CANCELLED - Montana Free Press: Making News
Doors Open: 6:30 PM
What does it take to grow and support “public-powered” community news in Montana? Best-selling author and journalist Sarah Vowell joins Montana Free Press staff – founder, executive director, and editor-in-chief John S. Adams, editor Brad Tyer, and education reporter Alex Sakariassen – to explore the myriad threats facing the local news business and the critical role in-depth accountability and watchdog journalism play in our democracy.
Montana Free Press’ premier event of the year will bring Montanans together to join in a conversation about the past, present, and future of journalism in the city of Missoula and across the state. Drawing from the past and present, as well as recent exemplary reporting, the panel will explore what it takes for Montana’s largest nonprofit newsroom to make local investigative journalism accessible and available to Missoulians and everyone across the state. Attendees can look forward to a thought-provoking panel discussion and Q&A, as well as audience-driven segments led by Vowell and MTFP.
