Camp Crush

Camp Crush is a synth-pop duo based in Portland, OR, paying homage to both nostalgic New Wave and current day synth infused pop. Formed in 2017 by singer/songwriter/keyboardist Jen Deale and drummer Chris Spicer, the husband-and-wife band launched onto the northwest music scene with their vocal-forward synth-rich pop tunes and dynamic live performance. Happy Mag describes them best: “The duo glide through a cinematic brand of indie-pop that is completely endearing and damn-near mesmerizing.”

Partnering with grammy-nominated producer Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Hatchie, Maggie Rogers) and grammy-nominated engineer & producer Rian Lewis (Doja Cat, Gorillaz, Chromeo), Camp Crush is releasing their debut studio LP, up_at_night, in the spring of 2025. Following 4 EPs previously released by the band, up_at_night is the full realization of their sound as a duo.

“This new record is our best work yet, pulling the threads on dark wave, new wave and current day inspirations. Jorge, our producer for much of this record, really helped us realize the driving and edgier sound to much of these new songs. Balanced with our work with Rian Lewis, we’ve created a unique sound that we couldn’t be more proud of,” Jen says of the new project. The first single from the record (Mind’s Eye, out mid-October) is a taste of the darker themes and tones present on the new album.

Deepest Darkest

A rock group with roots in classic and indie sounds, Portland’s Deepest Darkest spans decades and genres with influences from Led Zeppelin, Paul Simon, The Shins and Jellyfish. Formerly of The Carolines, songwriter and lead singer Nate Purscelley brings his melodic brand of pop guitar rock to the project with Derby frontman and guitarist, Nat Johnson. Beautiful vocal harmonies, growling guitar riffs, and even some brassy trumpet parts can be heard during their energetic sets. A must see act.
