Weightless is the highly anticipated follow-up to Longley’s 2015 self-titled release, which garnered praise from American Songwriter, Huffington Post and CMT Edge, to name a few. The new album delivers bold, thick pop with rock-and-roll edges. The starkly personal lyrics explore complexities and even dysfunction of relationships. Her award-winning songwriting is stronger than ever, and producer Bill Reynolds, the bassist of Band of Horses (also produced The Avett Brothers, Lissie) helps embrace a lush pop-rock approach which marks a musical evolution for Longley.

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Eight years into his career, Jon Black felt constrained working under his own name. His music had outgrown his singer-songwriter project, so he released an album of new material under the name FORT ATLANTIC. The debut surpassed every expectation: over 10M streams, and more than 6M views on YouTube. Black plotted his next steps. A cross-country move took him from Birmingham, AL to Portland, OR. He put a band together and went on tour. Soon they had new material, bigger and bolder still. Recorded in a secret location on the Oregon coast, SHADOW SHAKER, VOL. 1 tells of perseverance in the face of unrelenting trials. Crashing waves of cymbals and guitars frame lush forests of analog synths, mirroring the landscape of Black’s adopted home.
Primal motifs in the lyrics (darkness, water, sunlight) evoke the anxieties of life in 21st Century America, themes that presaged the storms to come. In 2015, the band was abruptly dropped from their label, the newly-completed record still unreleased.
As old plans were scrapped, and new plans hatched, Black’s pregnant wife went into emergency labor. They spent two long months in the NICU. Those songs of perseverance and hope, recorded for the rejected album just six months prior, were newly visceral. The album was released on the band’s own Hot Garbage label in October 2017. The video for Bathed In Sunlight has received critical praise and is an Official Selection in the 2018 Raindance Film Festival (UK), Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, and a few smaller festivals around the US.

“Who doesn’t love Tom Petty?” bassist Darryell Stone asked himself one day in 2012 while listening to the radio. There was only one answer he could imagine, “Nobody.” Testing his hypothesis, Stone polled friends, family and fellow musicians how they felt about Petty. The result was always the same. Everyone loves Tom Petty.

One of these fellow musicians just happened to be Tom Petty’s doppelganger, guitarist and lead vocalist Jonathan Guthrie. Guthrie was an avid fan and had always fantasized about being a Heartbreaker. As two seasoned musicians and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers fans, there was really only one thing for them to do – form a tribute band.

It wasn’t hard for Stone and Guthrie to find skilled musicians excited about playing in a Tom Petty tribute band. Drummer Steve Lucas, formerly of Feverdog and a band mate of Stone’s local band, Theatrix, quickly signed on. Lucas brought with him his M-80s band mate Glenn Freeman. Freeman, who boasts of seeing multiple Petty concerts in the 80s, brought an instrumental cornucopia to the group with keyboards, harmonica, guitar and backing vocals. Lead guitarist Curt Granger rounded out the lineup. With 30+ years experience in Birmingham’s local music scene, Granger has played in such circuit bands as Pyrate, Scream Sophie and his own solo project as well as creating a line of world-renowned boutique guitar amplifiers.

Equipped with decades of experience and a passion for Tom Petty’s magic way with songs, The Wildflowers bring music lovers of all stripes what they adore. More Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

“[Old Fashioned Gal] is a handsome showcase for her songwriting, which has grown ever more confident over the last decade, nostalgic in tone but clear-eyed in the application.” —NPR Music “Songs We Love”

“Kat Edmonson’s Old Fashioned Gal sounds like an alternate soundtrack to an Audrey Hepburn film, 11 self-penned songs of gentle romance and vulnerability in a decades-old style sparkling with modern sensibilities... and then there’s her voice. Part bashful debutante, part starry-eyed fiancée, part world-wise seductress, it possesses a singular expressiveness.” –Associated Press

“An intimate journey from doubt to resolve and implied triumph.” –Billboard

“This is someone who knows what they want to say.” –Relix

“…creating a new Great American Songbook.” –No Depression

"Her blend of traditional jazz and singer-songwriter pop is unusual but not without analogues…Willie Nelson, Rufus Wainwright, Gregory Porter and Edmonson’s longtime champion, Lyle Lovett have all explored similar territory. And there is something so distinctive about Edmonson’s voice and song-writing that she deserves a place among those fellow travelers." –Texas Music

Critically acclaimed vocalist and songwriter, actor and dancer, Kat Edmonson has played major stages across the United States, Europe and Japan. She’s appeared in major motion pictures, performed on radio and television, and released four groundbreaking albums to date. Her newest album, Old Fashioned Gal, is out now on Spinnerette Records. Her tour supporting the full length album continues with major tour stops throughout the U.S.

Of writing Old Fashioned Gal, Edmonson says, “I wrote these songs while holed up in my Brooklyn apartment during the winter of 2016. I had a terrible, reoccurring cold that winter and was often laid up in bed. I’d go back and forth from watching 1930s movies on Turner Classic Movies to working on a song. While writing this album, I realized that I was seeing what looked like scenes from a film in my head—a film not yet made. I ultimately sat down and wrote an entire outline for a screenplay—a musical, of course—with this music, the score. I processed a great deal of self-doubt in order to write this hopeful record. Old Fashioned Gal is about believing in yourself even when it seems no one else will.”

Old Fashioned Gal was entirely written and produced by Edmonson with associate production by band member and drummer Aaron Thurston. It was recorded over several sessions throughout the summer and fall of 2016 at Atomic Sound Studios in Brooklyn with Grammy winning engineer Fernando Lodeiro. This is her third time working with twenty-two-time Grammy-winning engineer Al Schmitt who mixed the record at Capitol Studios in Hollywood.

The album follows Edmonson’s critically acclaimed 2014 release The Big Picture, which debuted #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers, #1 on Contemporary Jazz Chart and #2 on the Total Jazz Chart. NPR First Listen described the record, “She’s a savvy student of ‘60s film soundtracks, jazz-pop stylists and Brill Building songcraft.” Her 2015 performance on “CBS This Morning: Saturday” garnered the program’s highest rated viewership since 2006. She recently appeared in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society as a 1930s jazz singer and is highlighted on the official soundtrack performing her version of “Mountain Greenery.”

MARTIN SEXTON
"The real thing, people." -Billboard

Martin Sexton returns with what Rolling Stone calls his “soul-marinated voice,” acoustic guitar, and a suitcase full of heartfelt songs.

The winter tour begins with an extensive run through Europe then takes Martin across North America trying out new material as well as reinventing his own classics for these critically-acclaimed solo performances.

Still fiercely independent and headlining venues from The Fillmore to Carnegie Hall, he has influenced a generation of contemporary artists. His songs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs, Parenthood, Masters of Sex and in numerous films, though it's his incendiary live show, honest lyrics, and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for a new experience every time.

Rolling Stone – 10 Best Country/Americana Songs of the Week
Sean McConnell, “Secondhand Smoke”
“Sean McConnell is a nostalgic mood, remembering his childhood car rides in the shotgun seat of his dad’s smoke-filled sedan. There’s barely any percussion here, with “Secondhand Smoke” rooting itself instead in puddles of arpeggiated guitar and the stirring swirl of McConnell’s voice. Like Brett Young’s “Mercy” — a chart-topping power ballad co-written by McConnell — “Secondhand Smoke” is both understated and stately, ignoring the usual country-pop fireworks while still delivering a palpable bang.”

The WorkPlay Theatre was built to make the audience leave saying WOW! WorkPlay has been bringing the most incredible shows to Birmingham for over 15 years. Simply put, it has superb sounding acoustics. Much thought went into everything from the construction of the room, to the dimples in the walls, to the metal railings making the acoustics sound amazing! There is not a bad seat in this listening mecca! The room seats a total of 325 people with a capacity of 450 standing and seated. The theater is primarily a General Admission room, but does offer limited seating and tables. Due to the demand for seating, we have a table reservation program for those who wish to guarantee they have a seat at a show. Sometimes, when you arrive there may be some tables available at a first come, first serve basis, but they go VERY quickly, be sure to guarantee that you have your seat and table in advance of the show. Please contact Amber for more information - amber@seattractions.com.
