (“Flower Boy”), ends a relationship with his soulmate (“The Ending”), and gives himself a moment to be proud of his accomplishments (“Karma Legend”).

Making Powderhorn Suites proved beyond therapeutic. “If I couldn’t make these songs, man, I might be a vicious animal,” muses Prof, who has done about a dozen paintings he hopes to exhibit in an art gallery in conjunction with the release of his album. “I don’t know what I’d be doing. I’d probably be self-destructive, so it’s good that I can do this.”

As an artist and a man who is fueled by overcoming his past, standing in his strength, and pushing himself creatively, Prof has plenty of inspiration to draw from as he moves into the next phases of his career and his life. “I don’t want to get old and stale,” Prof proclaims. Powderhorn Suites shows that Prof has nothing to worry about.

It's hard to imagine a band just coming into their own after 20 years of success, but that's exactly what makes a true anomaly. This multi-national, Celtic juggernaut grows stronger with each live performance, and as you can imagine, after two decades and over 2000 shows, it is a true force to be reckoned with. With their latest release, Go Climb a Tree, their music has never sounded more representative of themselves as musicians and as live performers.

The band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience, and it's a well-diversified crowd for sure. The country-music folks adore the storytelling, the bluegrass-heads love the instrumentals, Celtic fans love their devotion to tradition, and the rockers simply relish the passion they play their instruments with. Each band member, in their own way, expresses a deep gratitude for their fans, but it's best summed up in the words of Patrick Murphy: "The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We're here for them."

Southern Culture On The Skids has been consistently recording and touring around the world since its inception in 1983, when Rick Miller was a grad student at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The current lineup (Dave Hartman - drums; Mary Huff - bass and vocals; Rick Miller - guitar and vocals) has been playing together for over 30 years. The band's musical journey has taken them from allnight NC house parties to late night network talk shows, and from performing at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan to rockin' out for the inmates at NC Correctional Facilities. Their music has been featured in movies and TV, and used to sell everything from diamonds to pork sausage, and their legendary live shows are a testament to the therapeutic powers of foot-stomping, butt-shaking rock and roll.
