The Clayton Center for the Arts – Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

One ticket-holder will also win a lifetime supply of chocolate. Against all odds, an impoverished but sweet-natured boy named Charlie Bucket wins a golden ticket. He and his fellow tour members. The children encounter marvelous sights and tastes along the way, including giant nut-selecting squirrels, fizzy lifting drinks, Everlasting Gobstoppers, and a chocolate river. But each stop proves to be a test, as only one can go on to win the Wonka prize.

Maryville Christian School’s production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. will be Friday, April 26th at 7pm, and Saturday April 27th, at 2pm and 7pm, at the Clayton Center for the Arts. Golden tickets are $25.

Once More returns to the stage for their second concert at the Clayton Center. This formerly Nashville-based group performs traditional country, classic rock, and southern gospel with their own unique blend of harmony and exciting instrumentation.  Once More brings decades of music and entertainment experience to the stage.  If you are a music traditionalist, you are going to love what you here from this group.  Once More performs songs by many of the artists they have performed with, as well as songs by artists that have influenced their music, including Ricky Skaggs, Clint Black, The Statler Brothers, Exile, Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and others.  Like numerous artists growing up in East Tennessee, the members of Once More first began performing in church, and southern gospel music is a huge influence on their musical style.  In addition, the Once More band has some of the best pickers and players you will find anywhere.  Their instrumentalists are electrifying and an integral part of their performance.  Come and see why this group continues to excite old fans and new fans alike.
