"With a killer driving groove, New York Soul Rebels 'The Rad Trads' truly show how tight they are as an ensemble while having fun at the same time."— Paste Magazine

When The Rad Trads formed in the Spring of 2012, they were meeting each other in New York City's East Village for the first time… transplants from Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, and Washington D.C. looking to play with the best musicians they could find. Their horns, guitars, drums and love for the classics like The Band, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John brought them together. And of course, beer.

Making rent playing 4 hour gigs in every bar and beer hall that would have them, the guys dominated New York City and Brooklyn with their punk-rock energy and showmanship, powerful horns, driving rhythm section, and four captivating lead vocalists. Within due time, they decided to take their show on the road.

Almost 5 years later, the Rad Trads have played on 4 Continents, headlining tours and opening for acts such as Tom Jones, Charles Bradley, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, The Lone Bellow, Con Brio, and Dustbowl Revival. They have toured Europe six times, the Middle East and played in 14 countries and 32 U.S. States.

Following the release of their first full length album (*Must We Call Them Rad Trads - *Dala Records) in May 2016, the band is slated to release their second LP of original music in the fall of 2017. The record is highly anticipated in it's creative direction and sound.

Members of The Rad Trads have performed or recorded with St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Deer Tick, Lee Fields & The Expressions, Jon Batiste & Stay Human, Sarah Jarosz, Christopher Paul Stelling, David Duchovny, Lenny Pickett, and Red Baraat as well as leading their own critically acclaimed bands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5fDCgn5Ipk

On his latest album, “The Big Fix,” Raleigh, N.C.-based singer-songwriter Steve Hartsoe taps the Americana and British Invasion wellspring that nourished his formative musical years in the San Francisco Bay Area. The former AP journalist delivers a diverse mix of rootsy songs about love, loss and languor, propelled by gritty guitars, strained vocals and groove-tight rhythms.

A deluxe remixed/remastered edition of the album with five bonus tracks -- two of them new songs -- is planned for release in fall 2017.

From the opening rocker “Salt and Wine” to the closing Dawes-flavored modern folk of “SLO (California),” the songs fit together because the writer has been around a while and experienced the crucible of life -- lost jobs, death, wayward family members and birth.

Those experiences translate into a refreshing honesty throughout the album. Or, as one writer sees it: "It’s been too long since we’ve heard Americana this genuine. Inspired by Tom Petty and Ryan Adams, Steve Hartsoe is full of melodic spirit and gruff guitar lines. Like a firm handshake and a warm smile, this song (‘Salt and Wine’) makes a great first impression” (Milk Crater).

Background Hartsoe honed his musical skills fronting an alternative rock band in the San Francisco area in the 1980s and ‘90s while sharing the bill with such notable artists as Chris Isaak, Mudhoney and the Young Fresh Fellows.

San Jose-based London Down (later, The Raging Marys) released two critically acclaimed albums, charted in France and toured from Portland to Santa Barbara. After the band's demise, Hartsoe began playing as a solo artist at clubs, cafes and churches around central and northern California, opening for artists including Todd Rundgren, The Smithereens and Dan Vickrey (now of Counting Crows).
