Scott Helman is a Canadian singer-songwriter who is influenced by artists such as Arcade Fire, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, the Cure, Bon Iver, and Paul Simon. His debut full-length album, Hôtel de Ville, was recorded in Toronto at Revolution Recording and was produced by Tawgs Salter (Lights, Walk Off the Earth, USS). The album's first single is the irresistible alternative pop track "Kinda Complicated," which applies breezy, catchy songwriting and clever lyricism to either a failed relationship or his own daily struggle with ADHD. "The more that I write music, the more that I feel that I'm curing myself," Scott explains. "How am I gonna be a better person and how am I gonna be a better lover?  I have to figure out all those things that are knocking around in my head."

In 2014, Scott Helman released the song "Bungalow" as the first single from his debut EP Augusta.  The track was certified platinum and led to tours across Canada where he played with the likes of Tegan and Sara, Shawn Mendes, and Matthew Good.  Opening for Walk Off the Earth on extensive tours of the U.S. and Europe, Helman stood alone on stage and, night after night, won over skeptical audiences and began building an international fan base.  In January 2016, he topped the Teen Vogue list of voices to look out for that year over the likes of Melanie Martinez and Elle King.  By the time Helman went back into the studio to begin work on Hôtel de Ville, he had been nominated for multiple MuchMusicVideo Awards in 2015 and Juno Awards in 2016, performing to massive national TV audiences on both award shows.  Helman rang in 2017 with a raucous tribute to Leonard Cohen, performing "Bird On A Wire" in Cohen's hometown of Montreal in front of 50,000 people, along with countless others who watched the live broadcast on CBC TV.

Claudia B. Swope is a pop/neo-soul artist from the D.C. area. Swope, a student at Berklee who has been a singer and keyboard player for more than 10 years, performs her own music as a solo act and with various bands. Her music is influenced by artists such as Kehlani, Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder, and Amy Winehouse. With countless live performances under her belt (most notably at the Fillmore Silver Spring, on Fox 5 Good Morning DC, and at the National Cherry Blossom Festival), the singer has made it clear that she’s here to stay. In early 2016, Swope released her first EP, Chances, which represents her “blue-eyed soul” style. Now, after a successful GoFundMe campaign to sponsor her upcoming album, Claudia is eager to share her newest work with the world.

Childish Japes is equal parts collective, band, and art project—committed to fearless musical exploration and a blurring of genre lines. With no fixed front person, it constantly features a slew of killer singers, rappers, and instrumentalists (or just playing as a trio). At this show, the band will play its entire new album, Salamandra, which features Berklee College of Music alumnus and emotive powerhouse Dave Vives on vocals.

Killer Cortez is a Boston, Massachusetts–based progressive rock band. As a two-piece ensemble, the band upends convention with its cavernous sound and dynamic, multilayered compositions. Its sound has been described as sonic storytelling with U2 textures, Radiohead rhythms, Pink Floyd psychedelia, and Muse levels of apocalyptic stadium rock. The band is currently working on a follow-up to its debut album and expects to release it later this year.

Lev Freedman is a singer and songwriter from Newburgh, New York. Freedman’s deeply personal songwriting and soothing pop vocals make for a powerful show. His influences range from artists such as James Taylor to Frank Ocean. Currently in his last year at Berklee, Freedman is preparing for a career in songwriting and performing.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, the sibling duo Ar’mon and Trey emerges with a focused, fresh, and fiery take on R&B, imbuing simmering soul with 21st-century style.

Born only a year apart, brothers Armon Warren and Trey Traylor can recall singing together by the ages of 5 and 4, respectively. By their early teens, they had started leading the choir at church in between performing in musicals and plays at school.

Adopting Vine in 2014, the brothers made show-stopping, six-second covers that generated millions of views before transitioning to Instagram in 2015. Engaging a growing fan base, they dropped the “The Same (So Gone Challenge)” on YouTube in 2016, surpassing 500,000 views in less than one month and eventually exceeding 2 million. They caught the attention of Compound Entertainment, which assumed management for the group. A few months later, the “Moment 4 Life (Mashup)” amassed more than 14 million views.

By 2018, YouTube views totaled more than 100 million and they had attracted 1 million Instagram followers. Debut singles “Drown” and “Breakdown” caught fire as Warner Bros. Records signed the duo.

Their 2018 debut EP, Long Story Short Phase One, properly introduces their soaring signature sound.

The Bomb Digz is composed of three 14-year-old boys from New York and New Jersey who seek to emulate artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, and Usher.

“In today’s world, there are no musical boundaries,” says Max ZT of House of Waters, a trio that makes those words come alive as they incorporate elements of West-African music, jazz, psychedelic music, indie rock, classical, and world music into their astonishingly unique sound.

The band's touring lineup consists of Max ZT on hammered dulcimer, Moto Fukushima on six-string bass, and Ignacio Rivas-Bixio on percussion. Five years after their groundbreaking album Revolution, House of Waters now returns with its eponymous follow-up.  In addition to the core lineup, the album also features virtuosic cellist Dave Eggar, flautist Sam Sadigursky, and vocalist Priya Darshini.

“Our music is a constant melting pot, which is so relevant to now,” says ZT. “It’s like that last D’Angelo record or Kendrick’s Butterfly…you know, that wasn’t just rap, or hip-hop, or jazz, or soul, but it had all of that. It’s an amorphous thing. It’s how the future is going to be.” Fukushima agrees: “We always just say what we do is ‘good music.’  If I need to say something to someone who’s never heard of us, I just say, ‘Please come to our show!”

Matt Holubowski is a self-taught musician, poet, and composer who grew up in a bilingual household in Hudson, Quebec. Huboloski has always lived at the crossroads of the French and English languages and loves the notion of two cultures being isolated within a single territory. With his second album, Solitudes, Holubowski offers eleven titles that in many ways evoke isolation, estrangement, and exile, but also delve into the forms of solitude we seek and often times need. Holubowski’s unmistakable voice and steadfast personality were revealed to some through his appearance as a finalist on the popular Canadian TV show La Voix

Vera Sola is a poet, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist.  Sola has toured and recorded with a variety of artists. For a while, she accompanied singer-songwriter Elvis Perkins on the road. She has also collaborated on film scores and provided original music for theater productions and performance art. In early 2017, she experienced a total shift in relation to her voice and musicianship. Only then was she finally compelled to record and release her own songs. In the days following, hiding out in a studio in St. Louis, she wrote, arranged, and performed all the parts on her upcoming LP, Shades.

Gina Chavez blends the sounds of the Americas with tension and grace. A multi-ethnic Latin pop songstress, Chavez is a nine-time Austin Music Award winner (including 2015 Musician of the Year and Album of the Year for her sophomore release, Up.Rooted). Her independent album topped the Amazon and Latin iTunes charts following a national feature on NPR’s All Things Considered, and has been hailed by the Boston GlobeUSA TodayTexas Monthly, and the Austin Chronicle. Her band’s Tiny Desk concert made NPR’s "Top 15 of 2015".

Chavez’s passionate collection of bilingual songs takes audiences on a journey through the Americas. Her Spanish-language anthem, “Siete-D” (which took home the grand prize in the 2014 John Lennon Songwriting Contest), tells the story of her experience volunteering in a gang-dominated suburb of San Salvador where she and her partner founded Niñas Arriba, a college fund for young Latinas. The fund celebrated its first two college graduates in 2016. Chavez and her band have performed in eight countries, touring as cultural ambassadors with the U.S. State Department.

“Most striking is Chavez’s ease as she moves between social and love songs, between North American and Latin genres, and even between languages: When she passes mid-song from English to Spanish and back, it’s the most natural thing in the world.“  -The Boston Globe
