Children’s Museum of Virginia - Classes & Workshops

This reservation is for both Smorgasbord Science and Powhatan Experience, so campers will be at the museum from 9 am- 4 pm.  Campers should bring their own lunch; supervision and museum exploration provided.

This camp is a concoction of fun! Campers will investigate wacky weather, learn to launch rockets, and make fizzy and foamy mixtures.  Time will also be spent examining the science of the small and aiming for the stars.

Discover how the Powhatans lived and succeeded in their environment.  Explore daily life through replica artifacts, tools, games and stories of the time.

Explore various habitats as art is used to investigate the great outdoors.  Please dress for a mess.

Ahoy there! Transform yourself into a pirate and complete the pirate training school.  Learn how to live on a pirate ship and how pirates in history avoided the clutches of the law.  Complete your pirate adventure with a treasure hunt through Portsmouth!

Dive into summer fun with activities based on this summer’s Olympic Games. Campers will discover the history of the Olympics, create themed art projects, and compete in fitness and sport activities each day.

Use bricks, mini-figs and contraptions to create a fantastical story and bring it to life.  Practice building, creating a scene, and then progress to animating the scenes to create an animated mini movie.
