Lee & Susan Terry
Lee and Susan Terry make sounds in public and on recordings.
They have been musically collaborating since nineteen tickety-two. As a duo, they perform a rural, yet sophisticated mix of soulful, intelligent "front porch" acoustic music that utilizes touches of Celtic, experimental melodic rock, and Americana in a deceptively inventive way.
Together they have played a vital role in the Winston-Salem music scene. Their work as an acoustic duo led directly to the formation of their full band, The Near Strangers, in 2007. They have released many albums over the years, the latest being The Near Strangers' "Echo Reverse" in 2016.
Before forming the Near Strangers, they were the core of Lee's now-defunct, but long running N.C. band, the Skellingtons. Susan is the instigator of Toyband Tuesday, a regular gathering of musically minded people who don't take themselves too seriously. Lee and Susan have also played and/or recorded with a very large number of other local bands, including the Vagabond Saints Society, Susan Snow and Ghostheart, Doug Davis and the Solid Citizens, Vel Indica, the Bo-Stevens, Particle and Sally Spring.
