The St. Catherine Choral Society, under the direction of Patricia Cahalan Connors, will present a celebratory concert of music by Georg Fredrick Handel and Leonard Bernstein on Sunday, April 29, 2018, in The O’Shaughnessy Auditorium at St. Kate’s.
The program features the Baroque composer’s Dixit Dominus, and a variety of music by Bernstein, presented in celebration of his centenary. Handel’s piece, a relatively early work, set for voices and strings, is suffused with the energy and charisma of his much more famous later Messiah.
Several movements of Mass, a medley from West Side Story and “Make our Garden Grow” from Candide comprise the Bernstein tribute.
The 80-voice choir will be joined by soloists Kristie Tigges, KrisAnne Weiss, Richard Joseph and Mark Billy, along with an orchestra of professional musicians.
