ROSS NEWELL

(Formerly of THE MULLIGAN BROTHERS)
"Singer/songwriter Ross Newell bring a warmth and finely crafted talent to the experience and the superb vocal tone of Newell is without doubt one of the finest live voices I have heard in some time. Newell is a fine writer and his eye for a couplet is as finely honed as ever. "

THE KRICKETS

The Krickets are a female Americana group from the gulf coast who's music is what Paste Magazine calls a "a truly stunning, one-of-a-kind sound." With a specialty in swamp harmony, the group's genre-bending songwriting has allowed them to play for diverse audiences from listening rooms to official performances at SXSW. Their title track of their most 2018 album, Redbird, was just named Alt Country Song of the Year at the 2019 Independent Music Awards.

Their 2016 debut album, Spanish Moss Sirens was recorded in Muscle Shoals with Single Lock Record's Ben Tanner and also won an IMA for 'Cool Cool Water."

Originally coming together to play a breast cancer benefit in honor of Cristina "Cricket" Russell, The Krickets continue to support the cause by donating a portion of the proceeds from every album sale. This fund, created by Sacred Heart Hospital, provides screening for the uninsured in rural north Florida. Click here to donate to the Cricket Fund.

"The Krickets send chills down your spine and lift you sky high on their debut album Spanish Moss Sirens." - No Depression

Charles Wesley's sound is shaped by the time weathered hills and hollers of his home. Charles is a singer-songwriter born and raised in West Virginia. Nowadays, if you want to find him, you'd look in any dive bar, café, or live music venue in Appalachia.Charles didn't find music at an early age like many other artists. It wasn't until he was nineteen that he picked up a guitar and began singing songs.

He did however, grow up trout fishing in Upshur County streams, hunting on the Allegheny ridges, tagging along with his grandfather on the farm, and listening to old-timer's talk about their days in his grandparent's general store. Charles Wesley's father was a coal miner until his birth and his mother was a schoolteacher. Little did he know, this background would come to play a major role in the songs and stories that captivate rooms full of listeners today.

He's grateful to have shared the stage with artists such as Shooter Jennings, David Allan Coe, Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, Sundy Best, Waymore's Outlaws, Aaron Watson, Colter Wall, and many more.

Whether he's performing solo for a room full of patrons who've quieted to a barely audible murmur or a music hall full concert goers breaking in their boots to the rhythm of a Union Sound Treaty tune, Charles Wesley turns heads and opens ears everywhere he plays. His stories strike a chord in all of us and his voice gets the point across with a genuine authority.

Alash are masters of traditional Tuvan instruments as well as the ancient art of throat singing, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. Believing that traditional music must constantly evolve, the musicians subtly infuse their songs with western elements, creating their own unique style that is fresh and new, yet true to their Tuvan musical heritage.

ALASH are masters of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei), a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this gifted trio from earlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into their traditional music. One can find complex harmonies, western instruments, and contemporary song forms in Alash's music, but its overall sound and spirit is decidedly Tuvan.

Alash first toured the U.S. under the sponsorship of the Open World Leadership program of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Arts. Since then they have returned many times, to the delight of American audiences. The Washington Post described their music as "utterly stunning," quipping that after the performance "audience members picked their jaws up off the floor."

Alash enjoys collaborating with musicians of all stripes. Since their early partnership with the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra, they have joined forces with musicians across the spectrum-from country to classical to jazz to beatboxing. When they toured with Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, the Denver Post remarked, "As electrifying as the Flecktones' performance was, the band were nearly upstaged by Alash Ensemble." Alash appeared as guest artists on the Flecktones' holiday CD Jingle All the Way (2008), which won a Grammy. More recently, Alash joined Chicago's innovative Fifth House Ensemble in a groundbreaking concert series called Sonic Meditations.

Beyond performing, Alash has a passion for teaching and promoting understanding between cultures. Their tours often include workshops where they introduce Tuvan music to students from primary, middle and high schools, colleges, universities, and music conservatories. Children as young as 8 and 9 have learned to throat-sing. As one student exclaimed, "Alash opened my eyes to a whole new world!"

Alash has released four CDs of its own: Alash Live at the Enchanted Garden (2006), Alash (2007), Buura (2011), and Achai (2015, re-released on Smithsonian Folkways in 2017).

The members of Alash are:

Bady-Dorzhu Ondar: vocals, igil, guitar. Kyzyl Arts College, East Siberia State Academy of Culture and Art. Best soloist, 2005 All-Russian Festival of traditional ensembles and orchestras. Best in Maxim Dakpai xöömei competition, 2006. Named People's Xöömeizhi, 2007. Grand prize, International Xöömei Symposium, 2008.

Ayan-ool Sam: vocals, doshpuluur, igil, guitar. Republic School of the Arts, Kyzyl Arts College, Moscow State Pedagogical University. First prize, International Xöömei Symposium, 2008. Named People's Xöömeizhi, 2015.

Ayan Shirizhik: vocals, kengirge, shyngyrash, shoor, murgu, xomus. Kyzyl Arts College, East Siberia State Academy of Culture and Art. Second prize, International Xöömei Symposium, 2008. Named Distinguished Artist of Tuva, 2009.

Sean Quirk: interpreter and manager. Studied music in Tuva on a Fulbright fellowship. Named Distinguished Artist of Tuva, 2008.

Hogarth has never allowed himself to be pigeonholed or trapped in any one musical genre as his studio work runs the gamut from the heavy metal icons Mötley Crüe to the Grammy-winning Americana favorite Keb' Mo' to recent releases by Van Halen, Ziggy Marley and the Sick Puppies. Exclusive and particular in its clientele, the semi-private Santa Monica recording studio where McMurtry will be recording has recently opened its doors to Laurel Canyon legends such as David Crosby, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, David Bromberg and more. The spiritual vibe and feel of this studio, along with the cast of characters, will most definitely bring out the best in the upcoming McMurtry record.

Other notable players on the album (in addition to his stellar band) include David Grissom (John Mellencamp) and Harmoni Kelley (Kenny Chesney). McMurtry will unleash this latest collection of poignant and timely songs on New West Records this fall! "I first became aware of James McMurtry's formidable songwriting prowess while working at Bug Music Publishing in the '90s," says New West President John Allen. "He's a true talent. All of us at New West are excited at the prospect of championing the next phase of James' already successful and respected career." McMurtry joins New West's singular roster of top-tier roots music all-stars including Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, John Hiatt, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Buddy Miller, Nikki Lane and dozens more.

What began as Celtic Thunder's Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly performing a series of shows together called 'Acoustic By Candlelight' back in 2012 has turned into what is now known as Byrne and Kelly.

Driven by dynamic vocal harmonies, the duo seamlessly combines genres like traditional Irish and Americana to create a fresh, Celtic folk sound that has garnered comparisons to iconic folk-rock duos like Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers.

Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Darrell Scott mines and cultivates the everyday moment, taking the rote, menial, mundane, and allowing it to be surreal, ever poignant, and candidly honest, lilting, blooming, and resonating.

The words he fosters allow us to make sense of the world, what is at stake here, and our place in it. And ultimately, Darrell knows the sole truth of life is that love is all that matters, that we don't always get it right, but that's the instinctive and requisite circuitous allure of things, why we forever chase it, and why it is held sacred.

Darrell Scott comes from a musical family with a father who had him smitten with guitars by the age of 4, alongside a brother who played Jerry Reed style as well. From there, things only ramped up with literature and poetry endeavors while a student at Tufts University, along with playing his way through life. This would never change.

After recently touring with Robert Plant and the Zac Brown Band (2 years with each), and producing albums for Malcolm Holcomb and Guy Clark and being named "songwriter of the year" for both ASCAP and NSAI, these days find him roaming his Tennessee wilderness acreage hiking along the small river, creating delicious meals with food raised on his property and playing music.

He often leads songwriting workshops to help people tell their own truths with their stories, and is as busy as always writing, producing, performing, and just plain fully immersing himself in life.

Matthew B Mayes is the founder, principal songwriter, lead singer, Guitar and Guijo player for Jupiter Coyote. He has been playing music professionally for 30 years and has recorded 18 albums with Jupiter Coyote, The Raptor Trail, and his solo projects. He has played thousands of shows, toured everywhere, and sold a truck load of albums, streams and downloads. His song writing has been compared to Robert Hunter and Bob Dylan and he pulls from a wide range of experiences and millions of miles of travel. His songs cover a lot ground, stylistically and lyrically. Some are introspective and soul searching, some are wry and cynical. Many of his songs are autobiographical stories about his life, as seen through the eyes of a working musician who has spent thousands of hours on the road. He is a true musical treasure that serious music lovers outside the mundane pop culture should discover. Matt is a genre bending musician, a prolific writer, and an accomplished player. He even invented the Guijo, a half Stratacaster, half banjo instrument. He is best known in the southeastern, US, where Jupiter Coyote did and still does have a substantial following. Jupiter Coyote has been labeled "mountain rock," which has been defined as a multi colored blend of good ole southern boogie and country rock, with a nice dose of bluegrass infused, grooving funk. Think of a southern fried Phish with better song writing.

Matt has also released 4 albums with The Raptor Trail and JC members John Meyer and Gene Bass. A melodic prog band, a richly layered and sophisticated form of progressive rock music with very intelligent lyrical content. Imagine if the Allman Brothers and Rush were is a jam session, and Pink Floyd had a Guijo player. Do yourself a favor and listen to some of it.
Matthew is currently touring with Jupiter Coyote and performing
solo listening room shows and house shows all over the US.

Brian Ashley Jones Trio

Brian Ashley Jones is a soulful singer, acclaimed guitarist, and versatile touring songwriter whose guitar-driven Bluesy Country tunes have found their way into film, television and radio and have been recorded by other performing artists. Originally from the Greenville/Spartanburg area of South Carolina and a longtime resident of East Nashville, TN, Brian performs internationally at festivals, concert series, clubs, music education programs and music conferences. Jones' 3rd CD of original songs entitled Out Of The City features collaborations with Jonell Mosser, Suzi Ragsdale, Ike Stubblefield, Kevin McKendree, and more! Brian's 2007 release, Courier, made the Top 40 of the Roots Music Report, broke the Top 100 of the Americana Music Association's album chart, and has received widespread commercial, college, public, and international radio play. The swampy instrumental "Pull 'em Up" has been featured in the widely acclaimed PBS television series "Road Trip Nation" and "Free To Miss You" has been featured in the British ITV2 network television show "Amanda Holden's Fantasy Lives".

Jones' guitar chops and relentless touring earned him a nomination for Best American Roots Guitar Player in the Alternate Root's 2011 Reader's Choice Awards. Brian has accompanied a diverse batch of artists on stage and in the recording studio including Grammy Award winning songwriter Jon Vezner, Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductee Jerry Foster, Eric Heatherly, Caroline Aiken, Thom Shepherd, Sara Hickman, Donna Hopkins, David Gans, Corinne West, Doug Jones, Donovan Roberts, Jeff Black, Diane Durrett, Ralph Roddenbery, Deep Blue Sun, Celeste Krenz, Wyatt Easterling, and Spuyten Duyvil.

From singing at the top of her lungs while driving a '96 Chevy Cavalier in the Florida Panhandle where she grew up, to the first time she recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, music has always been an innate catalyst for Laura Rabell. Although her 9-5 life in Charlotte, North Carolina, was devoted to a career in marketing, Rabell's desire and love for music didn't go away. So she took a leap that so many others wish they could, ditching corporate America for Americana.

Since relocating to music city, Rabell's proven herself worthy as one of Nashville's rising songwriters - she's got a song to sing, but more importantly, a story to tell.

Rabell, who drew from storehouses of grit and perseverance as she battled breast cancer in 2019 while putting the finishing touches on her debut album, Immortal, is eager to channel that energy into life as a troubadour in 2020 - touring, playing music and making new fans.

This veritable badass doesn't shy away from exploring the dark side of life and love in her songwriting - through lyrics possessed by a poetic darkness that is undeniably juxtaposed by her warm and friendly personality. The album combines this mystifying depth of character and Southern noir perspective with unique and lush musical landscapes of producer Dave Coleman's Alt-Country invention.
