Roselit Bone
After over a decade of touring, Roselit Bone have perfected an infectious and intense live show that has transfixed crowds in a nightly conversion ritual. Previously described by Oregon Public Broadcasting as “a unique type of gothic country rock that borrows heavily from Mexican ranchera music, rockabilly and the same lonely and wide-open spaces that inspired the classic Spaghetti Western scores of composer Ennio Morricone,” the Portland 8-piece – led by frontwoman Charlotte McCaslin – have deepened, shapeshifted, and outdone themselves on their fourth full-length record, Ofrenda.
Nick Gamer
Portland, Oregon-based songwriter, Nick Gamer, is known for dark, cinematic, Americana ballads which draw inspiration from the varied geography of the Pacific Northwest. The influence of Lucinda Williams and The Byrds’ Sweetheart of the Rodeo, manifests in poetic lyrics that offer emotional complexity as varied as the region’s rugged beauty and as potent as nostalgia that forces a head-on reckoning with the past.
Formerly a guitarist for Japanese Breakfast, Gamer got his start crafting indie pop hooks, but always knew that he wanted to make music that swelled. It’s no surprise that he moved toward the high lonesome wail of the pedal steel with his first solo album, the aptly titled Suburban Cowboy.
Gamer’s second solo effort, Oregoner, is a vivid landscape where dimly lit roadside taverns, honky tonk angels, and ceaseless rainfall loom large. While this album is firmly rooted in the present, it nods to the timeless influences of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, blending contemporary themes with enduring sounds.
