ABOUT H.C. MCENTIRE:

H.C. McEntire is a multi-instrumental composer, producer and writer based in Durham, NC. She has performed on stages across Europe, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the continental United States many times over.

“If naming is a form of claiming, of being claimed, how is one tethered to both the physical landscape that surrounds us, as well as our own internal emotional landscape—at times calm, at times turbulent, and ever changing? H.C. McEntire’s new album Every Acre grapples with those themes—themes that encompass grief, loss, and links to land and loved ones. And naming—claiming land, claiming self, being claimed by ancestry and heritage—permeates the hauntingly beautiful landscape that is this poignant collection of songs.” – Merge Records

H.C. McEntire has made a career complicating the music of her youth. A child of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, McEntire began life on a family farm, her days soundtracked by the local country radio station. On Sundays, she’d attend church, the heavenward hymns lifting her out of her weekday twang. These influences have informed McEntire’s own reverent folk songs, whose gospel inflections and bucolic imagery reflect deep psychogeographic connections to the land where she grew up.” – Pitchfork

ABOUT BLUE CACTUS:

"You can't help but fall in love with the heartache." -- PASTE

"A subtle but beautiful elegance...If you've ever wondered where country and Americana music is going, look no further. Blue Cactus is painting pictures of limitless possibility."-- NO DEPRESSION

Led by songwriters Steph Stewart and Mario Arnez, Blue Cactus got their start among the active honky-tonk circuit of North Carolina, developing an electrified twang that now branches out effortlessly into folk, alt-country, and psychedelic-tinged rock.

Having released two records to critical acclaim, they have grown a cult following in the South and beyond, their introspective lyricism and blistering guitar techniques making the band potent in the studio and on stage. Praised by No Depression for their ability to paint “beautiful pictures of limitless possibility” in roots music, Blue Cactus firmly bear the flag for a new generation of country and Americana.
