Nigerian-born saxophonist Shola Emmanuel interprets jazz in the African style, creatively fashioning music that feeds off traditional African rhythm while maintaining western voice, class and style.

Shola's new album, Kind of Music, reflects his lifelong influences in music, culture, and Gospel. Michael Rand described the album's latest single "Ododo", as "a caffeinated jazz sound swirling with angelic voices, smooth saxophone, pristine piano and flavorful percussion." Mindy McCall said, "Jazz has never sounded so passionate."

Shola's quintet for this concert includes jazz veterans Phil Adair on piano and vocals, Yakou Daniel on drums, percussion, and vocals, and Tosinger with vocals and percussion.

Shola has performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Africa with some of the most respected performers in professional music. The soulful rhythm of his blend of African highlife and American swing jazz connects with both jazz connoisseurs and those new to the genre.

Eric Dodd grew up in Greensboro, Georgia chasing two things: golf balls and guitar.

He had a passion and natural gift for both. He earned a golf scholarship to Georgia College and State University, where he majored in business. When he wasn't playing in golf tournaments, he was playing in frat houses with his band. He eventually transferred to the University of Georgia to pursue a music business degree and immerse himself in the fertile Athens music scene.

But in the end, it was lyrics over links that brought him to Music City.

In 2016, Dodd gained national attention as a CMT Discovery Artist, but he honed his craft playing more than 200 dates a year throughout the southeast performing in clubs, SEC colleges, and music halls where his likable personality, feel-good lyrics, musicianship, and energetic stage presence earned him a faithful following in a region with strong musical tastes and a deep pool of talent.

Since moving to Music City, Dodd has opened for Sam Hunt, Old Dominion, Jake Owen, Corey Smith, Cole Swindell, Rodney Atkins and recently for Sister Hazel, which was especially meaningful. "Opening up for Sister Hazel's sold out show at the Georgia Theatre in Athens (Georgia) has to be one of my favorite moments onstage," Dodd offered. "I earned my music business degree from UGA so it was one of those full circle moments."

"The Reason," released in June 2018 has gone on to garner more than 3MM streams across the various music services. It was included in multiple playlists on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Pandora and YouTube. The video, which features Dodd's wife was featured on CMT's "Must-See Indies You Need To Know" and the "12-Pack Countdown." Wide Open Country called the song "heartfelt and anthemic."

Dodd's latest release, "If We Were A Song," was directly inspired by both love and his live show. "So many times, my wife and I will be in the car and a song will come on that makes us say, 'we are so that song, or what would we sound like if we were a song.". I had the title for the song for about a year and was just waiting for the right day to write it and to write it with the right people."

Dodd found that inspiration during a first time co-write with Gavin Slate and Travis Wood. "I never know what to expect going into a room with people I have never written with before. After talking for awhile about life and music, I realized the chemistry was right, and I felt like it was the perfect time to throw out my idea. I told the guys I wanted to write a song for my fans who spend their hard earned money to come to my shows. I wanted to give them a high-energy experience that they could dance to with their significant others. As we started to write the song, the positive vibes were there right out of the gate, and by the time I left that day, I knew we had something special. It was one of those moments where I knew this was going to be a great song for my wife and for my fans. I put in my set list that weekend at a show."

He's a romantic with a wild side. Dodd also sang and co-wrote the theme song for "Wild Outdoors," the longest running series on The Sportsman's Channel. Dodd has also leant his talent to the Georgia Music Foundation, which supports cultural enrichment and music education programs in the state.

TAYLOR ALEXANDER
After touring for six years in his alternative country band, Young America, folk artist Taylor Alexander moved to Nashville, where he busked on the streets for money. Later, Alexander would go on to turn chairs as a contestant on Season 12 of NBC's The Voice, choosing to train under the tutelage of Adam Levine.

JAMES PATRICK MORGAN

Pop-Soul singer/songwriter James Patrick Morgan has just completed a collection of new music entitled: ART+WORK=LOVE. The EP illustrates his myriad of musical influences and crackles with the energy he brings to his live shows. Produced by studio ace David Huff, the EP is full of infectious grooves and pure soul, highlighting James' love of R&B and funk music.

With an appreciation for artists that range from Sam Cooke and Freddie Mercury to Ray Charles and Dave Matthews, Morgan freely admits, laughing, "My brain really is just one big melting pot of music!" Already a favorite among the Atlanta music scene, the Georgia native has spent years honing his sound while playing 300+ shows a year, performing covers and originals as well. The new EP will give the rest of the world a chance to experience the soulful grooves and upbeat energy that are Morgan's musical hallmark.

Growing up in a rural area in Athens, Morgan was exposed to the requisite country music hits early on, but his tastes soon ran much further and deeper than Top 40 country radio. DC Talk was one of the first groups that resonated with him vocally, and when he picked up a guitar in his senior year of high school, he began paying close attention to artists like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, and Shawn Mullins.

An audition during college landed Morgan a spot as backing vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Virgin Records artist, Hope Partlow. The opportunity put him in front of Matt and Dean Serletic, who recognized James' passion for a life on the stage right away, and the time he spent playing with Partlow cemented his desire to pursue a career as a singer.

Scott Patton, guitarist for Sugarland, saw James performing in 2010, and expressed a desire to team up creatively. The two ended up making an album together; five songs and a single called Back to LA. That relationship led to support slots for Sugarland and Jennifer Nettles.

"R&B, pop, and soul is where my heart lies for sure," admits James. "I listened to Keith Sweat, Boyz II Men, and KC & Jo Jo -- all this stuff that was nostalgia-driven. Then, I fell in love with the groove, so that made me want to be a pocket player; and, I'm also inspired by the "Dave Matthews jam" and the way he puts on a really good show. So, I try to pair all of that with the energy and raw emotion from singers I admire."

J2B2 is an all-star bluegrass supergroup featuring four legendary, award-winning musicians - John Jorgenson on acoustic guitar, mandolin and vocals; Herb Pedersen on banjo, acoustic guitar and vocals; Mark Fain on bass; and Patrick Sauber on acoustic guitar and vocals - delivering bluegrass like no one has ever heard it before. The band's undeniable live shows have received stellar reviews and have the bluegrass world buzzing. The four combine forces to form a spot-on union of impeccable musicianship, incomparable songwriting, incredible harmony vocals (a fresh twist combining bluegrass with elements of West Coast folk rock) and seasoned showmanship. This is the "high lonesome sound" of American roots music at its finest.

Jorgenson and Pedersen are founders (with Chris Hillman) of the formative country rock group Desert Rose Band. After working as a freelance musician in Southern California, Jorgenson met Hillman and soon formed the Desert Rose Band. In 1990, Jorgenson went on to found the Hellecasters and toured with Elton John's band for six years. Artists ranging from Barbra Streisand to Bonnie Raitt to Earl Scruggs have sought out Jorgenson's guitar work. Jorgenson portrayed Django Reinhardt in the Hollywood feature film Head in the Clouds. In 2008, Jorgenson won a Grammy for Best Country Instrumental with Brad Paisley and was nominated for Best Bluegrass Album with Earl Scruggs.

Herb Pedersen was a member of legendary bluegrass bandThe Dillards as well as bluegrass super-group Old and In the Way. A sought-after singer and musician, he has worked with such music legends as Chris Hillman, Earl Scruggs, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris,Tony Rice, Dan Fogelberg, Stephen Stills, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Jackson Browne and John Denver.

Mark Fain toured and recorded as bass player for Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder for 13 years. He's toured and recorded with the Dixie Chicks,Alan Jackson,TravisTritt, DwightYoakam,Allison Krauss and Dolly Parton, as well as producing many artists in jazz, country, bluegrass and gospel genres.

Patrick Sauber is a multi-instrumentalist who has quickly made a name for himself in the world of bluegrass and old time music. Equally adept on guitar, mandolin and banjo, Sauber has toured with Peter Rowan and Laurie Lewis and appeared on screen in "The Mighty Wind."

J2B2's debut album, From The Crow's Nest, was recorded in Sheryl Crow's home barn studio in Nashville,Tennessee. The album was recently released as part of a John Jorgenson limited edition, 3-CD box set called DIVERTUOSO (Cleopatra Records), which has received vast critical acclaim. DIVERTUOSO includes three new distinct albums by Jorgenson: J2B2 - From The Crow's Nest; John Jorgenson Quintet - Returning (gypsy jazz); and John Jorgenson - Gifts From The Flood (instrumental electric guitar).

Folk Legends may seem to be a pretentious name, but it may be the only name appropriate for the collective talents of George Grove, Rick Dougherty and Jerry Siggins. These three men have been involved with music from the great Folk Era since the actual days of the great Folk Era.

Along the way, all three gentlemen became close friends with and performed on the same stages with the best known names of the folk and the folk-rock eras: Peter Paul & Mary, Tom Paxton, Judy Collins, Barry MacGuire, The New Christy Minstrels, The Brothers Four, The Chad Mitchell Trio, The Mamas & The Papas, The Association, John Sebastian, Josh White Jr, The Limeliters, Glenn Yarbrough, The Kingston Trio, Pete Seeger... Yes, this is a list of musical icons, but it is also a list of people with whom they've performed, traveled, written songs and shared meals. These are the friends and memories Folk Legends brings to life with the memorable and exciting music of the Great American Folksong Book™.

What began as Celtic Thunder's Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly performing a series of shows together called 'Acoustic By Candlelight' back in 2012 has turned into what is now known as Byrne and Kelly.

Driven by dynamic vocal harmonies, the duo seamlessly combines genres like traditional Irish and Americana to create a fresh, Celtic folk sound that has garnered comparisons to iconic folk-rock duos like Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers.

Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Darrell Scott mines and cultivates the everyday moment, taking the rote, menial, mundane, and allowing it to be surreal, ever poignant, and candidly honest, lilting, blooming, and resonating.

The words he fosters allow us to make sense of the world, what is at stake here, and our place in it. And ultimately, Darrell knows the sole truth of life is that love is all that matters, that we don't always get it right, but that's the instinctive and requisite circuitous allure of things, why we forever chase it, and why it is held sacred.

Darrell Scott comes from a musical family with a father who had him smitten with guitars by the age of 4, alongside a brother who played Jerry Reed style as well. From there, things only ramped up with literature and poetry endeavors while a student at Tufts University, along with playing his way through life. This would never change.

After recently touring with Robert Plant and the Zac Brown Band (2 years with each), and producing albums for Malcolm Holcomb and Guy Clark and being named "songwriter of the year" for both ASCAP and NSAI, these days find him roaming his Tennessee wilderness acreage hiking along the small river, creating delicious meals with food raised on his property and playing music.

He often leads songwriting workshops to help people tell their own truths with their stories, and is as busy as always writing, producing, performing, and just plain fully immersing himself in life.

"The simple fact is that James McMurtry may be the truest, fiercest songwriter of his generation..."

Stephen King (Entertainment Weekly)

New Album from James McMurtry Due Out 2020!

James McMurtry has been working with legendary Los Angeles-based producer Ross Hogarth at Santa Monica's GrooveMasters for his forthcoming album. Liner notes enthusiasts know multiple-Grammy-winning producer/engineer/mixer Hogarth from his work with Gov't Mule, Roger Waters, The Black Crowes, Shawn Colvin, John Mellencamp, R.E.M.and Jewel, among many others. Hogarth's wide and varied experience and taste opened up all creative doors and usual and unusual possibilities for all their classics. And no need to explain the incredible GrooveMasters Studio.

Hogarth has never allowed himself to be pigeonholed or trapped in any one musical genre as his studio work runs the gamut from the heavy metal icons Mötley Crüe to the Grammy-winning Americana favorite Keb' Mo' to recent releases by Van Halen, Ziggy Marley and the Sick Puppies. Exclusive and particular in its clientele, the semi-private Santa Monica recording studio where McMurtry will be recording has recently opened its doors to Laurel Canyon legends such as David Crosby, Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, David Bromberg and more. The spiritual vibe and feel of this studio, along with the cast of characters, will most definitely bring out the best in the upcoming McMurtry record.

Other notable players on the album (in addition to his stellar band) include David Grissom (John Mellencamp) and Harmoni Kelley (Kenny Chesney). McMurtry will unleash this latest collection of poignant and timely songs on New West Records this fall! "I first became aware of James McMurtry's formidable songwriting prowess while working at Bug Music Publishing in the '90s," says New West President John Allen. "He's a true talent. All of us at New West are excited at the prospect of championing the next phase of James' already successful and respected career." McMurtry joins New West's singular roster of top-tier roots music all-stars including Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, John Hiatt, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Buddy Miller, Nikki Lane and dozens more.
