PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
DIRT MONKEY—aka Patrick Megeath, is smashing 2018. With roughly a dozen recent high profile releases, and a stacked tour schedule already under wraps, a packed festival season is about to begin, and more new tunes are on the way. Over the past several years, Dirt Monkey has carved his uplifting, bouncy, and unique sounds into the Denver dubstep community, and onto the national touring scene. He finished last year with a strong release schedule: “Wubula” (SubCarbon), “Beef” w/ Boogie T (SubCarbon), and “Wobble Like This EP” (Disciple Round Table), He took this brisk pace into to a fall tour with Bear Grillz and direct support on a Ganja White Night tour at the beginning of this year that sold out nearly every date. As a pioneer in the dubstep and bass music genres, Dirt Monkey has garnered support from many of his peers: Griz, Rusko, Excision, Snails, Liquid Stranger, A-Trak, Virtual Riot, Anna Lunoe, Annie Nightingale (BBC Radio 1), Downlink, Ganja White Night, and Protohype. Dirt Monkey’s recent remix of Rusko’s “Woo Boost” (SubCarbon) was supported by Rusko himself, and his recent “Wubula” album gained wide support across the festival circuit from broad swaths of well-known DJs. He has worked and collaborated with a wide-variety of artists such as: Ganja White Night, DMVU, Illenium, Boogie T, Conrank, Subtronics, Run DMT w Barrington Levy, and Jantsen. Dirt Monkey has performed at a countless number of breathtaking venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, clubs in France, and Beta Nightclub in Denver, CO (where he has held a residency for the last 5 years). Also, for the past four years, he established and ran the record label, Kairos Audio, before handing it off to label partner and co-founder, Jantsen Robertson. Dirt Monkey is fresh off a sold out after party at Buku Music + Arts Project and a great festival performance at Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival. Now he’s gearing up for a co-headline tour with Subtronics, “Warp Drive 18”, which will carry him into confirmed appearances at EDC Las Vegas, Toxic Summer, and Global Dance Festival, preparing audiences for an Full Length album, an EP, and no less than 5 singles on deck through the rest of the year. Dirt Monkey has always striven to fuse the wonky, high-energy sounds of old school dubstep, and the crisp sounds of EDM. Now, he’s succeeding in bringing that sound to a global audience.

Morning Teleportation formed in 2005 when Tiger Merrit (vocals/guitar) moved from Chicago to Bowling Green Kentucky for college and met up with childhood friend Travis Goodwin (keyboards/saxophone/vocals). From the beginning the band has been a roller coaster ride of Rock and Roll sound traveling in and out of psychedelia, indie rock and jazz. Most of the last few years has been spent either in the studio or on the road playing for crowds at Bonnaroo and Sasquatch and supporting the likes of The Flaming Lips, Cage The Elephant and Modest Mouse.

To see the band perform live is to witness a cacophony of improvisational mayhem and melodic twist and turns. Merrit’s vocals dart sharply in and out of the hectic back beat that the rhythm section holds down. The sound may be more modern but make no mistake, these are boys who want nothing more than to have a good time in the classic rock idiom. If they can make the crowd smile they can leave happy.

Morning Teleportation is a house party, a futuristic hootenanny and a backroom jam session all rolled into one.

This event is 18+ with valid photo ID.

NYC trio Consider the Source defy easy description. If intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math, it’d probably just sound like a CTS tribute band. Drawing from progressive rock, fusion and jazz, with alien sounds soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate parts into a striking, utterly original whole. Dubbed “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion”, the band’s music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal. A relentless touring schedule has won the band a fervent following from California to Israel, with fans ranging from jam-band hippies and jazz cats to corpse-painted headbangers and prog geeks.

Formed in 2004, Consider the Source features Gabriel Marin on fretless double-neck guitar, bassist John Ferrara, and drummer/percussionist Jeff Mann. Called “the guiding light for his generation of six-stringers”, Marin channels the mystical fury of McLaughlin and Coltrane into wailing melodies, kaleidoscopic soundscapes and boneshaking riffs. With a background in classical musics both Eurpoean and Indian, and an instinct for avant-jazz and destructive metal, Marin’s hypnotic fusion of styles is ever unpredictable. Ferrara’s propulsive, percussive attack, equally suited to simple grooves and impossible chords, can ground the music or launch it into space. His madcap gumbo of slap bass, Indian rhythms, earthy minimalism and complex tapping constantly pushes into strange new worlds, whilst still dropping thick booty-clap beats. Underneath them lies Mann’s rolling thunder; dense rhythmic architecture built from pure swagger and bounce. Half double-bass prog-metal, half crackle-pop Buddy Rich swing, with African and Balkan swirls, Mann’s muscular, freewheeling polyrhythms are the engine fuel for Consider’s multiversal mischief. Even when not improvising, Consider’s music is always a conversation, a roiling stew of dynamic interplay. Each member of Consider the Source alternately leads and follows, spars and assists; in any single song, alliances are made and broken, bargains struck and divorces finalized.

Touring from coast to coast, as well as Europe and the Middle East, has not only earned the band thousands of fans, but has allowed them to perform with a wide variety of well-known artists, including Victor Wooten, Wayne Krantz, King Crimson Projekt, Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee), Wyclef Jean, Andy Statman, Matt Darriau (Paradox Trio), Oteil Burbridge, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Dumpstaphunk, Keller Williams, George Porter, Jr., Jeff Sipe, Panzerballet (Germany), Eatliz (Israel), Freak Kitchen (Sweden), Morglbl (France), and many others. They have performed at numerous festivals and events, including Burning Man, Gathering of the Vibes, the NYC Fretless Guitar Festival, Catskill Chill, Sun Seekers Ball (Canada), Aura Music & Arts Festival (Florida), Jazz Fest (New Orleans), Head For The Hills Festival & SXSW (Texas), Rootwire (Ohio), and the NYC Gypsy Festival. The band’s latest release, “World War Trio (Parts 2 & 3)” (2016) is available at considerthesourcemusic.bandcamp.com.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Some music cannot be found on a map or within iTunes categories. Some music is so original it seems snatched from the great, invisible substrata that runs below all human activity, a sound aching to be born without a flag or fixed allegiance – free, questing, overflowing with immediate, tangible life. This is the music of Toubab Krewe, the vibrant Asheville, NC-based instrumental powerhouse that creates a sonic Pangaea that lustily swirls together rock, African traditions, jam sensibilities, international folk strains and more. While nearly impossible to put into any box, it takes only a few moments to realize in a very palpable way that one is face-to-face with a true original who recognizes no borders in a march towards a muscular, original, globally switched-on sound.

Formed in 2005, Toubab Krewe has tenaciously honed their craft through relentless touring and a fierce dedication to carving out something they can truly call their own. The fruits of this hard work can be heard on their latest release, STYLO, (March 2nd, 2018). What Justin Perkins (Kora, Kamelngoni, guitar, percussion), Terrence Houston (drumset), Drew Heller (guitar, organ), Justin Kimmel (bass, keys), and Luke Quaranta (Djembe, Congas, Dundun, Sangban, Kinkini) have wrought on STYLO reflects the many miles and musical journeys that have transpired since their last studio album, TK2.

This is a band that actively draws inspiration from whatever source floats into their purview, something they've exhibited in their decade and a half of heavy gigging, including regular appearances at major U.S. festivals like Bonnaroo, High Sierra, Rothbury and Wakarusa, and abroad at such legendary gatherings as the Festival In The Desert in Essakane, Mali. Whether on their own or collaborating with luminaries like the Last Poets' Umar Bin Hassan or Uncle Earl's Rayna Gellert, Toubab Krewe has already earned the attention and respect of a broad musical community.

Toubab carries echoes of African greats like Ali Farka Toure, Orchestra Baobab and Salif Keita, no doubt picked up during the group's travels to study and live in Guinea, Ivory Coast and Mali. But what truly differentiates Toubab Krewe from other Statesiders inspired by African music is how they innovate on what they've learned instead of simply recreating tradition. Toubab Krewe carves out a new trail honoring the African originators they admire by making something alive and contemporary.

Press Quotes:

"Toubab Krewe has such a visceral, ear-yanking quality that in the band's capable hands you just might find your definitions of what is/is not rock n' roll and worldbeat being completely rewritten. This is the sound of liberation." - Blurt

"a futuristic, psychedelic, neo-griot frenzy." - Village Voice

"a new standard for fusions of rock n' roll and West African music." - Afropop Worldwide

"one of the most innovative voices in music today." - Honest Tune

"Their music avoids cliché with authentic extrapolations of traditional Manding beats, percussion, and jam-band flare." - The New Yorker

"...expertly meshed surf guitar with Malian rhythmic patterns, a Dick Dale moves-to-Timbuktu experiment in Afro-California fusion." - The Boston Herald

Ghost Light is a true musical collaboration; five personalities, five perspectives, and five unique approaches towards one common sound.

Foregoing current traditions, rather than initially focusing on live shows, the band played together for the first time in a recording studio in Philadelphia. This decision gave the band’s members - Holly Bowling, Tom Hamilton, Steve Lyons, Raina Mullen and Scotty Zwang - the ability to come to the project with fresh ears and no pre-conceived notions. They developed the songs as they developed their musical communication which led to trust, creativity and an adventurous take on the process. Scotty Zwang explained it thusly, “It’s a unique and interesting approach we get to take...” “we are being patient with each other and figuring out what the song needs”

While the recording project has been the beginning point for Ghost Light, the live experience is what will define this band. “In the parts of the sessions where we have had a little more room to just let things go, there have been these little glimmers of what the improvisation will feel like live. That’s a whole other thing and it’s very exciting,” notes Holly Bowling. Tom Hamilton adds, “with this new band, we felt super comfortable going in any direction, knowing that with our new bandmates, the songs will get to where they needs to go. And in the live setting, that confidence is just as strong.”

The first half of 2018 will see the band playing major venues in major markets coast to coast, followed by heavy rotation on the festival circuit. The debut record will be released in the second half of the year and will be supported by an extensive tour. In 2018 you will get to know Ghost Light, and the future could not be brighter.
