Doors Open: 6:45 PM
Doors Open: 6:45 PM
PLEASE NOTE: THIS CLASS TAKES PLACE AT WORKSHOPSF’S SECOND LOCATION IN UPPER HAIGHT AT 1310 HAIGHT STREET b/w CENTRAL AND MASONIC.
In this BUILD IT YOURSELF class, professional woodworker and artist Nicole Sweeney will show you how to build this simple yet elegant indoor wooden planter. The square design is ideal for housing a single, medium-sized 6" house plant. In class, you’ll learn about the power tools and materials necessary for the build. After a demonstration of their proper usage and safety, you’ll practice and get comfy with each tool as you use them to assemble your planter. You’ll put the finishing touches on with some sanding and staining. And voila! Your planter will be complete and ready to be filled!
Each planter box is a square design, measuring 7 1/2 inches on each side, and offers a 6" opening for a single 6" plant. It stands approximately 5 1/2 inches from the ground. You may choose either natural or dark walnut for the color of the planter legs. Each student will leave with one completed wooden planter.
TOOLS & SKILLS
- general safety procedures
- using power saws and stop blocks to cut wood
- assembling wood pieces with clamps, jigs, and wood glue
- using a brad nailer (nail gun)
- sanding, staining, and finishing the wood

Our classes are more lo-fi and intended to be accessible to anyone with an interest in the subject and desire to learn!
