Godfrey Daniels is one of the oldest and most venerable music institutions in eastern Pennsylvania. A small neighborhood coffeehouse and listening room, it has long been a hangout for music lovers and aspiring musicians, and, in the late 1970s, one of these was a young Moravian College student named John Gorka. Though his academic course work lay in Philosophy and History, music began to offer paramount enticements. Soon he found himself living in the club's basement and acting as resident M.C. and soundman, encountering legendary folk troubadours like Canadian singer/songwriter Stan Rogers, Eric Andersen, Tom Paxton and Claudia Schmidt. Their brand of folk-inspired acoustic music inspired him, and before long he was performing his own songs - mostly as an opener for visiting acts. Soon he started traveling to New York City, where Jack Hardy's legendary Fast Folk circle (a breeding ground for many a major singer/songwriter) became a powerful source of education and encouragement. Folk meccas like Texas' Kerrville Folk Festival (where he won the New Folk Award in 1984) and Boston followed, and his stunningly soulful baritone voice and emerging songwriting began turning heads. Those who had at one time inspired him - Suzanne Vega, Bill Morrissey, Nanci Griffith, Christine Lavin, Shawn Colvin - had become his peers.
In 1987, the young Minnesota-based Red House Records caught wind of John's talents and released his first album, I Know, to popular and critical acclaim. With unusual drive and focus, John hit the ground running and, when an offer came from Windham Hill's Will Ackerman in 1989, he signed with that label's imprint, High Street Records. He proceeded to record five albums with High Street over the next seven years: Land of the Bottom Line, Jack's Crows, Temporary Road, Out of the Valley and Between Five and Seven. His albums and his touring (over 150 nights a year at times) brought new accolades for his craft. Rolling Stone called him "the preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement."

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
With only his voice and a guitar for accompaniment, Jeffrey Gaines has earned a reputation as a captivating performer, entertaining audiences everywhere he goes.

Raised in Harrisburg, PA by parents more inclined to spin soul classics by Aretha and Otis than the New Wave and Brit Rock blasting from their son's room, a teenaged Gaines began singing and playing guitar in several local garage bands. He soon decided to set out on his own and quickly landed a record deal, releasing Jeffrey Gaines, the first of his five studio releases. The album garnered four stars from The Philadelphia Inquirer, describing Gaines as "...an ethereal soul...insistent, impassioned, full of self-knowledge." Somewhat Slightly Dazed, and Galore followed. Interview Magazine called Gaines' music "soul-searching" and "refreshingly free of jargon, sentiment or cliché."
Jeffrey Gaines released Always Be (Artemis) to both critical and commercial praise. Featuring his emotional interpretation of "In Your Eyes" and his own soaringly beautiful "Always Be," the album hit #5 on R&R Callout America CHR/Pop list, also reaching #45 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. The New York Post proclaimed Always Be as "a dozen-song mix...that completely illustrates the depth he is capable of."
Gaines' impressive catalogue grew with Toward The Sun, produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, and Crowded House). The Boston Globe declared that "Gaines' soulful, wounded vocals make a case for his being one of pop's finest singers...an artist who deserves far more attention than some of his more hyped, yet less talented peers." Mojo noted, "This established soul-folkie's sexy growl has an underlying edge, making it a memorable album. Heartfelt unpretentious."
Throughout his career, Gaines has built a rapport with his fans unlike any other in popular music today. Gaines goes as far as letting his fans influence the songs he performs each night. "When it's just me playing, I only know the first song I'm going to play, but from there the energy and the vibe tell me what the next song is going to be. Someone may yell a song, and I'm like 'Exactly! Good call.' That's so fun to me, keeping it exciting and spontaneous. I don't even know what's around the corner, and the crowd doesn't either.

Dar Williams has been called "one of America's very best singer-songwriters" by The New Yorker. She's released ten studio albums and authored four books including her latest, "What I Found In A Thousand Towns," to be released in September.
Known as much for her staunch progressive ideals as her raw acoustic energy, Williams has been captivating audiences with her sheer elegance and honesty in her folk-pop songwriting since the '90s. Williams' growth as an individual over her two-decade-long career has gone hand-in-hand with her evolution as an artist, touring along the way with such distinguished peers as Joan Baez, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, Loudon Wainwright III and Shawn Colvin among others.
Dar's most recent album, Emerald, "deals as bluntly as ever with the shadowy, subtle corners of humanity" according to Rolling Stone, and was recorded with friends such as Richard Thompson, Jill Sobule, Jim Lauderdale, the Milk Carton Kids, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Suzzy
Roche, the Hooters and others in various studios across the U.S. It is a sparkling collection of new original material, inspired collaborations and some surprising covers such as B.A.D.'s "Johnny Appleseed" making this album one of her best yet.
"Dar Williams, one of America's very best singer-songwriters... Her songs are beautiful. Some are like finely crafted short stories. They are, variously, devastatingly moving, tenderly funny, subtle without being in any way inaccessible, and utterly fresh-not a cliché or a clunker in her
entire songbook." -The New Yorker

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
"Sounding like no other singer of her generation" (Allmusic.com), Mary Fahl is an expressive, emotional singer/songwriter who first achieved fame as lead singer and co- founder of the mid-1990s NYC-based chamber-pop group OCTOBER PROJECT. The hallmark of their sound was Mary Fahl's awe-inspiring power vocals over gorgeous melodies played with passion and sophistication. As a solo artist, Mary has released several compelling albums, including the fantastic re-working of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" for V2 Records; her wonderful, original studio album "The Other Side of Time" on Sony Odyssey; and her acclaimed album "Love and Gravity". She has also written and performed songs for several major motion pictures, including the lead song ("Going Home") for the Civil War epic Gods and Generals. Now Mary returns with her album "Live at the Mauch Chunk Opera House", a collection of twenty-three tracks recorded live at one of America's oldest vaudeville theaters and winner of the Indie Acoustic Award for multi-genre "Album of the Year". The show was filmed for PBS and is currently airing around the country. Fahl's elegant, cinematic songs draw on classical and world music sources, American art song, as well as thinking man's folk-pop which she performs with an earthy, viscerally powerful contralto that Boston Globe critic Steve Morse calls "a voice for the gods that can transport listeners to other realms". Her upcoming performance will include "Exiles", a song written for Anne Rice's new audiobook "The Wolves of Midwinter", a stunning cover of the Joni Mitchell classic "Both Sides Now", and many October Project favorites.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
"Lightman's dusky vocals and earthy, groovy vibe invite comparisons to Joan Osborne and Sheryl Crow." -USA TODAY
In a crowded social-media driven marketplace, Toby Lightman's pure and soulful voice connects with listeners emotionally and cuts through the noise. People Magazine agrees, stating that "Toby Lightman continues to shine a light on her knack for making rich, soulful pop". In the 15 years since signing with a major label, Toby has developed and mastered her own sophisticated and unique urban pop sound.
Classically trained on the violin and self-taught on the guitar, Lightman was unaware of her vocal talent until high school. Her first solo appearance was singing Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" at her high school graduation to 2,000 friends and family who were unaware that she harbored such talent. The overwhelming reaction from the crowd was what propelled her to buy a guitar and begin her journey as a recording artist. Lightman moved to New York City after graduating from University of Wisconsin, and signed a record deal with Jason Flom (Matchbox 20, Lorde, Jesse J) President of Lava Records with only 3 songs written.
Thrust into the spotlight, her debut album Little Things appeared on the Billboard Top 100 in its first week and gave way to comparisons to sultry songstress' like Lauryn Hill, Sheryl Crow and Norah Jones. Darling to the normally harsh critics, Lightman received high praise from magazines like Rolling Stone, People, Billboard and others, which led to appearances on Letterman, Carson Daly, Conan, CBS Morning Show and more. Her second record, Bird on a Wire(2006), helped lead Lightman to enormous success in the film and TV industry with the single "My Sweet Song" being featured in the movie PS I Love You, starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. She began and has continued to tour extensively, both solo and sharing the bill with renowned artists such as Rob Thomas, Jewel, James Blunt, Gavin DeGraw, Train, Marc Cohn, and one special evening opening for the legendary Prince, an artist that Toby grew up idolizing. Prince happened to be watching the night Toby appeared on Conan and was so impressed with her performance he invited her to open for him.
Toby Lightman's story is still being told, and she will be touring in support of new, deeply personal music in the months and years to come.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Experience Janis! With a twinkle in her eye and that rasp in her voice, CC Coletti channels the spirit of Janis Joplin, belting out hit after hit in a heartfelt tribute performance. Her band of seasoned pros recreates the sound that defined a generation, slamming through classic 60s jams, laying down the soul, and conveying the tender ballads and old timey blues numbers that made Joplin a legend.

CC discovered Janis Joplin's music at the age of 13. As she tells it, "Me and Bobby McGee" was the first song she ever sat down and learned. "We had one of those little tape players, and I sat in the kitchen, jotting down lyrics and rewinding, over and over until I got the whole thing right," she says. "I'm not sure why, but I was really drawn to Janis, even then."

CC and her band steam through the Janis catalog, peppering their hit-filled sets with some of Janis' best deep cuts. Sights and sounds complement each other, as the stage is time-warped back to the psychedelic 60s, with tie-dye, lava lamps, and choice threads. A phycodelic visual show sets the backdrop for the band's vintage gear, which provides an authentic sound as CC pays homage to her idol in the best way she knows how -- urgently preaching the gospel according to Janis.

CC, the show's jewel and pearl, has a flourishing career of her own, including a string of successful solo recordings and 8 years on the road as part of rock icon Meat Loaf's Neverland Express world tours from 2003 through 2011. She appeared on three of his DVD's. Bat Out Of Hell Live With Melbourne Symphony, Three Bats Live and a documentary, In Search of Paradise. CC's voice can be heard on Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell 3 album and Hang Cool Teddy Bear. CC was also featured as the opening act for Meat Loaf's European tour in 2007. All the while, she never forgot her early musical inspiration and knew it was inevitable that she'd pay tribute to her childhood idol.
