Maestro Spieth has programmed an evening of sweepingly beautiful orchestral music. The program will feature Brahms’ Concerto for Violin, Cello, & Orchestra, Op. 102, in A minor, highlighting guest artists Pamela Frank, violin, & Peter Wiley, cello. Ms. Frank, a recipient of the Avery Fisher Prize, has an active international career across a varied range of performing activity. Mr. Wiley has been a member of the Beaux Arts Trio & the Guarneri Quartet, and is associated with the Marlboro Music Festival since 1971. Both Ms. Frank & Mr. Wiley are on the faculty of Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music.
Additional repertoire to be heard this evening will be: Salerni’s Upstream/About Two Miles, Walton’s Crown Imperial, & Ravel’s Bolero. This concert has been made possible, in part, by a grant from the Dexter F. & Dorothy H. Baker Foundation.
