If you are a rock music enthusiast, this show is perfect for you. It started life as a rock opera on a studio double album by the English rock band The Who, in 1969. A huge success, it soon gave birth to a staged production, a movie, and this final treatment you’ll see today. The plot is hard to explain but easy to follow. A traumatic event leaves Tommy blind, deaf, and mute. But he discovers he is a pinball-playing wonder and when his senses return, he’s an international pinball wizard. Add the Acid Queen and a questionable uncle to a list of standout characters all vibrating with outstanding rock by The Who (principally Pete Townshend) and you have an unforgettable rock opera.
Rated R. This production contains strong language, adult themes (including murder, child abuse, and drug use), imitation firearms, haze, loud music, strobe, and flashing lights.
THE WHO’S TOMMY is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
