This concert will be at Lays Hardware Center for the Arts located at 413 Front St E in Coeburn, VA. ~~~~ With echoes of Eastern Kentucky music styles, the hard-charging Kevin Prater Band sound evolved from a wide range of bluegrass and gospel influences including the original Seldom Scene, The Country Gentlemen, Osborne Brothers, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Red Allen, and The Stanley Brothers. The band’s performances feature a cappella hymns, straight ahead bluegrass, classic country and even vintage rock, giving audiences shows filled with an abundance of variety. The band includes Kevin Prater (mandolin), Danny Stiltner (bass), Tom Timberlake (guitar), Jake Burrows (banjo and dobro) and Adam Burrows (fiddle). ~~~~ The Sons of Liberty are Joshua, Daniel, and Noah Smith, three young brothers from Jonesville, Virginia who have developed a unique presentation on triple fiddles featuring early violin and fiddle music from America’s colonial past. As serious students of music from the colonial era, they perform in a style that captures the feel of a bygone era, when violin music from Europe mingled with rough-hewn fiddle music on the frontier. The colonial era garb these three lanky youths perform in, and the spoken background they provide about the tunes, enhances the effect of the music in bringing alive the musical heritage that became the old time music we celebrate now along The Crooked Road. The Sons of Liberty are frequently featured musicians at Wilderness Road State Park, Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area, and Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, and at other state and national parks in the Southeast. ~~~~ The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming is made possible by the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission, Food City, National Endowment for the Arts, Virginia Department of Housing & Economic Development, Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Blue Ridge Beverage, Virginia Commission for the Arts, Davenport & Company, Market Connections, Community Foundation for the New River Valley, Asset Solutions Corporation, Ballad Health, McGuire Woods LLP, Galax Moose Lodge # 773, Union Bank, Bank of Marion, Bill Kornrich, Breaks Insterstate Park, David & Judie Reemsnyder, Electric Hardwoods, Moonstruck Management, CGI, Rotary Club of Washington County, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, FocusOne Integrated Financial Planning, Chantilly Farm, Downtown Wytheville Association, SWCC Educational Foundation, Walt & Janet Crickmer.
